For the price, these are tremendously uncomfortable. There is no arch support or really any padding. While long enough, they are tight enough to make adding an insole impossible - and I ordered a half size larger than I normally wear. This was the most expensive shoe I've purchased and, unfortunately, will remain so. I have several pairs of shoes and boots at half the price that, while not as stylish, at least are comfortable to wear. What good is attractive footwear that is too uncomfortable to wear? As far as the boot itself, the workmanship is fantastic, the leather is quite supple, and they do look very nice. I only wish they were a bit less painful to wear.

Run at least a half size big. Love the color and style and also very comfortable.

People are saying these are unforgettable...I disagree. I had the Clark desert boots beforehand (very similar to these) - now THOSE are uncomfortable. I often am on my feet for 10 hours at a time photographing weddings in these and feel as if they are the perfect shoe. They hug your foot in a very comfortable, yet flexible way. Also, and maybe most importantly, they're hands down the best looking chukkas you can buy. Whether it be jeans, dress pants or chinos, these things look fly. The one knock is the price, but I suppose if you want quality, you need to pay for it.

These were not available any longer at Nordstrom. Really glad to find them at Zappos. And delivered on time. Very happy with the experience.

I love these shoes. They are close to two years old and looking amazing, unfortunately it is time to look for replacement or re-sole.

Great boots. I got these to replace an older pair of the same model, and they are outstanding. I'd been looking at the Timberland Wodehouse as well, but these are a lot cheaper with virtually the same look.

They look better in person. I wear size 11 on vans and nikes, but size 10 in these feel perfect.Go a full size down.

Great shoe with great style! They were worn to a wedding with a fitted black suit, skinny tie and were just the right addition to the look. Will also work with jeans and for a more casual look. Very versatile.

One of the best pair of shoes/boots that I own! Goes great with just about anything. I wear these mostly for work (wear mostly slim khakis, slim button down shirt...jeans on casual Fridays etc.), but they are great for adult parties (I make the distinction, I guess, because I go to a lot of kids' parties), and date night with the wife when I have to look decent, don't really want to think about what I'm going to wear, and want to be comfortable. These shoes don't offer much arch support and run a little big, so I just added an insole to solve both problems. I wouldn't recommend wearing these is you plan on walking all day but otherwise great shoes for everyday use.

I LOVE these shoes. I get many compliments on them. The calfskin leather is very soft and the shoes come with a broken-in feel to them. A great addition to any shoe collection.

Despite some of the negative reviews posted, I have been very pleased with these shoes. I wear them for work two to three times a week, and I have no issues thus far (about six months in). They are comfortable and seem to be pretty durable.

I love these shoes. They are made from super soft leather that feel like they are already worn in for you - but in a good way. I tend to just slip these on since I leave my laces loose. They are very easy to put on.

The JV Hipster Chukka is a great boot! They're incredibly comfortable and they look really good in jeans or with the right kind of khakis/slacks (not always though!). The tread on the bottom is fine for fall wear, but come winter time they might not be the best in snow or slippery conditions. All around, great boot!

Great shoe. Extremely soft leather. Very comfortable. Easy to dress up or keep casual!

After about 9 months daily wear I had to put some Superfeet insoles in them because the insoles in the shoe were just flattneed and shot and giving me blisters. I'm now at 18 months since purchasing them (9 months with the added insoles) and they are still running strong (nevermind the smell). Took them on a two week trip to Egypt where i was working doing photography and put tons of miles on them. They dress up or down which is great for me. Overall very impressed but you'll prob have to buy insole inserts if you want them to last long.

John Varvatos shoes are my go-to. I have 3 different colors in the Chukka now. This shoe feels so broken in right out of the box that it's my top choice for a work shoe. I can't find a better product out there. Can't wait for summer, going to try a low top from JV...I'm sure this will be a great shoe as well.

Very soft and comfortable. This is my 2nd JV shoe. Someone said sole is thin and not great for walking all day - that could be true, but I'm fine walking in these shoes in NYC for at least 4-5 hours.

My son has flat feet and uses stilts to correct that with these boots because they are so flat. Overall, great boots, albeit pricy.

The best shoes I have ever bought! I'm usually not a shoes fanatic, and takes a lot to impress me, but when I saw this shoes on the website, I needed it. I was overjoyed when I received it and found out it's true to the size. It fits perfectly, very comfortable and light, and the color combination is just brilliant. This is the only shoes that I loved so much. This definitely is the money's worth.

Great looking Chukka boot with both jeans and chinos. These Chukka boots were more comfortable that I expected. You have to loosen the laces quite a bit to get them on initially, but it gets easier the more you wear them. Overall, I am very happy with these.

These are great shoes. I wore them hard for a year. A giant grease stain put an end to them. Look great, fit perfectly.

Bought these shoes for one of my roommates for Christmas, they look even better in person! He has larger feet (Size 12) and these boots don't make his feet look clunky like so many other boots. He says they're extremely comfortable and true to size. Unfortunately a factory defect meant we had to send them back and they were all out of the lead color, but he was happy with the Sepia ones he replaced them with. Highly recommend these boots, they look fantastic with jeans or dress pants.

Great shoe. Bought in olive color also. Need to almost unlace to get foot in, but does not feel narrow once it's on foot. I'm a teacher and standing/walking all day - super comfortable!

Sizing is unpredictable. I love the shoes but ended up ordering several before finding my size. Here's what happened. I ordered a pair of 9's. Then I saw them here for much less and ordered from here also intending to send the others back. Then I read the reviews and thought I better order a pair of 8.5's to compare! Now I have three pairs. Well the one pair of 9's were almost the same as the 8.5's. The other pair of 9's looked a size larger, at least, from the first 9's. Go figure. Quality control issue? Anyway, love the shoes. Stayed with the 8.5's.

Excellent boots. 2nd pair. Fit great, stylish. Only didn't like the light colored stiching so much on these. So I made them a darker brown with some brown ink. Looks great. Also the color is a nice dark suede brown. Thought they might be too light but no they are perfect. Will buy again.
