Good God, I love this boot! I hemmed and hawed about spending this kind of money on footwear, but I already owned a pair of Frye shoes (the Dakota Plain Toe), and was convinced of their quality, comfort, and style. I took the advice of many other reviewers here (and reviewers of the Dakota too, for that matter) and ordered a full size smaller than my sneaker size. I am a size 12 in sneakers, but I ordered this boot in size 11. Lightning fast delivery by Zappos, and I went to put them on right away. It was a REAL struggle to get them on, but that was because of the newness. After a few minutes of fighting, I got in them. They fit like a glove, and are soft and comfortable right away. I don't think you'll find there to be any real break-in period. Just stick with it when you're trying to get your foot into them the first few times. You might want to un-do the buckles too, so that you don't put strain on them while wrestling your foot past the heel. I am so comfortable in these boots. The lower heel and lug sole give me the best of both worlds: the comfort of a roper cowboy boot, with the all-day, all-terrain grip of a hiking shoe. Not only that, but they look absolutely badass! You're going to love them, never want to take them off, and buy another pair in a different color. Trust me.

I have been searching for the perfect boot for a very long time...I just received the Rogan Engineer boots and they are the best looking boots I ever bought! Great quality and Comfortable too! color is a little darker than the picture though. Frye boots just got a customer for life. Thanks Zappos for fast delivery and great service! I will be ordering my next pair of boots from Zappos again!

I fit in size 10 for Frye Boots (but wear a 10.5 typically), at least that's what I've found from four other pairs of Fryes. These run a bit small and are difficult to take on and off. The materials are supple, and the style is great. These will be going back, and will likely be exchanged for a half size larger.

I bought these boots for my husband. They seemed to run about a 1/2 size big for his foot. The comfort is great for walking a lot. He rides a motorcycle so they are great motorcycle boots as well. Look nice with any outfit. He is picky and he loves these! Good tread on the bottom, they aren't slick like the cowboy boots.

Great quality, great looking boot. Can be difficult to get your foot into, but don't give up! Try putting a plastic bag over your foot first if your having difficulty. It works!

We have all heard, "you get what you pay for", well it's true with Frye's line of boots. American made and the best quality you can find. If you have sizing questions contact Zappos or Frye directly and they will steer you through and ensure you get the right fit. Will definitely order from them again.

I got these for a birthday gift which I had looked at for quite some time and the styling and quality of a Frye is unparalleled; so, yes, this is an awesome boot. The fit is tight as expected at first but by wearing they become more and more comfy. This particular Rogan with the distressed look with buckles are the most stylish modern boots to wear casually or when I ride my motorcycles. They give you the flexibility to be trendy and edgy but will last as long as I want to wear them. So, yes, I highly recommend these and any Frye products.

Beware - the boots are not at all like the picture. Yes, distressed leather and a great color but very dull with no shine as shown in the picture. Aside from this, a great boot if a bit overpriced. Many Frye products seem to have increased substantially in price with no change in quality.

These things are hard to get on! Once on they felt fine but as I was getting them pulled on, I could see seams stretching and I knew that that would not be a good situation over the long term. They were comfortable enough, but that was too much struggle. I had ordered the suede inside zip but got it a size too big and to replace went this direction, tried them on side by side as I still had them here, identical boot, just short part up leg and way easier to get on. I am going to reorder the suede in a smaller size.

I read the reviews and decided to go a half size smaller than my normal shoe size (went with a 9 vs 9.5). That worked out perfectly for me. Overall I am very pleased with the boot and its comfort. Fit and quality are just what I had hoped. No complaints with boot or Zappos.

Nice boot, stylish and good looking. Observations. 1) I ordered Cognac color the lightest color in the spectrum and though the box confirms Cognac, they look like they're plain old brown. Not gonna return them though. 2) true size and width has to be understood in comparison to lace up shoes. These are just gonna be looser but that's ok too. 3) not enough arch support or padding for my taste. These are hard on the sole and stiff and will take some wearing in. A pair of drug store inserts makes them very comfortable, and there's enough room to accommodate them. 4) wearing is different from shoes too. This is my first pair of non-lace up boots and the slightly looser fit needed to slide in and out of them causes me to walk a little different, a bit back on the heel, almost like skiing a black diamond slope. Overall they're keepers and some of my issues are just an artifact of online buying.

Great looking biker boot. Rugged good looks. Great job with the distressed look. They really appear old and well worn. I like this given I wear mostly while riding my Harley. And they are very comfortable. These are the third pair of Frye boots I have bought in the last year and I ordered a half size smaller than what I normally wear, which fit perfectly. Good job Frye!

The color of the boot that was delivered didn't look anything like the picture on the website. Not even close. I'm disappointed and won't take another chance. I'm moving on. The quality of the boot seemed good.

For the most part I love these boots, they look cool as hell. Here is what I have trouble with. I paid A LOT of money for them... I was under the assumption that they were "Made In America" as Frye boasts. These shoes are made in Mexico, that sucks. I wrote to Frye and asked how one would know if their shoes were from America and never got a reply from the customer service. NOW, it seems the heel is pulling away from the soul. so you judge for yourself, I was investing in a "good" pair of boots that would last a life time. We will see I guess. But kinda bummed out by the experience.

I wear size 13 and ordered a size 13. Reviews say they run larger than advertised, and that may be true for length, but not width or instep size. This boot was impossible for me to get on my feet. I tried everything I could, including a shoe horn, to no avail. Even had I been able to eventually get these on, I wouldn't want to spend 30 minutes in the morning just getting on my boots. Bottom line, if you have narrow, short feet, then these may work for you. Styling-wise, I love them. I just wish people who made good looking boots knew how to size them to fit larger feet. I guess I'll go back to Frankenstein style shoes.

The boot looks great however they were difficult to get on. My right foot went on with ease but the left was really tight and nearly impossible to slip on. Once I was able to get both of the boots on they felt true to size. I really liked the style but I had to return them.

I bought these for my future son-in-law for Christmas after he fell in love with another pair of Frye boots. He literally could not get his foot in this boot. Several other reviews have the same complaint. We replaced them with the generic Frye 12" engineer which looks very similar and he loves that pair.

SAVE YOUR PROOF OF PURCHASE. The lining in my first pair ripped out within 5 wears. I exchanged them to Frye for a new pair. THAT new replacement pair had the sole split across the balls of both feet - down to the leather - within 8 wears. The only warranty options you have is repair reimbursement or replacement. No money back. This would normally be fine, but I've been burned by quality issues with this shoe 2 times now. I guess I'll have to get my local cobbler to replace the sole and send the bill to Frye now. For the cost, I don't think I'm asking for much to demand a higher standard of workmanship than I can get at the Army/Navy store.
