I sought out these boots because they come in B width. I have worn three pair of LL Bean Cresta hikers for over the past 20 years. These Lowa boots are equally comfortable, but are lighter weight.
I'd also recommend:
LL Bean Cresta Hiker (a bit heavier/stiffer)

I needed a lighter leather boot with good ankle support for high desert canyon hiking. My feet are big, wide and hard to fit but these boots felt great from the start and also were easy to break in. They cost more but I believe the quality is there. The color and width I wanted were not in stock but Zappos ordered them in and notified me by email when they became available. Customer service was top notch as usual.

I've bought about 12 pairs over the last 22 years. If you have high arches, you will need a quality aftermarket or custom insert (trip to podiatrist and an extra $350 to $400 out of pocket). They cannot be resoled, don't know why the #1 answer to that question claims they can be resoled. All of the ones in the photo have been purchased in the last 2.5 years and ready for another pair - if they could be resoled I would be doing that instead of buying again. Good for everyday urban use and hiking, but with the heavy rocky limestone trails and soil here I could use a slightly firmer foot bed - you might not need it if you are 25 years old. I used to be able to carry a medium pack with these, but not anymore. Never had one delaminate as you see the occasional review complaint, maybe I've just been lucky. If concerned, view return policy of retailer. Waterproof for as long as the tread lasts, by that point they need to be replaced. I buy them in E width (wide). Normally I buy D, but that's not an option, so need to wear extra thick socks to get the best fit. Every podiatrist and manufacturer of custom inserts I've seen is impressed and comments on the quality of these. I would like a less expensive option, but only have one pair of feet.

Let me start by saying I am a huge Zappos and Lowa fan. This time not so much, love these boots but either the right boot or footbed is messed up and the insole slides back in the boot leaving a ridge under my toes. This is my 4th pair of Lowa's and 3rd pair of renegades...I wear them every day to work. Just disappointed this time. Also am beginning to get annoyed with the VIP shipping that seems to take 3 days instead of overnight now, great benefit that isn't living up to the hype.

So far I've only worn the GTX casually (probably 15 miles) to break them in although that wasn't necessary and they have been comfortable from the start. My feet are sensitive to pounding, so I upgraded to Montrail insoles and the cushioning is now the best I've ever experienced. The tab on the back to pull the boot on is skimpy, but the boot doesn't really require it to go on with ease. The tab design prevents your pants from hanging up on the back of the boot, unlike so many others. So far, great.

These shoes are the best. They fit right out of the box and I felt were true to size. I have about 300 miles on them so far and still doing great. Have done as much as 30 miles in 10 hrs. On timed events with no problems. Would like to try a pair of the low hikers next.

This is the second pair of Lowa's my husband has owned. (He wore the first pair out -- we hike a lot.) These are sturdy, true to size and an all around good day hiking boot.

This is the second pair of these I have bought. I can\'t say enough good things about these boots! They are incredibly comfortable, light, breathable (good for summer\/winter) I have worn these in -10C in the snow, and hot weather in the wet...I just love them. I am a 10E and the US size 11\'s are perfect.

Great looking boots. Very comfortable. Though I ordered "narrow" there is still some wiggle room, but not too much to necessitate a return as narrow boots are just too hard to find. Can't imagine what the regular width is like. So far this winter cruising in blizzard conditions I'm warm and dry.

These boots are working great for me. I broke them in a few times on short climbs (less than 1000 vertical feet) then wore them on an 11 hour climb up Mt. Katahdin in Maine. No blisters, no pain the ball of my foot, just general soreness after 11 hard hours of hiking, which I think is to be expected on a rough climb like that. They grip rock well and seem to be truly waterproof. Maybe not the best looking boot out there but they work well for me.

I purchased my Lowa boots about 5-6 months ago. Like other reviews, I wear work boots for a living. I was wearing Georgia's and then switched to Wolvereines. I ended up having plantar fascia issues. I did not switch back to Georgia's because the model I wore does not have removable insoles. So I started thinking. The most comfortable boots I wear are typically my hiking boots. I set out to buy a good pair of hiking boots. I purchased Lowa Renegades. I also purchased insoles from Foot Fix online. Best pair of boots I have ever worn. I have also hiked in them and they are great in any setting, right out of the box.

I bought these boots not to do extensive hiking in, but because I have an advanced tendon problem in my foot, and even with my custom orthotics, my foot needs a lot of ankle support that I can't get in an athletic shoe. These are perfect! Comfortable right out of the box and a great, sturdy shoe.

Love these boots. Both my husband and I bought a pair- both of us have feet issues, plantar fascia, arch pain, etc. He has worn work boots everyday, typically Justin or RedWing, and he says these are the best boots he has ever had. I agree. Nice fit around heel and no sore areas. Did replace the insoles with green Superfeet for more arch support.

I have never before been able to wear a pair of boots, right out of the box, all day long! Put them on & went for my 2 mile walk. Felt great! Thanks Lowa.

My pair arrived the day before we left on vacation, and I did 10 miles in them the first time I took them out of the box. (I did replace the insoles with Superfeet first). Have worn them on several more hikes since and will take them down North Kaibab and up Bright Angel soon. Good support, good traction, very comfortable. I generally wear size 11, but because my feet tend to swell a little, I ordered these in a size 12, and they're perfect.

Very comfortable. The wides are just a little bit narrower than my usual New Balance 4E, and that is a good thing. I am a landscaping contractor and for almost twenty years have tried different boots with mixed success. So far these rank near the top. We'll see how long they last as I put them through more than most hikers would, but I'll pay more for boots that fit well any day.

The best quality shoes I've ever had. I expect them to last many years. They are made by craftsmen in Europe, not by cheap Chinese labor. You pay for what you get. I will be buying from them again in the future as I am happy to pay extra for quality.

I have a long narrow foot. These shoes fit well but had to get one size larger than I normally take. I would consider the brand again.

Excellent boots. Top quality and attention to detail. I hike the Appalachian Trail, and these are light but solid. They have enough cushion with adequate flex and good traction. No hot spots or foot pain.

Zappos is wonderful to deal with. This is my second pair of boots we have purchased through them. These were for my son, size 13, hard to fit feet. Excellent online chat and support. Next day delivery. Fit was true to size. Great boot, great price, great service. I will definitely shop with them again.

Great boots! Light, comfortable and good looking. They are especially nice for airline trips knocking several pounds off the luggage weight. Best boots I have used in 71 years.
