I gave the overall rating of 5 stars because this cut is the best (my humble opinion). I've been wearing Levis since the '70s and the material of the jeans are much different today . I've learned in part because of Zappos generosity in their exchange policy. Here's the secret the 501s are almost always the heavier jean that a lot of us are used to. You see, the higher the elastin the more give the jeans with give you, the black and indigo blue are exceptionally comfortable (black label). The indigo wash, however, is a heavier jean so therefore I purchased a size bigger and a size smaller (for the times around the holidays I need a little give!). My biggest fear around the holidays is imagining the button busting loose and injuring someone or something! Finally, I've read a lot of complaints about the jean material being too thin or not the quality they were expecting...I love it! I certainly don't want to wear heavy 501s in the summer! So do yourself a favor and read the description that is on every Levis item on Zappos. Remember...no other company has the quality of CSR (customer service reps) that Zappos has!
