The squeaking CAN BE FIXED!!!!! Great shoes. Look good, feel good. Only issue: THE HORRENDOUS SQUEAKING. I work in a library and stubbornly kept wearing these even though I sounded like I had two quacking ducks attached to my feet. Patrons glared at me. Other librarians tried to be polite about it. I looked fantastic but I was living in shame. After months of embarrassment, I couldn’t take it any longer. This morning I desperately smeared Vaseline all over the top side of the tongue in the hope that it would do something. Anything at all. The result: perfect, beautiful SILENCE. I have spent a peaceful day unobtrusively walking all over the library, back and forth, up and down. It’s like gliding on air. My presence goes unnoticed. I am able to sneak up on people. My feet make no noise whatsoever. The ducks are a thing of the past. So fellow librarians, museum-goers, and people who don’t want to sound like clowns: no need to give up on the Sambas. Just add a little grease.

Great quality. I have been using them for over a year, and no clear sign of wear. Not the most comfortable shoe, but it does just fine.

These shoes fit me like a glove. My foot size is between 10 and 10.5 and the 10.5's fit perfect. Its hard to find shoes that fit this well. My only gripe is the squeaking. You sound like spongebob when you walk down the street. I still havent found a way to completely elimiate the squeaking. I put a little saddle soap on the tounge but it wears off eventually and the squeaking starts again.

I like them most for the way they look. The first pair I tried turned out to be too tight, and even the larger pair that fits better still squeaks when I walk. I think it's the tongue rubbing up near where it exits the laced portion. So long as that dissipates soon enough, I'll be satisfied with them.

So...five stars for style and I took one off for comfort. The leather is extremely hard and difficult to break in. I first ordered these in a 7 men / 8 women (I usually wear an 8 in women's Adidas) and they felt a whole size too big, so I went down to the 6 men / 7 women...I probably should have gone with the half size, but I figured the leather would stretch a bit. Not so much.

I'M NOT CERTAIN IF THE MALE SIZES ARE TRULY ACCURATE TO THE WOMEN SIZES ON THIS WEBSITE, AS I WEAR A 7.5 IN MOST SNEAKERS AND THE 6 AND 6.5 IN MEN'S WERE ONE AND ONE AND A HALF SIZE TOO LARGE FOR ME. THEY ARE CUTE SHOES BUT THEY SEEM A BIT STIFF AND WILL REQUIRE BREAKING IN.

Very comfortable, and great fit, but very squeaky. Even tried both water and lotion under the laces. Both helped temporarily, but the squeak always comes back. Hoping it goes away once they're broken in!

This is my second pair in 3.5 years; the soles finally wore through. I bought the exact same size that I was wearing (13) and they appeared smaller when I took them out of the box. Tried them on, and there was barely any room to move my toes. Upon holding the new pair up to the old sole-to-sole, I could see that the new pair was about 3/4" smaller. Really, really strange. Maybe a defective pair? Planning to size up to 14.

Shoes do not fit to size! I read posts the shoes are a half size too small...this is true. I highly recommend buying a half size larger as this pair of shoes is smaller than my other pairs of Sambas bought direct from Adidas.

What is lacking in arch support this shoe makes up for style. Both my husband and I ordered the same shoe for walking and casual activity. I'm a size 6 and my pair was true to fit but I have narrow feet. My husband is an 8 1/2 but had to size down and he has wide feet so we are willing to send this shoe to a cobbler and have it stretched. It's added cost but the original price is very reasonable that we are willing to pay for those extras in exchange for the classic style of the shoe. Overall we love the Samba.

I really like these shoes. They are comfortable and look great. I have gotten quite a few compliments since I purchased them. However, I normally wear a size 8 but had to return them for 7.5. Also, at first the tongue was super stiff and kept rubbing hard against my ankle but that went away but that went away after about a week or so. Overall, I love these shoes and I think they would be a great addition to any woman's shoe collection!

Shoes look great, but the fit is small. I have never met a pair of size 13 shoes I don't fit in, but these are uncomfortably small. Much more like a 12. I'm assuming this may be the case with other sizes, so you may want to order big.

Well, I read the reviews before ordering my Sambas. The majority of them said to order up (1/2 size) and so I did. TOO BIG. I exchanged the 7-1/2 for a 7 (my typical size in every type of shoe). Well, I wouldn't say WAY too small, but I wouldn't be comfortable if I wore an 'athletic' ped. My toe was already hitting the end of the shoe. SO, I remembered that my OLD Sambas were hand-me-downs from my SON!! HA!! So I ordered a 5-1/2 in boys and I'm HOPING they fit. The beauty if Zappos--if they don't, I exchange for possibly a 5 or I RETURN them. How's THAT for a cliff-hanger? :)

I have owned a few pairs of these shoes. However its been a while they fit small than normal. I can usually buy size 9 shoes and be okay. These were small. I needed a half size bigger. I sold them to a friend who needed shoes.

I bought these more for style - wanted a more diminutive look with jeans and maybe some shorts. They are narrower feeling than the Sambas I had decades ago, but overall they look great and do the job.

Classic style. I like these shoes for everyday casual wear but if out for extended walking you may want something with better support.

I like the look of these shoes and comfortable too. My only issue is that they squeak quite a bit as I walk around, and this has gotten a little louder after a few weeks wear. I read some solutions in other comments but haven't tried them yet.

Fit great, very comfortable. Easy to slip on and can wear them anywhere. Sometime the tongue of the shoe slips over to the outside too much but besides that it's pretty much one of the best pairs of shoes I've owned.

I was looking for an acceptable approximation of the Otomix shoes worn by the The Dude in The Big Lebowski. These are visually passable, but VERY wearable and comfortable.

This is an international classic. I found the the classics (with the large tongue) to be a slightly more comfortable shoe. Not that I have that much of an issue with the Original Samba Leather. They are great shoes.

Compatible yes, comfortable no. In my opinion this shoe is the epitome of sacrificing comfort for style. Are they extremely uncomfortable? Not at all. However, if they didn't suit my style so much they wouldn't be a shoe I'd wear often. Again this is just me. I also believe Adidas is well aware they are a sought after model so they have the ability to mark up the price. I've worn cheaper sneakers that are more comfortable than these and appeared to have similar quality. But with this being said I would buy these shoes again. They are so compatible with an array of outfits and they simply never seem to get dated.

A classic. They seem to run true to width, but order a 1/2 size larger. The only reason that I gave them 4 stars overall is due to the squeaking but a bit of hand lotion on the tongue seems to have solved that issue.

Have had this pair before in gray leather but the classic black seems to have a foam lip that is very noisy and annoying when walking. Other than the squeak the shoe is very comfortable and stylish.

These are overall great, comfortable shoes. It might be because they are new or because of the time of year but my feet do get a little overheated in them. They also do squeak which is not a big deal unless you are in a silent room. I read another review where someone put lotion on the tongue, which I tried and works temporarily (like a day), but the squeaking has not gone away permanently yet.

My husband has owned many pairs of Sambas through the years and he chose these for the classic look. They are pretty much what you expect except they will squeak for a bit for a while until the leather wears in.
