I've had these boots for a little over 5 months. They were fine at first as far as being waterproof but now, even when walking though wet grass my socks are soaked.....Sooooo disappointed !!!!!!!! Will NOT purchase this brand again!!!!!

I have long narrow feet (14 A) so boots have always been a problem. Although these were not perfect, they are very close. All and all, a good choice and well made.

I've had my Lowa Renegade GTX boots for 7 months now. The first pair had some stitching issues and were replaced right away. THIS pair of boots is great for those rocky trails in the mountains. They are waterproof and I've forded more than one shallow stream in these boots successfully. The problem I have had has to do with the stitching. After only 7 months the stitching in the tow cap has come undone. The boots have a one year warranty and I could have had them repaired for free at Lowa USA. The problem with that is the turn around time. I've heard 6 weeks but I don't know about that for sure. I ended up taking them to a local shop and got both boot's tow caps restitched. Unfortunately this ruined the waterproofing but the boots are so comfortable on rocky surfaces that I sacrificed that feature just so I wouldn't have to be without my Lowa Renegades.

Third pair of these boots I've had. I'm a fan, I guess, but each success pair's build quality has gone down, which is upsetting. My last pair of these basically fell apart at the heel.

Loved these boots, very comfortable, but after just over a year of normal wear (recreation only, not even for work) they completely lost their waterproofing. I can't even walk through wet grass at this point without my toes getting wet. It comes right through the top on both boots. I tried to re-spray them with a waterproofer, but that only got me a few months. For the price, I would have expected they last longer than that -- I could have bought two pairs of cheaper boots and gotten more wear.

I bought this shoe 12 years ago in a normal width for my husband who has wide feed, except the pair we bought back then was the normal width and it fit just fine. After 12 years, the sole finally started to come away from the shoe, so I was excited to get him a replacement pair, and even moreso to see there was now a wide fit available. Turns out, the wide now is narrower than the original normal width, so back they go. Super disappointing, as these were the very best hiking boots ever.

Have hiked in Lowa boots for years and find them very comfortable, but this latest pair I bought has been very disappointing. After only about 60-70 hours of hiking in somewhat rugged terrain, the top part of the rubber sole at the front of both boots is pulling away from the leather upper. What has happened to Lowa's quality control?

I've had these for 10 months. First problem was that the laces were different lengths. Since that time I've had to have the toecaps resewed as the stitching came loose. Now the tread on the soles is wearing off. Almost smooth in some parts of the sole. Very unhappy. All this in 10 months.

Really wanted to like these, they look great and appear comfy but not. I have been purchasing Merrell Chameleon's for years and was looking for something in black when I stumbled on this Brand Lowa on the Zappos site under "new arrivals." I was really excited to get them as they appeared to be exactly what I was looking for. I ordered a Pair of both the new Renegade GTX and the new Chameleon5. First thing I noticed was the Lowa box was thrashed. The Lowa have very soft uppers and a cool lining and are pretty light for the size, but the sole is hard and feels like a $60.00-$80.00 discount/bargain price boot. I have tried different style socks with no luck. I am going to keep them but after several weeks of wear I can already tell they will find their way to the back of my closet from lack of use. As of right now they hurt to walk in for any distance. The Merrell were top notch and feel like butter on my feet.

I bought a pair of the GTX six months ago and they are falling apart at the seams. I thought that I would get a better product for the money. But I will give them another chance because there is a bad apple in every bunch. Stay tuned and I will let you know how the next pair works out.

Blisters in less than 2 hours, shoelaces come loose all the time to keep them from doing that you will need to tighten to the point you feet go numb. No ankle support. I have been wearing Lowa Tibet GTX for the last 10 years but the price has gotten out of hand so decided to drop one Lowa level. Big mistake.

I recently purchased a pair of these boots and wore them around the house until I felt certain that they would fit and meet my needs hiking in the mountains. I recently took them on a short 6 mile hike and discovered that on a steep downhill section, when my foot flexed, the inside lining on the right side was about 1/8 bigger than the boot causing it to buckle inward on the side of my foot, thus creating a blister very rapidly. This is quite unfortunate, as the right boot fit perfectly, and the boots, in general were what I was looking for. I did call a customer rep who kindly refunded my purchase, but said that due to company policy that it would be the only time they would do so. Although I was appreciative of the offer, I was also a bit surprised, because the boot was defective. This was not a case where the shoe did not fit. I am a VIP shopper at Zappos, but will now try to find my shoes elsewhere, locally, where I know that defective merchandise will be refunded.

The 'saddle' support for the heels is too low for my long heel (size 12N). This results in my heels being rubbed very sore when walking uphill.

These are fabulous boots. Well made, fit well, great ankle support, comfortable. These are solid, heavy-weight, boots, solid leather. They are not light-weight summer boots, but rather good hiking boots.

This is my go to hiking/daily wear boot. They're rugged, waterproof, comfortable, support my feet and ankles, and have a stiff enough sole for up to moderate backpacking loads. I wear mine daily. I'm on my fifth pair of Renegade GTXs.
Over the years my feet have changed. They're gotten larger and wider. With those changes came adjustments in sizes and widths. Regardless, always, always, always, the Renegade GTX met my demanding needs. This is a true classic boot that lives up to its well deserved reputation.

This is a first-rate hiking boot. They look very well made. All leather, solid boots. Excellent ankle support - I don't think you could ever turn your ankle in these boots. Rounded toes, and you could wiggle your toes in these. Sadly, I had to return them because I need a size 10 for the length, and while the front was a good width for my feet, the heel was a bit loose -- just my feet, and they may be much better on a normal size 10 foot.
I'd also recommend:
Vasque Breeze (but a lighter-weight boot than the Lowa Renegades).

Just received and they fit well. The sole appears to be rigid which I want in a hiking boot. Craftsmanship appears to be good they were comfortable to put on but have not worn them outside yet. I am hoping they will be good replacement for my Vasque boots of 10 years! Size 16 is difficult to find and the selections are exceptionally limited. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Lowa Renegate GTX Mid hiking boots are the best. They are THE only hiking boots my husband and I both wear - comfortable out of the box, no break-in period, last a LONG time. We have worn this model for years and hope Lowa leaves it alone and doesn't "enhance" it.

Fits very well did not need any breaking in. I've been wearing LL Bean's Cresta Gore-tex hiking boots for at least 25 years but they are are no longer available in a narrow width. Cabela's used to carry them 25 years ago then they dropped them, not sure who makes these boots but the Lowa Renegade feels more comfortable the first time I put them on. I'll be buying another pair before I wear these out. Please keep them in stock.

I expected to be pleased and have not been disappointed. An added bonus for me being, I wear orthotics and noticed by removing the OEM insert, by means of clever manufacturing/design, my orthotics sit in a natural-neutral position. Other brands have left the hard edges pressing out against the boot and sitting higher than needed.
I have been using military and these top shelf boot brands since the 70's, and am still solely impressed (pun intended).
