Being a Samba (Millennium ) wearer for many years, these sneakers are just not up to par. I don't know how they can state "full grain leather upper" when the shoes are obviously made of some cheap plastic material that 'squeaks' when you walk. Unfortunately, I did wear these around for the day and they do show signs of wear so Zappos probably wont refund my money if I were to return them. Good news is one of the reviewers was right and if you put some scotch tape on the tongue the squeaking will go away. Hindsight, I should have spent the extra on the Marathon 10's - similar look, way more comfortable.

Owned a pair of Sambas for the last 10 years. This pair, however, is different than the other ones. For some reason they decided to put the leather on the inside of where the lace holes are. This causes massive amounts of squeaking because it rubs against the tongue and is rather annoying. Adidas needs to redesign this shoe again because two months of owning this shoe the squeaking hasn't gone away. If you want loud shoes, these are for you.

These shoes are all show, no go. First of all, don't believe those who say they don't squeak. They squeak for months before finally being broken in enough to stop. Second, they are super fragile. Mine got a small tear in the suede part after only a few months of wear. Third, they are super uncomfortable if you are going to be on your feet for extended periods of time. At least they look cool though, right!

This is what I wanted: fly old-school stomps in a unisex size (for my wide forefoot). Almost got it; the heel was too wide and deep for my heel (narrow). Also, not as comfy as my retro Nike running shoes.

I was looking for a simple sneaker in black to wear to the gym. I'm recovering from surgery and am looking to build strength. I would never even run on a treadmill. I wanted them for basic gym comfort and they couldn't offer that. They were so much cheaper than I had anticipated. Yuck!

While I love the look of these shoes, I have had nothing but problems with them. The left shoe squeaks when I put my heel down, and the sound is as loud as the croaking frogs in our neighborhood lake. In addition, I have worn two blisters into the backs of my heels because of the high, very inflexible heel tab. I wore high socks one day, but the tab pushed into the socks and added even more friction to my ankles. I cut a vertical slit in the centers of the tabs, thinking this would allow some give, but that didn't do anything. I just got in from a walk wearing these things. Before setting out, I had to use packing tape to force the tabs to lie over the outsides of the heels. Unfortunately, on the right shoe the three layers of tape came loose half way through our walk, and I was forced to push the entire heel of the shoe down onto the sole and wear it as a slipper all the way home. I'm thinking I'm just going to cut the entire tabs out. I'll let you know if that gives me some relief. Still, I'm going to give these shoes a couple of stars because I like how they look.

Nice looking shoes. But don\'t buy these if you are concerned with comfort. I\'ve had my pair for over a month and the first days that I wore them, the shoes cut into the back of my ankle. It was so bad that I was really close to returning them. I was disappointed that this was happening with tennis shoes! Also, I have one shoes that squeaks. I hate that.

My son got a new pair of Sambas every fall for school for 3 years now, and they lasted all year. The only reason we replaced them was because he outgrew them. They were fantastic quality. I ordered them again this year and sent them right back! The leather is more like pleather now. It looks cheap and I could tell they wouldn't last. So bummed!

BUYER BEWARE. I have no idea how everyone is giving these five stars. I tried so hard to love Sambas -- the classic look and history behind these shoes. But I'm sad to say Adidas quality has dramatically decreased. This is my second pair of Sambas -- the first, I loved. They were sleek, stylish, and super comfortable when broken in My second pair was the same initially -- until they wore through the non-existent insole after about a month (which, the insole is glued in and cannot be removed). After that point, wearing these all day is like standing on concrete. There's little to no support, and my feet were so sore and unhappy after a full day of wear. Not only that, but these now feel too narrow -- so narrow that the entire left side of my foot is wearing a hole strait through the shoe just from walking in them. Instead of making a quality product, Adidas has instead chosen to use cheap, weak materials that don't hold up for the simplest, normal wear. I'm sad to see the quality of Sambas so drastically decline. If I could return these, I would.

I ordered this shoe based on the women's sizing. It was way too big! I could tell immediately looking at the shoe that it wouldn't fit. It's so big that it's hard to even estimate which size would actually fit.

If you like your shoes to make noise, every time you take a step, then these shoes are totally yours! If not, do not buy these shoes! I love Adidas classics and even their athletic shoes, but these have been the worst Adidas experience that I have ever had! And I love Adidas, but the build quality of the tongue makes it squeak every time you take a step or move your feet!

Extremely disappointed by the low quality materials, and they seem to be getting worse. This is my third pair of sambas in 5 years, the first pair lasted 3 years and was amazing until the sole wore bare at ball of my foot. The past two pairs have had a noticeable decline in materials, the "leather" appears to be made out of cheap plastic ("pleather") as it's overly shiny and unnatural looking, and the suede at the toe is so flimsy that my big toe wore through the past pair in less than 3 months rendering them unwearable. It's a shame that a great looking, timeless classic shoe like this has to be ruined by Adidas skimping on quality.

I love Sambas, but these are awful. I generally wear the classics, but I bought these short-tongue Originals and they are so loud. They squeak when I walk and draw strange looks from my coworkers. I've even tried putting hand-lotion on the tongues. No luck. Don't buy these. I really wish I had bought the tried and true Classic Sambas. such a bummer.

Tongue is super thin and made cheaply plus is too long making contact with the front of my ankle; however, too short to fold over laces. Doesn't dig in but its annoying. The heel comes out of the shoe even with laces tied tight and all ports being used. I have a normal sized foot and shoe just doesn't feel right.

These shoes are terrible and Adidas should take them off the market immediately. Sure, they look nice and are comfortable, but they constantly squeak. As others have mentioned, you can rub lotion on the tongue and the squeaking stops, but it's only temporary. You will have to constantly reapply lotion. Who wants to do that? I've worn them almost every day for 6 months, and the squeaking hasn't stopped. Suitable shoes for a clown. I would suggest getting the version with the fold over tongue. For some reason, these don't have the squeaking issue.

I'm so completely done with Sambas. After years of wearing them with everything, and being super-excited about my yearly new pair, I am out. These are awful now. After Zappos exchanged the first pair I realized that Adidas inexplicably changed the sizing conversion for women. I had high hopes that the problem was solved. No such luck. The tongue is not puffy anymore, instead it digs into where the top of your foot meets the bottom your shin. And the soles do not have even a fraction of the support they used to. I know Sambas' soles wear out fast, but I should not feel it by the second wearing. Also, my heels felt tilted inward, again, by the second time I walked in them. My toes felt smushed, too. These are awful shoes, but I have worn them too much, in the hope they would break in, to return them.. I miss the old Sambas; the ones that felt like slippers, but could pass with a jeans skirt. These suck.

I have been wearing Sambas for many years. I wear jeans and Sambas 90 percent of the time. I have always appreciated the quality of the product. I will never order another pair on line. When compared to the old pair of sambas that I am still wearing and this new pair from Zappos was smaller, cheaper, poor quality, and very uncomfortable. I was expecting an identical product and was so disappointed. I will try going back to purchasing from Academy to see if the problem is with Zappos, or if Adidas has outsourced their manufacturing and something else that I have come to depend on in life. It now leaves me disappointed.

I was seriously disappointed with the new design of these Sambas. They have a plastic tongue which squeaks loudly, and according to other reviews I've read this doesn't go away with wear so I am going to return them. I don't know how Adidas could have overlooked this design flaw. Other smaller detail changes are annoying as well: the heel rises too far up so it is uncomfortable on the Achilles in no-show socks, and the laces are far too long. The last pair I had owned was the Samba K's which have a leather tongue, and were so comfortable that I wore them until they fell apart (and were noiseless). Unfortunately, that model has been discontinued.

They squeak when you walk due to the upper tongue rubbing against the laces and the tongue slides down the outside (no slots on the tongue to insert the laces through).

I am from Europe so ordered size was 42/43 (per conversion chart that is 9.5). Received size is 9.5 but 43 1/3 (too big). Per my shipping restrictions I can't send it back. Useless shopping.

I wrote a review previously about these. I said that the squeak could be fixed with saddle soap. This is true, but it requires that one do this every other week to prevent squeak. The shoe looks good but i would not buy these as the squeaked is a real problem. Shame on you Adidas for putting this on the market without looking at the material closer.

Do not buy this shoe. The sole is cheap rubber, with fake molded stitching, and the upper is imitation pleather. The whole shoe squeaks so badly when I walk that I had to take them off and go buy new shoes at lunchtime.

I had a pair of Sambas about 10 years ago and remember them being one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. I now have a job that requires me to walk/stand for 6-9+ hours a day so I decided to go back to what I thought would be a reliably comfortable shoe. Wow, have things changed at Adidas for the worse. The shoe felt too small in every dimension (especially width), and had none of the arch support that my old Sambas had. This experience is consistent with another pair of Adidas (Superstar 2) I tried within the last year that were absolutely horrendous. I don't think Adidas makes the quality of shoe they used to and will avoid them in the future.
