Will give you blisters on the back of your foot, whatever material they use for the ankle straps is terrible. Poor practicality, but cute style. Check the photos of the reviews to see all the people who received blisters and yet Teva doesn't change the materials/design.

The back strap felt too low and having seen a negative review regarding this, I chose another style.

I was so excited to get some comfy shoes for a festival I'm going to in the summer. My friend always says how great their Tevas are for walking long periods! I got a pair of these and went on a long walk to try them out. Unfortunately, they rubbed the back of my ankles raw. I want to get a different type of Teva to see if that could be helpful but I am nervous! I see a lot of reviews on how the overall quality of Teva has changed and I hope that isn't true!

I have worn my Tevas for years. They are probably 8 years old. Wanted new ones for a European cruise this summer. Loved the cute color. But after wearing them around the house, the strap just rubs at my ankle and am getting a heel sore. Tried 2 different days. Disappointed.

I bought these sandals in 2019 and they are the best sandals I have ever owned! Sturdy, comfortable, durable, adjustable. Then I bought the 2025 version and unfortunately had to take them back. The newer style has a higher ankle strap made of a harder material, and it digs into my ankle bone and my tendon at the back of my heel. I compared them to my old sandals to confirm the strap is indeed designed differently. I don't know how anyone can find this strap comfortable unless you have very high ankle bones and thick skin. Which is a shame because the rest of the shoe is still great - sturdy sole, comfortable, lined straps, good tread on the bottom. I ended up buying Teva Tirra style instead, which has a much more comfortable ankle strap, but is far less sturdy and I won't be able to hike in that style as I could with this style. If you don't think this will blister your ankle, then it should still be a good shoe; otherwise, beware because these shoes are not the same as they used to be.

This sandal fit perfectly on the left foot. On the right foot it caused a blister to be formed over my Achilles tendon area. This blister formed from walking in the Seattle airport between flights, so it wasn't a an excessive amount of walking. I tried wearing socks, I tried readjusting the straps but I did not have any success in finding a comfortable fit. Sadly, this pair of shoes will not work for me. I've worn other Teva sandals before and was very happy, so this problem was a real surprise for me.

These are cute sandals and I'm sorry to have to return them. I'd like to find a comfortable sandal for travel. I normally wear a 5.5 and trued the Tirra both in the usual size and in a 6. The 5.5 was the better fit. While the sole felt good and offered sufficient arch support, the outer strap rubbed against my ankle and began hurting just walking in them briefly. The heel strap might also have been problematic in time, as it sits on the curve of the heel, not above it, and rubbed against the skin of my heel as I walked, though it was not irritating in the short time I tried them. Teva made returning the bigger size easy so I appreciate the good customer service.

My 2019 Tirra's are still some of my favorite shoes, though quite worn out by now. But my 2024 newer ones cut into my heel (at least on one side.) Looking at them side by side, the strap on the back is too high on the newer models. I see other reviewers say the same thing, that it cuts into their heel. Don't buy the newer model! Teva, please please fix this! I tried to contact Teva and the chat person tried to explain the "feedback" tab on the website - it does not pop up for me. So here I leave my review. Teva, what sandals do you have that will not cut into my heel? The lady recommended the Hurricane XLT2, so I might try it out, but doesn't appeal to me quite as much in terms of style.

I have bought Teva for years. They (all styles) were always comfortable straight out of the box. My latest Tirra are awful.. The back heel strap cuts and causes blisters. There is something not right about the ankle strap it digs in. The foot straps seem badly position and out of alignment. The neoprene is thin and so the strap edges cut into my toes. The sole is horrible and hard and gives a lumpy feeling when walking. The arch support seems odd and does alighn as well. I would not recommend these anymore. They use to be so reliable and you could walk, hike for days in them. Either someone has tweaked the design to much or something is going wrong at the factory. Or maybe too much Computer Assisted design...instead of knowledge of foot dynamics. Def not deserving of best seller labels anymore.

This is the fourth pair of this style I have purchased in the last five years. I wear them all summer long and love them. I bought a different color just recently and when they arrived, I wore them for a full day but that night my heel was sore and i had a small cut. Tried wearing them with a bandage on my heel but unfortunately, I have to return them. Wearing my older worn sandals again. May try buying the color I have worn for the last 3 years. Black with gray. The new color is Bering Sea that doesn't work for me.

For the price point, these sandals actually kind of suck. The back is super uncomfortable because the straps / closure is awful, it was shaped round, not molded to an ankle. I wore them & realized I hated them but the return wasn't possible because they'd been worn- so now I'll use them for lake days

I still have a pair of Teva Olowahu sandals (flip flops) that're about 15 years old, and I absolutely love them. I've worn them hiking in the Swiss Alps and kayaking in Oregon. Fabulous shoes, but I'm a registered Maine State sea kayak guide and can't wear them for work. I needed something more secure with better support and rugged bottoms for our sharp rocky beaches. I decided to try a pair of Teva Tirra sandals. I tried on a pair locally and found them really comfortable, so I ordered a pair directly from the company. Unfortunately, they arrived literally the day before my first guided trip of the season, so I didn't have time to wear them around the house or break them in. On my first day wearing them, I was so disappointed. They absolutely chewed up the back of my ankles! Not uncommon for new shoes, but I've never had sandals do that. Since I'd already worn them, I couldn't return them, so I plastered on bandaids and wore them again the next day. I noticed that the angle of the ankle strap is cut too high for my feet so the bottom part doesn't even touch my skin. I assume that's contributing to the rubbing on the back. No matter how I loosen them or adjust the straps, they just rub. The second problem with them is that once I get them wet, my feet aren't secure in the shoe. The soles under my feet become so slick that they slide around in the shoe, making it dangerous carrying heavy kayaks on our uneven ground. I'm really bummed because they really felt like they'd be a perfect fit when I first tried them on. At this point, I'm still in search of a rugged pair of water sandals for guiding this summer. I still love my other Tevas enough that I'd be willing to try a different style, but I'm not as confident they'll be a good fit.

I have been buying these same sandals for my daughter for several years. I bought pairs for both of my kids this year and they've both got big blisters on their heels. I'm super disappointed after loving these for many years previously. It's a lot to spend on something they won't wear now.

I was very disappointed with this sandal. The arch support looked very good but the high point hit about a half inch too soon for my arch. It made the shoe very uncomfortable to wear. Another issue is when making the toe box a little tighter there isn't enough velcro to hold it in place so I'm left with straps somewhat flapping that I can hit while walking if I'm not careful.

I like that they take me in wet places and dry quickly I don't like that 1) They seem more flimsy, less sturdy than 3-4 yrs ago and 2) the ankle strap is angled to high -hits above my ankle. I will not buy again.

8.23.21 Have had this sandal for years - but needed to buy a new pair this summer This sole is slippery on rocks - flat surfaces and not. Little and big, wet or dry Thought it was a one moment new shoe issue - but the slippery continues. Makes it really hard to wear them taking a "hike " on a basically urban wooded path with rocks, exposed roots etc. small up and down "hills". I am thinking I have to return them

I would venture a guess that the company has sold. The Tiva sandals that I bought 8 years ago had a choice of wide widths. Recently bought a pair and there was no choice in widths and the size was to small plus quality was not there. I ended giving them away to a friend with narrow feet.

I was really disappointed. I like Teva as a brand and loved the color & design of the sandals. I loved the cushiony feel while walking, but that ankle strap on the front of my foot kept biting me. That was me walking in my apartment. I wouldn't chance being that uncomfortable and potentially getting blisters by taking a walk outside. I tried several times to adjust and walk around. The material that surrounds the velcro ankle strap is very irritating. Be aware.

Disappointed. I've worn this style of Teva's for years. Always a size 11 in women's. This time, it's a good half size too small. When I hold them up next to each other (old vs new) the difference is noticeable. My go-to shoe for hiking and now I have to go find a new one.

I have three other pairs of these sandals. I think the manufacturer has changed the sole of this shoe. It’s hard plastic and the arch support is nothing like it used to be.

I have had a pair of Tirras for a couple years, recommended them to everyone, and they have worn great! I bought another pair this year and unfortunately the quality seems to have gone down significantly. They wore poorly in the first Three months of having them. Adventure sandals should be a bit more durable, I'm very disappointed in this experience since they are fairly expensive. I'll have to consider different brands in the future as my beloved Teva seems to have stopped providing the same top notch quality I am used to getting from them.

I have several pairs of Tirra's and like them a lot. However, I recently ordered and received the olive pair, and had to send them back. They were defectively manufactured I would say. The heel part where my heels lay were poked by four nibs (or nipples) of the material used to make the topside sole. It happened on each shoe, the right and left. It's like they weren't finished all the way, and the nibs were left to poke and rub my heels. Very uncomfortable. The other colors I have of this shoe did not have this problem. Otherwise, I like this sandal very much on my other colors I have gotten thru the years.
