Surprised that many say this runs large; quite the opposite in my case, it runs extraordinarily small. I wear a 7 normally, maybe in sandals a 6.5. I ordered a 7 in this and I had to fully unlace it to even get my foot into it; not even close to walkable. Have ordered up a half size, hopefully that will be enough. Looks cute, and felt quite cushy in the insole, so hopefully it will be a keeper once I order up. I had to get a different color though because the sizes seem to sell out fast.

The shoe is beautiful, nice leather, just what I'd been looking for. However, the back of the heel slips right off. It felt like it was the cut of the shoe, not just that it's longer than other size 8 1/2 shoes I have! :) I would try a half size smaller, but I think the heel would still slip off.

I love the look of these shoes, and they're reasonably comfy for their price. The big problem is that I've worn them for less than a year and already they've started to fall apart. The soles must be made flimsy because they began to split in the foot bed months ago, leaving me with shoes I cannot have repaired. The rest of the soles are in decent shape; it's the foot bed cracks I realized too late. I'm still wearing these shoes, but I assume that once summer is over I should replace them with a pair that will last longer than a year.
Also, these weren't shoes I wore every day, all day. I wore them on average 4 to 5 days a week, so their falling apart really has no excuse.

The shoes came in really fast! I am happy with the shoes; however, the soles were a little chunkier than I had anticipated, but overall I am happy with the shoes.

These shoes were awesome the short time I would wear them. Their comfort and style were impeccable. The problem was that, after walking in them for several months, their sole cracked. Now, when I step in even the slightest bit of water, the inside of the shoe becomes wet. Such a disappointment.

Nice sturdy shoe. A bit snug in the toe box, but slip at the heel, and I usually don't have such issues. I did keep them as they seemed to stretch with wear.

I loved these in the early '80s and late '70s. I remember mine as lasting forever, the sole never split but they wore thin. I wore them all the time. I was immediately disappointed when I opened the box. The saddle does not feel or look like leather. Like plastic, sending them back because of sole problems and the plastic saddle. So sad.

I've purchased Bass shoes in the past, but these were a huge disappointment. The material is very poor quality, and the edges cut into the ankles. My toes were crying for mercy, and I had them on only a few minutes. There is no "give" to the shoe. This is the third brand of saddle shoes I've tried. I think I'll give up now.

Shoes were very narrow at the toe, wide at the heel and the leather was quite stiff. Had to return them.

It was with great anticipation that I ordered these shoes. Loved them right out of the box. They fit well (no arch support, though). They did seem cheaper than the Bass shoes I wore in the 1970s and 1980s, but the price reflected that. Less than four months in, both soles split, right at the ball of the foot. Extremely disappointing. I purchased another pair of Bass shoes (loafers) at the same time as these. The loafers are still OK, but they do not fit as well as they should and, again, just do not have the same quality. Zappos, however, is terrific. I called about the shoes, they took them back without any issue, and I exchanged them for a pair of Clarks. Just have to remind myself to stick with Clarks. About three days after I called Zappos about the return, I received a hand-written thank-you note from the person I talked to. Very nice.

I've always wanted a pair of saddle shoes, but a more up to date version than the clunky '50s-'60s version. I love the styling; a modern take on an old classic. I have had BASS shoes before and have always been pretty happy with them because they are one of the few shoe companies that can fit a narrow, flat foot like mine and these fit like a glove.
They seem to be well made ... to a point. After about 1.5-2 years one shoe started to darken. Yep, it darkened noticeably to the point where the two shoes look ridiculous being worn together. A couple of months ago I found out the likely reason for the discoloration. The last time I tried to wear them together some water splashed on the shoes; on one the water beaded and rolled off but on the one that had darkened the water was absorbed. It appears that in the making of the shoes one was not treated with waterproofing which I suspect also protects the color from aging. Needless to say I was pretty ticked off, but it was after the 365 day guarantee so I was hosed. It makes me wonder if the reason why Zappos and other shoe outlets can charge a discount price is because the products they sell have some sort of flaw and the shoe makers unload their "seconds" to cheap to the outlet sites. These were the first pair of shoes I bought from Zappos. This was a very bad first impression.

I recently bought the studded black version of these shoes, and they're incredibly cute! the perfect mix of tough edginess and prepster chic. I ordered a size 9 even though I can sometimes go up to a 9.5 and they were a perfect fit. Zappos delivered in less than 24 hours, fantastic as usual, but when I pulled them out of the box, the soles were not hard plastic or leather like the saddle shoes of my childhood, but compressed foam. This turned out to be the least of my worries as less than 12 hours out of the box (having only been exposed to 6 minute walk to my school and then a few trips from my desk to the water fountain), the insole of the left foot became detached and slid down the interior of the shoe, making them very painful to wear. Even at the sale price, this poorly made Bass shoe was a complete waste of time and money.

These are so much pointier in person than they are in the picture! Also, way too big. Unfortunately have to send them back.

I loved this shoe. Comfortable and lots of compliments! A big but...the soles cracked after only a handful of wearings. I did have better soles put on them, since I really do love the shoe, but Bass should be ashamed of the poor quality!

This shoe has many pros, which all ended in cons. I live in NYC, am on my feet a bit, and have trouble finding shoes that are comfortable without requiring some breaking in. These were comfy right out of the box! I wore them 3 out of 7 days for 3 weeks and fell in love. Now for the big CON- to my dismay, my socks were wet on on drizzly day and I inspected the shoe--the pink rubber on the bottom split right across the shoe after 3 weeks of wear! Bass was very kind about replacing them, 3 times total, and all pairs split in exactly the same way. I eventually traded them in for a style that doesn't use this crummy pink rubber on the sole, but I'm very sad to have to have given up my cute saddle shoes...

This style is cute, comes in many colors, and was easy on my bunions. The quality of the uppers is so-so: not all styles have eyelets, the leather is perhaps a bit too soft, and the coating on the piping around the ankle started coming off after a few weeks (there is fabric underneath, though).
The insoles were fabric and/or synthetic leather, depending on the color combination, so I bought some cheap leather inserts and found they kept the shoes from getting too sweaty.
The main reason I'm giving the Enfield an overall rating of 1, however, is the soles. I bought three pair within weeks of each other, and a year later the soles on two of these pair cracked straight through (on both shoes in each pair) within days of each other.
If the uppers were of a higher quality I'd get them resoled, but it doesn't seem worth the cost of the new soles. At the same time, I feel disappointed because they weren't budget shoes, either. For that reason, I'd recommend staying away from this style and other Bass shoes with the same red rubber sole.

I bought a pair of these 20 years ago that were amazing...so comfy and they wore forever. Not so this time. I bought a pair for myself (sedentary middle-ager) and one for my daughter (very active college girl). We both experienced the same thing: after a dozen wearings, the soles split completely in half! They are now unwearable. Do not buy these shoes.

After 3 wears in this shoe the soles cracked in half along the seams under the foot. I am surprised this happened! I thought Bass was a shoe company that prided itself on quality. Guess not.

I love these shoes and bought two pairs. Unfortunately, like others have described, the soles cracked on both pairs and water leaks in immediately and soaks my feet. Very disappointing.

I have bought two pair of these shoes, because they are so comfortable and cute, and both pair have completely split across the entire sole down to the inside!! I don't know if it is old rubber on the shoes, or that they are cheaply made, but I have never had this happen with a pair of shoes before. I am very careful with shoes and now I can't even wear these outside if it is at all wet, because my feet will get soaked! Do not buy!

This is a great looking and very comfortable shoe. The sole design separates with wear. No problem until it rained and then I may as well have been barefoot as water seeped right through the leather and the sole.

Only wore these a few times before the sole of the shoe split. Shoe wasn't as comfortable as I've had before with this brand. Waste of money.
