I tried on the smooth leather version in a local store and didn\'t like the stiffness and the bagginess around the ankle. I saw the suede version at Zappos and decided to try it. I think the suede version is not nearly as stiff. The bagginess is still there, but I think I can deal with that. The smooth leather patch on the side gives this boot a bit of style, but just barely. These are very comfortable boots that I can wear all day - that\'s the main reason I wanted them and I am completely happy with that.

I really liked the look of these boots. But like many of the reviews said, it is stiff in the ankle and created for me an awkward walk. The round toe was fine and gave me the toe space I needed since I don\'t like my toes squshed. If the ankle had softer leather material, I would have kept the boots.

These boots looked perfect online, but in person they look pretty chunky. I'm looking for a comfortable black boot to wear with skirts and dresses, so I want it fairly snug on my leg. The shaft fit nicely on my somewhat muscular calf, but it was way too loose in the ankle area, and stiff too. The toe is rounder and bigger in person, making it look too chunky. This boot feels way better than the Born and Clarks boots I tried on, and the calf is more snug, but they are not quite as sophisticated as I was looking for. Too bad, because I loved the arch support in this boot. I usually wear an 8.5 and I ordered the 39 wide and it was perfect. For those who wear orthotics, I don't think they will fit in this boot, even if you get the wide.

I really wanted to like these boots. I got the suede and they are beautiful and wonderfully constructed. The heel height was perfectly comfortable and quiet, and the boot/shaft height/circumference was great. So why did I not like them? The leather is really stiff. Unlike most boots that are lined with a soft cloth of some sort, these are lined with a leather. Which makes them stiff and hard. I wonder if they would soften up enough over time to be comfy? But alas, I walked around my house, sat down at my computer for 1/2 hour and within that time, my foot felt like it was asleep because my feet felt unforgiving and stiff. With bunion-ridden feet, that just won't work.

Do not fit true to size - Beautiful looking but had to send them back because they run very small. If you have smaller feet I'm sure these would work for you - would not advise for size 11 or 12. But of course Zappos totally fantastic with the returns!

I am a Dansko devotee and I really wanted to like this boot but had to return them. The foot bed felt great, however, from the ankle up there is just too much stiff leather (in them I walked like Frankenstein!). I wore them around the house for a few days to see if they would break in but I ended up with bad knee pains (I assume from not being able to bend my ankles properly). Too bad! It is a cool looking boot!
