NO ARCH SUPPORT. I inserted my own arches in these shoes as I require arch support. That said - when I first started a long walk on these (with my own arches inserted), my legs and feet got incredibly tired. This was on a long hike between various stores in Manhattan. However, at the end of my trek, my feet were much less tired and sore as they would have been with any of my other shoes. I believe the stress to the body of walking on hard pavement is spread among many muscles of the body which relieves the constant shock. I do think that these shoes are probably beneficial when used often on long walks. I bought a second pair of a different style. This particular style I had to get 1/2 size larger.

I love them. I don't think I really felt a difference the first couple of times, but after a week I started feeling the difference.

I am a physician that spends ten hours plus on my feet daily. These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I wear. At the end of the day, I do not have back pain or foot cramps. I recommend these shoes to colleagues and patients alike and will probably be buying another pair soon.

Feel great - They aren't the cutest pair of shoes I've ever owned, but they certainly are among the most comfortable. I ordered the Sleek Fit and the Metabolize styles and ended up keeping the Sleek Fit since the fit was better. I've walked a couple of times (about 45 min each) and have felt it working mainly in my calves and feet.

Very comfortable and I noticed a difference in my leg shape after a few weeks. These run a little shorter than most sneakers and will not stretch well - even with shoe stretch inserts.

I've been on a quest to find comfortable shoes for many years now, moving from Danskos to Keens, but recently, I got a pair of MBTs from a co-worker (the shoes didn't quite fit), and my eyes were opened to "rocker-bottom" shoes. The original brand is MBT, but their high price tag is hard for a lot of folks to swallow. To the rescue comes Skechers Shape-Ups, which also feature rocker bottoms, but also sport a much more affordable price tag (usually half the price of MBTs). The Sleek Fit model is very similar to the MBT Lami; athletic Mary Janes. The fit is actually quite similar, although the Skechers are more true to size (MBTs tend to be smaller). The Sleek Fit is a pretty good rocker-bottom shoe, and you can definitely feel the rocker bottoms when you walk. The shoes are stylish enough that you can wear them with shorts or jeans, as well. The reason I'm not rating these higher? I wore one MBT shoe and compared it to the Sleek Fit on the other foot, and there's no comparison; The Skecher Shape Ups feel mushy. I really wanted strong support and the feel of the rocker bottom, but with the Shape Ups you don't get the clean rocking motion. Don't get me wrong; Shape-Ups are definitely nice shoes, and you will get a workout in them. They are not MBTs. However, if you wince at the thought of spending $250 for a pair of MBTs, then the affordable price tags of Shape Ups will be far more attractive for you. Note: New Balance apparently is also releasing rocker bottom shoes. Haven't tried those yet.

I bought this shoe not for a workout, but because I like chunkier shoes and wanted a chunkier sneaker. First off, my right foot pronates, but I never noticed it until I bought these shoes. They have no arch support for flat feet. I notice it every time I wear them. Second, I do not believe that a shoe can give you a workout worth anything. Thirdly, they are cute and every time I wear them I get compliments. So basically I find these shoes all talk and no go, but it is a cute no go.

Lovely shoe, but the size 10 felt like a 9. I haven't had a chance to wear them yet, as I'm returning the 10s. Unfortunately, they're not available in 11, so I'll have to get a different model.

These shoes are comfortable, but aren't as great of a workout as I had expected. I do wear them to do housework and to walk the dogs around the neighborhood, but haven't found an opportunity to wear them out to any other location because of their clunky, awkward look. I expected that, though. Maybe I need to give them more time before I make a final judgment! I definitely wouldn't replace any component of my workout with these shoes, though.

I really wanted to be able to keep this shoe but I am a size 11 and it was very tight by my toes. For the price, this is an investment so the fit has to be comfortable. I wish they made an 11 1/2, I would exchange it in a heartbeat. I wore them around the house and I can understand how you walk so differently. Maybe a different shape up style might give me a bit more room. I am giving it only 3 stars because it didn't fit and I normally don't have any problems wearing other size 11s.

Excellent bounce and cushion. Good arch support. Attractive styling. But definitely NOT for those with Achilles tendonitis. My Achilles and my lower back both started hurting within minutes of putting these shoes on. The low heel of the Skechers Shape-Ups style just won't work for that foot condition.

These are very comfortable shoes. The only down side that I can see is that if, like me, you need a high arch, after a while, these shoes begin to be a bit uncomfortable. I often wear Mephisto and Birkenstock shoes because of the comfortable arch support. And these shoes, though comfortable for short periods of time, don’t give the same type of arch support.

Zappos rocks! Love the service and the products. Bought these shoes for work. I work in a hospital and am on my feet a lot. They are really cushy, but it feels to me like they are causing my feet to pronate. Perhaps it is just me, maybe they are actually aligning my feet to a more proper position, so I am still getting used to them. Two other people I work with also bought Shape Ups and they love them.

I ordered the Sleek Fit style after owning the Skechers Shape Ups Metabolize. The Shape Ups are a very fun shoe to wear and great if you are on your feet a lot. I have a 9 1/2 size foot, slightly wide, and usually Skechers work well for me. This mary jane style of the Sleek Fit didn’t form nicely to my foot. The velcro strap was not the answer, as I attempted to tighten the strap, the result was a feeling of the mary jane edge digging into the top of my foot, but there still was no stability of my foot when I took a step. The Metabolize Shape Ups are good as they lace and form nicely to the foot and I wear them for long days at work. I will probably stick with a lace up style in this particular type of shoe for better support on the top of the foot, because of the movement that the sole requires of the foot. Overall the Shape Ups are a great concept in a shoe, and I will consider purchasing the lace up styles in the future.

I really liked the way this shoe looked. I ordered up a half size, but my toe still hit the end of the shoe, it could be that the toe is just too shallow for me. They hurt, but I ordered a pair of Sketchers Action Packed and wear them to work on a 10 hour shift on my feet the whole time and they offer great arch support.

Disappointing. I am an MBT user and was really hoping that the Skechers Shape Ups would work because I like the appearance and price of the Skechers. I am a dancer and doc so I am very aware of how shoes are made and whether they can help or cause health problems. However, while they may look similar on the outside (i.e. chunky sole), this Skechers model is functionally very different that MBTs: when I wear the Skechers, the way the soft sole is constructed just makes my feet/ankle role inward (very bad if you have normal or flat feet). Also the Skechers bottom isn't as squishy/angled as MBT's so it doesn't have the MBT wobbly effect that forces my thighs/butt to tense up to "work out" while standing or walking. In summary, the Skechers Shape Ups feels just like a regular sneaker with an extra-large cushioned sole, and doesn't have the right amount/location of instability to match the effects of MBT. If you have very forgiving feet and just want a cute walking shoe, this might be right for you. But it definitely isn't going to give you the type of "workout" that MBT's do, and it can cause injuries in anyone with feet or knee problems. (BTW: If you've never used MBT before, imagine yourself trying to balance on one leg while standing on a soft couch or mattress -- all sorts of muscles have to spring into action. A major difference with MBT's is despite the intentional instability effect that it is trying to create, my flat feet feel very well supported and doesn’t cause my arches/ankles from sinking like with the Skechers. Most MBT's in shoe stores are ugly, but Zappos sells tons of good looking styles including one that looks very similar to this one called "Lami."

I was so looking forward to this shoe! However it was extremely narrow for my foot. I have a special needs foot and this seemed narrow and small in the toe box. I Had to return it and was very disappointed.

These shoes run a 1/2 size too small. They feel very comfortable while wearing them, but the next day my knees are in excruciating pain and find it very difficult to go up and down stairs for three to four days after wearing them.

The sneakers are very cute. Unfortunately, they cut up my feet on my very first four mile walk. I had to walk home barefoot, and proceeded to get blisters on the bottoms of my feet. My feet were a mess for about two weeks. If you are not a real walker they may be perfect. But for me, they were not.
