Just got these yesterday and they feel great! I've had the same pair of engineer boots for over ten years, and they finally fell apart. I wasn't looking forward to breaking in a new pair, so these are perfect, have that worn in feeling right out of the box. One thing to note - they are very difficult to get on at first (I am talking difficult), but after a few times, the top leather stretches enough to make it easier. I am a size 11 and these fit true to size with minimum slip in the heel. I walk 4+ miles a day to work and back and my walk to work was a breeze. All around great-looking and feeling boots.

I purchased these in distressed dark brown for my husband for Christmas. Very nice boots, ran true to size. The distressing on them was substantial though, enough that they can't be worn as dress shoes. Great with jeans and casual clothes though. He says they are very comfortable and break-in time was almost non-existent.

These boots are fantastic, with a snug fit that forms to the foot. The foot bed is well padded and very comfortable. The shaft of this boot is very loose-goose (like you can tuck in your pants with no effort). Though the top is very loose the foot is held extremely well by the beautiful made foot interior. The construction is super well done. The boots look like they have been beaten to death (in a good way). I would say the weight is about medium light, not *light* but certainly not heavy. Distressed Dark Brown is very dark indeed, and easily mistaken for black in most indoor light. My physical foot measures exactly between 10.5 and 11. The 10.5 in this boot fits perfectly (Frye suggests you drop down instead of up if you fall between), I couldn't be happier with them.

Just wanted to say I love these boots! However, they seem to run larger as I was advised so I ordered a 9.5, and normally I wear 10's of Puma's, Nike's, and Dr. Martens. Woo!

I purchased these boots two weeks ago for motorcycle riding and they are awesome! They look amazing and are extremely comfortable. They fit like a standard Roper-style cowboy boot, but offer biker styling. I highly recommend these! Fit is true to size. Zappos was great to do business with, too !

I ordered these boots on a Wednesday and chose 3-5 day shipping (the cheapest) and Zappos gave me free shipping (thanks!). Then, I got an email saying that they upgraded me for 2 day shipping for free (awesome)! I got the boots on a Friday and they are awesome!

It's a really nice boot. Just one thing to say. Instep is a big issue. I have to stretch the instep of the boots for 1 whole week at the shoe repair shop. It's impossible to put your feet in. True to size. The problem is at the neck area. But don't buy 1 size larger. Stretching is the only solution. Trust me. This boot is made in Mexico and quality and style is really good.

These puppies feel pretty broken in from the get-go. They felt maybe a 1/2 size larger than normal, and had some heel slip. But a pair of boot socks took care of that. Super fast shipping, even to my FPO address.

I got these for my husband. They were just a bit snug to slip on, but once his foot was in, they felt great. They had that broke-in feel right away.

Hands down, best boot out there. I am a size 12, and they fit true to size. Amazing durability, quality, and comfort. I won't be buying another pair of boots for years. If you don't have them, get them.

I've had this pair for 6 months now. I had to replace the soles, and the heel pad wore out in one boot. Ive also had them leather-treated a few times. So ive spent a lot on them since I bought them which I wasn't expecting. That being said, they look great and feel great.

I first ordered an 11 for my boyfriend since he is normally a size 10 1/2in other boots. They arrived, and he could not get his foot inside. We tried - I pushed, he pushed, nothing worked. The part of the boot right above the heel seamed really tight, even when opening the buckle. So, we sent them back and I ordered an 11 1/2 and a size 12. When they arrived we were sure that they would fit, but he could not get his foot inside either pair, ended up returning them both. Really sad because he loves them; the quality is great, color was a little darker than in the pictures but they were perfect. Now we are looking for something comparable but can't find anything as cool.

Quite simply, these are some of the best boots on the market. They leave every other engineer/biker boot I've tried on to shame. After two weeks or less of break-in period, these are a dream to wear even when on your feet all day. Yes, they are expensive, but they are WORTH IT. Frye is a great brand and they are manufactured in Mexico instead of China or Thailand like most "American-designed" leather boots. As with most boots of this style, they are very slightly larger than normal shoe sizes. The best thing about these boots in my opinion that set them apart from everything else is the footbed and solid arch support.

The Frye Rogan Engineer is my first boot in years to fit and feel the way it should. Rugged and stylish with good functional form for anyone on the go or on their feet all day. Fits roughly 1/2 size smaller than standard shoe. An absolute must for the winter and travels cool, rainy climate. High recommended!

These are extremely disappointing in quality I got these as a graduation present on May 25. It is now July 20, so about two months of use. I am a 6' 210 pound guy. The good: The look great - I liked them immediately, and got compliments at work. They broke in easily - went from very hard to get foot in to pretty easy to get foot in in about 10 wears. I had to loosen the buckle for a while. I wore them with jeans and khakis - I agree with another reviewer - they are not formal boots. The minor bad: The liner inside has a piece of material that that goes from the heel to about the arch of the boot - it is the part that you can see when you look in the boot. The glue came undone from the front, of this pad when I pulled my foot out the second time, so it rolls up under my foot. Annoying and disappointing considering the price. Major Problem: The sole of these boots is terrible. I would not recommend these boots to anyone because of it. It is an extremely hard and thin piece of rubber. Because there is no shank in the sole, after a while on your feet, you can actually feel the line where the support from the raised heel of the boot ends. This is why I gave them a no arch support review. Because the sole is so hard, it is also extremely slippery - almost like leather bottom shoes. Lastly, and the most importantly - the sole split on both boots under the balls of the feet. The bottom of the upper can be seen in the crack. The crack all the way across one boot, and half way across the other - I have stopped wearing them. I did not want them to be bad, so I ignored the flappy foot pad, the slipperiness, but I cannot believe that I split the sole after wearing them (not everyday) for less than two months. I am so so so disappointed.

I just received these boots today, after searching for weeks for a pair of boots that fit. I'm in between sized. a 7 1/2 is too tight on width and a 7 1/2 wide is too wide, so I just ordered a size 8 and they fit perfectly. I have a little tiny bit of extra toe room, but they fit snug width wise and are extremely comfortable. Easily the best boot I've worn in over ten years, hands down. Beautifully crafted and durable. True to size, but a little snug, I can tell if I was an actual size 8 they would be extremely snug. The boots are ridiculously hard to get on at first. I've taken them off and struggled for a while to put them back on 4 times today and still pretty difficult. I'm hoping it gets easier like everyone says. But other than that, a superb boot.

I ordered the boots in Dark Brown Vintage, Size 12. The color is exactly what I was looking for, not so dark that they look black but not too light either. The boots immediately started to get that nice broken in look/character that I was looking for in a boot like this. Seeing them in person, I think they are certainly a casual boot, but you could dress them up for a social occasion; however, I would not recommend them for business casual. In terms of size, I typically wear a 12.5, but since they recommend going down a size on Frye boots, I ordered a 12 (and they don't make half sizes beyond 12 in this style anyway). The fit is perfect. I can wear them with dress socks or regular white socks, although they might be a little snug with heavy wool socks. A word of caution...when I first got them they were VERY difficult to get on (I actually broke into a sweat, similar to trying to park a classic pick up with manual steering in a tight space in the parking lot). I guess that is why they don't make as many pull on styles as they do zip up. I considered having them professionally stretched by a shoe cobbler, but was worried that the boot wouldn't hug my foot as nicely. I found that a long 24" shoe horn did the trick, still snug but much easier than trying to work my foot back and forth. Overall, an excellent boot, I highly recommend a pair.

This company Zappos has to be hands down the best company I have ever ordered anything with ever! As far as my preference, Rogan is by far a superb boot! I've tried everything Frye has to offer and as far as need the Rogan and Phillip Zip are the best out there!

These boots were good for the first year. The second year I owned them the right boot's sole fell apart on me making it very uncomfortable to wear. Since it was only one boot and not the other I am not sure it was something I stepped in. Even with that I still love these boots. I took it to a local place and got it resoled and I have not had an issue since.

These are unique, superbly constructed boots. The leather gets softer and softer the more you wear them. The color is great, too.

Just want anyone to know who purchases this boot that they are very snug when first worn. I recommend you wear the boot inside and walk for a couple of hours, give your feet a break and repeat for the first 2 days. The leather is extremely flexible as far as boots go. Within a month you will be buckling the boot tighter to snug them up. this is the case for most Frye boots but these are especially soft. As far as arch support the boot fall a little flat for my liking but they look very good.

I was introduced to Frye boots about 10 months ago. I was impressed enough with the comfort and fit of my first pair that I decided to buy a pair of the Rogan engineers. When they arrived I had been prepared by the reviews that the boot was a very tight fit when first putting them on. This is no joke! They are VERY difficult to put on for the first month. That being said, these boots are insanely comfortable. They can be worn all day long, and even days where you will be doing a lot of walking. I love the style, I love the comfort. In fact, I like them so much that I decided to buy second pair and brown. I have never done this with another pair of shoes or boots. In short, I really like these boots and highly recommend them.

I was looking for a pair of boots to wear with jeans. I came across the Rogan Engineer and was interested, but hesitant due to the price. My wife bought them for me for our anniversary - what a great gift! The quality was evident before I even got them out of the box. I consistently wear a 10.5, but these were just a bit big. My heel slipped with "regular" socks. I put a pair of boot socks on, and they're perfect! I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great looking, high quality pair of boots.
