This is my first Birkenstock shoe purchase because this brand tends to run wide, and I have a narrow foot. Knowing that this sandal was available in a narrow width, that the straps could be adjusted, and that this brand generally has a good reputation, I didn't hesitate to order it. But I was wrong. The shoe fit a half size smaller than marked, and the supporting toe loop on the right foot was wider than that on the left, offering little support. I will return this shoe, and probably not order this brand in the future.

Although I absolutely love the color and style of this sandal, I had to return them. Unfortunately, when I wore them, they made an obnoxious sound with every step I took. Not sure what the deal is with that but when I googled it, I found out it's apparently a really common problem with Birkenstocks.

I've never worn Birks before so I took a chance on these. While I think they are super comfortable they just aren't for me. Made me look like I have caveman feet! :(

Cute, and I like the unique look of the toe loop. However, that darling little toe loop is painful. The Tabora is a better shoe, also with the toe loop, but much more comfortable. Also, as I found after trying out 6 or 7 pairs of Birks, the narrow is a much better fit than regular. I generally order 'wide' in shoes, and in Birks, my perfect fit is 41, narrow.

I wanted to like these, but I did not. Birkenstocks are weird. When I walked in these air escapes out ad it sounds like farting. That is not good!

These shoes are not a flat brown. They're more shiny or acrylic than anything. Be sure what you're shopping for.

On top of having WW feet I'm also pregnant this summer. I was looking for a feminine style slide that is supportive and comfortable. Unfortunately these are not sized the same as the unisex Arizona Birkenstocks despite the same Euro sizes and in "regular" width. It is clear the "Womens" Birkenstocks have narrower expectations. My feet rubbed on both sides and the straps wouldn't even reach across my feet. I am so very disappointed. I went to a specialty foot store this morning and they immediately put me in the Arizona style and it fit just fine.

I have never owned a pair of Birkenstocks before and bought these in preparation for a trip in a few months that will involve a lot of walking. I love the support, but the strap between the toes doesn't fit well (it feels like it should be a few millimeters closer to the front of the shoe) and rubs. I'm not sure if it's something I'll get used to or if it will cause blisters. Currently debating whether to keep them or return them.

I loved this shoes until I noticed that both footbeds have cracked after moderate wear in a 6 month period, which bums me out. Style is really cute and very comfortable, but at this price, they should last longer than 6 months.

My feet have extremely low arches, low and broad insteps, and thin toes. The two front straps of the Mayari hold my forefoot securely, while still allowing my toes to feel very free and wiggle-able. In short, the the two front straps are amazing! However, the angle/positioning of the instep strap restricts the (plantar-)flexion of my foot when I push off. Even when the strap is on its loosest setting, and I can easily fit four fingers between it and my foot, as soon as I push off (or go on demi-pointe), the strap chokes my foot right below my ankle. I don't believe this is simply a matter of breaking the shoes in (i.e. getting the footbed to flex more easily), as I had the same issue with Mayari's precursor, the Cozumel, and I don't have this problem with differently configured Birkenstocks such as the Arizona or the Milano. The Mayari's synthetic Birkibuc upper is soft and lightweight and requires no break-in. If you're looking to get any support from the straps, though, I'd go with the leather version -- or a style with wider straps. The Mayari's footbed provides less-pronounced lateral arch support than does that of the Gizeh, the Arizona, or the Milano. (I discovered this while doing a side-by-side comparison of all these styles.) I believe this explains why I found the Mayari the most comfortable in the midfoot of all these styles. I'll be returning these sandals and hoping that Zappos will soon carry the Yara in oiled leather -- it has the same forefoot straps as the Mayari, and an arrangement of ankle straps that looks to be both more secure and less restrictive than Mayari's deal-breaking instep strap. Sizing: These size 38 (regular-width) sandals might fit up to a size 8. Hope this helps!

I used to wear Birkenstocks and loved them, so I was excited to try this new style. Unfortunately, since my instep is fairly flat, my feet didn't fill this style properly resulting an a rather unattractive appearance. The quality and support is good, so if you like good support then I would still recommend it for people with more normal feet.

I loved these shoes! After about 1.5 years they split on each shoe! I have never had Birkenstocks do that. I didn't wear them 24/7 and I am not a big person, so I cannot understand why the split(s). I called Zappos and they replaced them for me! Zappos rocks. Unfortunately Birkenstocks thinks Americans love the soft foot bed. No, I want he original, but still I'll take them. They are the only shoes I can wear because of Morton's Neuroma. I can wear them all day with comfort.

My foot is very wide and I have trouble finding sandals that fit but these fit width wise but were too long. I wear an 8.5 so I bought the 39. Too big! I need a smaller size. I can tell when I get the right size they will be comfortable and fit.

I'm so sad these did not fit. A friend of mine had these and she loves them! I ordered my normal size of a 6, but they were at least an inch too long. Sadly will have to send these back and try a smaller size.

I ordered my first pair of Birkenstocks and I used the size chart which told me that being a size 7 I would need a size 38. Well I got my shoes and they were way to big. My sister who wears a size 8 tried them on and it fit them perfectly. The size chart is very off.

It took a few days to get used to the ridge near the toes. I also hoped they would help my plantar fasciitis and they did not, but I am keeping them for when my foot feels better.

Sorry and this model didn't fit me. The strap and buckle where it meet the base of my pinky toe, within a few minutes of wearing them I developed a blister! I've had Birkenstocks in the past and wish I didn't need to replace them. Unfortunately I'm back on the hunt and back these go!

I have to be the only person in the world that thinks the Birkenstock shoe is uncomfortable. I normally wear a size 8½ or 9 and I bought a size 8. That is still a bit too roomy. I have been wearing these for a full month and cannot get past the feeling of the footbed contours sticking up into the folds of my foot. Walking in these makes my foot muscles feel like they have to grasp the shoe before I pick my foot up (have you ever had a shoe that you felt like you were having to contract your foot muscles to stay in the shoe?) I do not know how to explain it but these just do not feel good to me. Additionally I do not love how wide the footbed extends beyond my foot both on the sides and in front. Clunky. Yes, this is the Birkenstock way, I realize that. I just thought it would not bother me as much as it does. They are cute, the leather straps are excellent quality.

Ordered the golden-brown birkiflor. Color was nice & a little dressier. Footbed was extremely comfortable and provided excellent arch support (for plantar fasciitis sufferers), however they didn't feel as snug & secure as my other Birkenstock flip-flops. Zappos service top-notch as usual!

I'll call these the pain makers. I wore them around my house indoors for two weeks before taking them outside. I love them while walking on flat wooden floors, basically slippers. As soon as I took them outside my toes were hammered with every downhill step. Birkenstocks have a rim around the edge of the sandal foot bed that can be painful if your toes bump into it. Additionally the foot bed has forms shaped for where your toes are supposed to go and it didn't line up with my feet. I'm bummed they didn't work out for me. I know people who love these shoes. Not for me.

Unfortunately needing to return. The ridge under toes on right foot was misplaced and rode under the ball of my foot. Going to order another pair because my left foot loved them so much.

I adore these sandals and have never worn such a comfortable shoe. I wear them every day as well as around the house because they are so much more comfortable than being barefoot. I have wide feet and these fit me perfectly, whereas the Mephisto Helena sandals were much too narrow. However, after just under 2 months of use, the front of the shoe cork footbed is starting to crack open. Zappos customer service has been great and is going to replace them. It's just a bummer because they take so long to break in! It has been suggested to me that because I live in such a dry climate with little to no humidity, that I will need to oil and treat the cork footbed to prevent them from cracking open. This seems like a lot of maintenance for shoes, but these are so comfortable that they are worth it. Definitely look into different cork care products if you buy these shoes.

I wish I could wear them...they are beautiful and probably comfortable for someone without my injury. I wore them around the house for about 1/2 hour and they aggravate the pinched nerve (a neuroma) in my foot. I need to return them and find something that has a different footbed and a strap around the ankle instead of just over the top of the foot.

I bought these in silver a couple of years ago and they are the best! So this year I wanted a different color and bought the oiled tobacco leather. I got a mismatched pair though, one shoe appears to be oiled, the other not. Zappos was perfectly AWESOME in helping with that problem though. So anyway, they are not as comfortable as the silver I had a couple years ago, and seem to actually run a little bit bigger than those.
I'd also recommend:
get the birkenstock mayari in silver instead

I loved the look of these Birkenstocks! I was disappointed that the metal staple that holds the buckle onto the leather hurt and was abrasive to the area just above my little toe. I was going to send them back, but my wonderful fix-it man husband glued a thin piece of leather over the staple areas and saved the day. I expected higher quality.
