These are going back, I am very sad to say. My current pair (now wearing out the sole only) of Keen shoes were instant comfort from the moment I put them on. The changes they have made in the cut were immediately uncomfortable. The cut under ankle bone is too high as others have mentioned. Even the laces are much cheaper looking. I am still using the oniginals in my current pair with no wear showing!

I loved the look of this shoe. But the tongue was really stiff and rubbed the front of my lower ankle. (Actually caused a bruise by the end of the day.)

I've had several pairs of Keens over the years. I've noticed that some styles run small, some are about right. This style, Toyah, that I just purchased falls into the category of the style that runs small. For me, there's a catch-22. I suffer from gout, and right now one foot is still a bit swollen (it's only in one foot thank heavens). So, my solution is to keep the size I originally purchased (a 7.5), and I am buying another pair in a size 8 for my swollen foot. Otherwise, these are a great pair of shoes, as I've come to expect nothing less from Keen. I love the excellent arch support, the toe box is a bit snug but not entirely uncomfortable. I think the larger size will be perfect. If I buy a pair of shoes from Zappos on a weekday before 1:00pm (PST), the shoes arrive the next day before the close of the business day, so that's a great reason to buy from Zappos. Another plus is to read the reviews before you buy. It can be the difference between buying a pair of shoes that doesn't fit and you have to return them (which takes time) or buying a shoe that does fit because a review said that the shoe runs large or small. So, thank you to all of you out there that write honest reviews for future customers. It does not go unnoticed.

Loved the look of this shoe in the box, but not so much on my feet. I'll be wearing walking shoes primarily in city settings, and this looked too outdoorsy for me. The fit was roomy in the toe box, but the back rubbed at my heel and the overall feel was rather stiff.

I bought these for a trip to London because I thought they were the most stylish and subtle option of the waterproof Keens. However, I didn't end up wearing them very much. They don't have that immediate "broken in" feeling of a lot of Keens, so they feel clunky to wear. A bigger deal to me, though, was that they don't seem to cut low enough on the heel and ankle. I've never tried on a pair that had that issue, and though it never gave me blisters, it felt weird. The main reason I only wore these twice on my vacation, though, was that something about them made my feet and ankles swell like crazy. Once I switched to my athletic sandals and regular sneakers, the swelling stopped. The nice thing about these is that they really do have a substantial arch. I have a hard time finding shoes with arch supports as good as these -- even most Keens don't have great arches -- which is why I bought them. The waterproofing works nicely for when you're caught in a downpour or something. And they do look cute: a little less noticeably "hiking shoe" for when you're trying to be a little more subtle on a European vacation.

This is a cute shoe and I tried it because of a friend who loves it. However, my big toe bumps the top of it, and the top of it is hard! Some of us never have the luck to have a shoe at this price work!

I bought these shoes because I have a pair of black ones which I love for their comfort and fit. It's strange how the same shoe in a different color was not as comfortable! Thought it might be due to the fact that I'd worn the black ones often. But now I've worn the brindle ones just as often and they're just not as good. Weird.

A cute shoe but too wide in the toe box for my foot.

My issue is that at the ankle/opening at back of the shoe it should go in slightly (like a "u") instead of point up (does that make sense?). It literally stabs into my ankle with each step. I have other Keen shoes that do not do this.

Keen is making this shoe differently than in the past. I had purchased this shoe in size 8 1/2 twice before and it fit perfectly. When I tried this time it was too long, especially on my smaller foot. Even though the width was good, I could no longer use it. Boo hoo, it was my favorite shoe in the world. Oh Keen, where can I buy a pair of women's size 8 1/2 Toyah shoes the way you used to make them?

Two years previously I had purchased the Keen Toyah in black and I really loved them. So, this year I decided to buy a brown pair. Thus far, I have tried on two different pairs thinking that the first one had a manufacturer's defect. On closer inspection I discovered that they are now making the sides of the shoes higher and the shoes, overall, a little bigger. Keen's quality control seems to be lacking these days as well. The tongue of the right shoe (for each pair I tried) is about 1/2 inch longer than the left. The end result is that you feel the tongue hitting the top part of your ankle as you walk. I am very disappointed with the product.

I found these shoes to be stiff and unattractive. The fit was wide, with my toes swimming at the front, yet still feeling compressed along the top. The fit was just unforgiving and couldn't be laced to feel comfortable with my slightly different size feet.

I've been wearing Keen for eight years now and this is the first pair I've been unhappy with. The tongue is stiff and hits too high up my foot. I also feel as though they run much more narrow than in years past. Don't know why they've changed their designs after all these years. Boo Keen.

I was looking for a high-quality sneaker-like black shoe. This one is much uglier on my foot that it was in the photo, especially looking at it from above. They were heavy on my feet too. Though the inside seemed like it was comfy otherwise. I had to return them.

Oh, I am so disappointed! I have been in love with keen for the support and the out of the box like a glove feel. They changed the last! The foot bed in their shoes. I still have my old Presidio's but sadly they are falling apart. I have tried the new Presidio and now the Toyah. Both rub on the ankles and feel boxy and stiff. Sad but sending them back.

I have never had a problem with the fit & comfort of Keen shoes. I got these in the mail & for the 1st time was disappointed in their product. Didn't have the cushion, stability or comfort I have become such a big fan of.

I love Keen sandals, but the pair of Keen shoes that I owned a few years ago developed an annoying squeak. I ordered two pair of these recently and both pair squeaked right out of the box. Totally unacceptable, Keen!

I wore this shoe around the house for several weeks to gently break it in before taking a short stroll around the neighborhood. Unfortunately, the back of the heel is very stiff and rises to a point that digs into my skin every time I step on an uphill surface. Within one mile, my heels were bloody. Since I had already stained the shoe and could not return it, I padded my heels with two layers of mole skin before trying again, but was in excruciating pain before I finished my short hike.
