Great boot - instantly comfortable. Already had in black but didn't like the finish on dark brown vintage, so returning.

Love these boots and love Zappos! I ordered these last night around 5:00pm and this morning at 9:30 they arrived - amazing. I have average to wider calves and these boots fit perfectly, a bit snug at first but wearing them around they have loosened up and are already beginning to form to my feet well. Very well made and very comfortable under jeans or wearing over skinny jeans. Was hesitant about the price but these will last for a very long time and are excellently made - it's worth the price!

I am in love! Not only with these boots but with Zappos too. First off these boots are classic! The style looks great with leggings, dresses, skirts, and skinny jeans. They are slimming on the leg. I got the cognac color and was hesitant that I wouldn't like it because I hadn't seen them in real life...but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. The color is a deep brown with reddish tones to it...very versatile. I am normally a size 9-9 1/2 and purchased a 9 and they fit great. Don't let the price scare you away; these boots are well worth every penny.

This was my first time purchasing from Zappos. The order was very prompt with no mistakes. I ordered 3 pairs of the Frye Melissa Button boot because I wasn't sure of which color I wanted. I am so glad I did that because 2 of the colors had a way different texture in the leather and did not look like the picture at all. The Tan color boot was a major disappointment because the texture felt like a cheaper leather than the cognac. I love my boot a lot and I want to thank Zappos for finding it and shipping it so quickly.

I was very hesitant to buy this because they are so expensive. When I got them in the mail, I thought that they seemed really tight and that they didn't fit, but the half size up was too big. I took a plunge and wore them out one day, and have not taken them off since. They have broken in really nicely, and are worth every penny. It's been a month or so of wearing them every day, and I think they will last forever. I would recommend getting the Frye leather protectant spray to use on them.

If anyone is confused about the 3 black color options of black like I was here's a little explanation. I first ordered the black vintage and when I received them realized that they had a worn look to them, and some white-ish distressing in certain parts and they were very nice but a little more rugged than what I had in mind, so I returned them and ordered the black soft vintage which turned out to be a beautiful solid black rich leather, exactly what I had in mind, they can be casual or dressy and I can't wait to wear them with skinny jeans and black tights in the fall. The black brush off option was not available in my size so I did not order them, not sure how that option compares to the black vintage or soft black vintage. Also, these boots are beautifully made, my first pair of Frye and I'm already a loyal fan. They are very sturdy and have a little bit of a cushioned sole so I think they will be very comfortable.

Thank you Zappos- great customer service. The boot is great.leather is soft. For me-easy to get off and on. I have been looking for "the boot". I would buy try and return. I read the reviews and gave it a try. So happy I did. I usually wear 8.5. 8.0 fit perfect. All I can say is Welcome Home Frye Boot! Welcome Home!

I was looking for the perfect brown boot and I found it with the Melissa boot. Great to wear with jeans, leggings, skirts. Fabulous fit and quality.

I love these boots! My first pair of Frye boots, major purchase for me, but no regrets! It took me a couple of tries with sizing (I'm a size 9); they were a bit big, got the 8 and 1/2 and they are perfect. If you are on the fence about these boots, or ordering from Zappos for the first time, go for it. This company has amazing customer service. I don't know how they do it, but I plan on ordering a lot more from them. You have nothing to lose with free shipping both ways! Love Zappos, and you will love these boots!

I love my boots! It was a major purchase for me, one that I thought about for ages before taking the plunge. But I don't regret it at all. Stylish, classic, comfy and versatile.

These are great boots. They are so comfortable that I wear them for hours and do not realize I have knee high boots on. They are not slippery outside or inside because of the rubber on the heel and they stretch to your foot very quickly after wearing them the first time. They actually are warm, too, and I never wear socks under them. They look great over skinny jeans and are worth every penny. I rated the arch support as moderate, but I do not personally need this as my foot is high arched and this is not a consideration for me while it might be for others.

Too big around the calf. I must have the most stick legs in the nation because these were too baggy around them and created more of a cowboy look than I would have preferred. Comfortable though! But I will be returning these.

Beautiful pair of boots but a bit on the narrow side. Also, the sole is slippery and the boot itself is a bit hard to break in. Unfortunately, I'm going to save myself the pain and going to return. May try a size bigger. Other than that, they are lovely boots!

I disagree with a lot of the reviews for this boot. Though the leather is amazing and clearly the Frye brand speaks for itself, I find these boots incredibly uncomfortable. I have average width feet and they rub both my big toe and my little toe. The slip in the shoe bed (despite all my efforts to prevent slippage). And, they are really hard to get on and off (and I have small calves). I've had them for two years and have only worn them 5 times. I wish I could sell them or something to get something else. They take up too much space in my closet.

So sad. These boots are gorgeous. The leather is heavenly and glossy and smells amazing. I have 3 other Frye boots but never have been able to get into a pair of tall boots that fit my calves. These are snug -- though they are "extended". I wish they had a little insert of elastine or a panel that would give just a little more room. I can wear them with tights but not with jeans -- that is my wish. I can only rate a 1 since the main idea is these should be extended!

The 5½ was too small, that was the size that I wore in my previous Frye boots. I ordered a fawn color but what I received was more of a brown - like my other, old boots. As to the width, I do not really know as I could not get my feet down to the bottom of the boots.

This is my second pair of the Frye Melissa Button boot. I worn the sole of the shoe out after four years. To say I love these boots is an understatement. I went to Europe for two weeks and did not bring another pair of shoes. They are amazing; feel amazing and look amazing with everything. It is by far the best money I have ever spent on any clothing item. Ever Period. I have the Cognac Soft Vintage Leather (they are currently being resoled at the local boot repair shop). Since they had to go away for 10 days and winter is not over, I had to buy a replacement pair. :) Oh they are beautiful. The color (I bought the Bordeaux Vintage Leather this time) is amazing, will go with everything and is different from my old pair that will be repaired in the next few weeks. I bought my last ones from Bloomingdales, but ZAPPOS by far had the best selection of color, size and style of the Frye boots.

These boots seemed to fit true to size, but when I had them on, I felt they were a little more "cowgirl" than I was looking for. Without a zipper, I thought they were too much work to get on/off, and it was hard to get my pants to be arranged nicely (not bunchy) inside them.

Love these boots. My first pair of Frye and I hope there will be many more. I am normally an 8N...I got a 7.5 medium, though they are just a tiny bit wide, I still love them and they are super comfy...comfy from day 1! For medium feet, be prepared to pull them on and off...easy for me but probably a little challenging for the average foot. Get them!

Favorite boots ever. These are my 3rd pair of Frye boots and I'd wear them to sleep if it made sense! Very comfortable, true to size, great leather.

I decided I was in need of a good quality flat brown-ish leather boot and after reading tons of reviews I ordered both the Melissa button in burgundy brush off and the Melissa back zip in wine soft antique. I ended up keeping the Melissa buttons for the following reasons: 1) the Melissa buttons create a more flattering silhouette on my body. I am 5'5 with average-thin calves and pear shaped. The dip at the top and the curved back of the boot gives a nice shape to my calves and balances my hips. The straight up-and-down fit of the Melissa back zips on the other hand made my calves look too skinny and created an unflattering contrast to my hips. If you have a curvy lower half I would recommend the Melissa buttons; they are fitted yet shapely and will complement your curves. 2) The Melissa buttons are very low maintenance. Unlike other reviewers I had no problem slipping these boots on and off. The no zipper factor is very appealing to me. I have a wide-ish foot and wear a size 8.5-9 and went with the 8.5 and they are just right. 3) The style of the Melissa buttons is more cool and casual, yet still versatile. They have a bit more personality and feel fun to wear. They are a bit different and this makes them awesome. I also want to note that the color and leather of each boot was beautiful (I ordered the colors that were on sale). Both colors are unique yet can still act as neutrals. I'm thinking that the stiffer brush off leather is a good choice for the Melissa buttons because it will prevent them from slouching too much. The wine color on the others was great though and I was sad to see it go. Overall I am very excited about my new Frye boots! I ordered the Frye conditioning treatment and plan to take care of these boots; I don't think I'll be able to purchase another brand in the future; the quality of Frye is just too perfect!

I had been lusting after these boots for months before finally getting them for my birthday two weeks ago. I would have had my husband order them in advance, but both of my other pairs of Fryes are different sizes (one is 9.5 and one is 9) and I wasn't sure if my calves would fit in these, as they're pretty muscular and I've had problems with boots before. Some of the reviews said that these fit larger calves fine, but they also come in the extended calf sizes so I wasn't quite sure which to choose. I decided to go to the actual Frye store in SoHo, as we live in NYC, and I tried them on. I first tried the regular style, where the 9 was a little bit tight and the 9.5 fit perfectly, but they were both pretty tight around my calf. I then tried on the extended calf style and the 9 fit absolutely perfect! My only complaint is that the colors in the extended calf are way more limited than the regular style. I had been hoping to get them in brown but ended up getting them in cognac instead, which luckily isn't as red in person as in some of the pictures I've seen. Anyway, I ADORE these boots. I have only gotten to wear them 4 times because I don't want to wear them in the rain, but the first three times they were perfectly comfortable and I only got a blister the fourth time I wore them, which was just because I was walking A LOT. They're already starting to get broken in, they fit perfectly over my skinny jeans but will look great with a skirt in the spring, and I've gotten so many compliments on them already! I love them so so much and highly recommend them! Also, I didn't know this until I went into their store, but Frye has a 2 year warranty on all of their boots. I need to get my Veronica Slouch boots resoled (and of course they're now 3 years old, and I haven't worn them in over a year because the soles are so worn out) but they said that they will resole them, and it will still be less expensive than taking them to a random cobbler. I would much rather trust the boots to them anyway! Love Frye! :)

Just got these today and they are great. I have the Veronica Slouch boot and wear them pretty much every day so I decided to splurge on a new pair of Fryes. I have to say I went back and forth on the colors. I wanted something different from dark brown because that is what my other pair is. I liked the idea of gray, but the pictures on the site did not look gray. Well, they are not gray at all. They are more like a lighter brown taupe color. regardless they are a cool color and I will keep them. For sizing my shoes are pretty evenly split between 7.5 and 8. My Veronica are 8 so I went with that as I live in Chicago and need to wear a real sock. They fit great and no problems getting them on. Another win for Frye.

Love these! I have them in two colors and wear them constantly. They hold up well over time, and are totally worth the money. They will last for years. They do break in a bit, and become even more comfortable as you wear them. I constantly get compliments and love that they are a classic look with quality leather.
