I recently purchased my 3rd and final pair of Allen Edmonds shoes. There is no comparison to the first ones I bought 30 years ago. The quality of the shoe has slipped considerably. The leather is not supple but hard as cardboard.

This is my first pair of Alden Edmonds. I tried in store and ordered online. I was impressed with those shoes' quality and construction in store but I ended up ordering online because there wasn't my sizes. When I finally received and opened the box. I was very disappointed for the product I received. They aren't as nice as the ones I saw in store. But what's more frustrating is they even have different shapes.

Your walnut color comes in burnished or not burnished - very different tones. A given shoe only comes one or the other but your website doesn't say which. Leads to a costly, unnecessary return for you and disappointment, time delay, and high nuisance for me.

The color was far off from what catalog showed. I returned the shoes.

After 18 months, the sole already has a hole. This is 18 months of covid, so me wearing the shoes once per week, walking around my house. Exceptionally disappointed.

Title says it all. I've never had a pair of shoes literally fall apart in such a short period of time. Absolute garbage quality control.

It was a nice shoe, but this shoe runs really narrow and uncomfortable. My husband needs an E in these shoes and his foot is not that wide. Overall shoe size is true to size, but simply too narrow.

Usually quite pleased with AE. This time not so much. Color was too dark and pretty much the same as Bob's Chili. Certainly not close to the walnut belt I purchased. Plus the dye job was splotchy and poorly done. Sent both back and looking for the refund on the next credit card statement.

Before I discuss quality, let me state that these shoes are very comfortable after breaking-in.
However, I have owned two pairs within the past year and each pair has developed the same problem, a quarter size hole at the mid-foot (e.g., down to the cork). I would understand if I wore the shoes everyday and walked long distances, but I walk 30 yards from my car to the garage elevator on concrete. Then I exit the elevator and work 25 yards to the office elevator on tile. The remaining time I walk on a carpeted surface. I will walk to lunch every other day (on average), less than .25 miles roundtrip. So, in my opinion, I do not walk enough to warrant wearing through the soles of two shoes in 4-5 months.
The retailer replaced the first pair after Allen Edmonds told me they could only re-sole the shoe at the regular cost. I am planning to take the current pair back, but I refuse to continue replacing my shoes every 6 months, especially at the price point of these shoes.
I would recommend to a friend if the quality would match the cost (i.e., last longer than 4-5 months).

The first pair I bought did not fit so I returned them. They were too tight so the solution was to get me into a pair that I'm swimming in. These shoes are WAY too expensive to not fit properly. I'm just not impressed and will not be purchasing anything more.

I first purchased a pair of black which had to be returned because after the first wearing I discovered a defect on the shoe. I asked the shoe guy at the airport if he could fix the it but he couldnt. The second time I was gven a brown shoe because that was the only one in my size in the store. This shoe had a clear defect on it as well so the store person offered a discount on it or wait for a good one in the mail. I gave it a try becaue this defect wasnt a deal breaker. This is by far the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever owned. I will try another style only because the customer service was so amazing. The store had a bunch of cool shoes so I hope I have better luck on a different last. The fella who had helped me spent 15 minutes just measuring and trying different sizes. He was awesome. I also bought a few inserts at the store that I will try that might help the pain.

I specifically opted for the 5737 dark chili as opposed to the 5710 because the 5737 was NOT burnished (the 5710s are specifically identified as "dark chili burnished"). You will not find the word burnished anywhere in the description of the dark chili 5737 on AE's website. I was disappointed to receive my 5737s that were indeed burnished.

Although I am a big fan of Allen Edmonds, the lack of Quality Assurance on their shoes have changed my perception on the brand.
I purchased a pair of Fifth Avenue Oxfords back in October 2015 and have not been able to wear them in day light as the left and right shoes are of different shade. The worse part of it is that the front part of the right shoe has these multiple vertical creases going down which I tried to capture on the phone camera without much success.

I was very disappointed with a walnut color version of these shoes: within a month, despite use of shoe trees, they bowed out at the ankles and developed creases. The creases are getting worst and seem to presage cracking. I have not had the same experience with other AE products, but I am now loath to buy the chili version of this shoe for fear of a similarly bad experience. Poor quality leather or bad craftsmanship? I cant tell which but I am not happy.

I tried Allen-Edmonds for the second time and will not again. Zappos is great! I will continue to use them but have given up on Allen-Edmonds. These are so uncomfortable. They will now sit on my shoe rack and collect dust.

I loved the styling and tried on both an 11 and 11.5 in the store. I have an 11 in the LaSalle and assumed I would be about the same. The 11.5 in the Fifth Ave. we a little too big, so I went with the 11. The shoe does not seem to be breaking in properly, and I have been using the shoe tree every time I take them off. They are not breaking in as well as the LaSalle's, and the gap in the laces seems to be worsening. However, I do not want to tie them any tighter because they are hurting the top of my foot. I tried to exchange them but the gentleman in the store explained that because I wore them the shoes are not exchangeable. I do wear them occasionally, but my go to shoe is definitely my LaSalles. I would recommend those shoes over the Fifth Ave.

This was my first pair of AE shoes. Family & friends in finance claimed AE are the best shoes one can buy. I'm in education and need sharp shoes for lectures and presentations, and went to the store to be fitted. The young man there convinced me to purchase a size that was too small, promising that shoes of this quality would stretch & mold to my feet. A year later, I continue to get blisters after an hour or so and no "softening" has yet occurred. I find the leather stiff and unforgiving, but that may be a result of having been fitted inappropriately. They are a wonderfully sharp looking shoe; I just wish they felt as good as they look.

Sadly, my favorite shoe brand has quality problems. I ordered a pair of 5th Ave and while I was pleased with the fit/finish, I had to return the shoes TWICE due to poor build quality - the eyelets were pulling out of the leather on both pairs!
Cannot recommend until quality control improves

Am totally baffled as to why this is the worst fitting shoe I've ever owned. Have owned 5 pairs od AE shoes to include 2 pair of Park Avenue's, which should be similar in fit to the 5th avenue. In any event they are painful and extremely uncomfortable. Thinking I just had to"break them in" I wore them several times. The fit is brutal and they're painful to wear. Despite my love for the two Park Avenues and others that I own, I'm afraid I'm going to have to part ways w/ Allen Edmond. They've done nothing "to make it right". Poor, poor customer service - an eye-opener for one who thought they'd take better care of a loyal customer!!

tried to wear them regularly but to no avail. Will get Wright arch preservers next unless you can produce a similar/better shoe.
