I really like these boots. I normally wear a 7 or 7 1/2 and I ordered the bigger size after reading the reviews, but I think they are pretty true to size. Other people said they had a hard time getting them on, and I didn't at all. They are good looking boots and comfortable right out of the box. My only complaint is that they are made in Mexico. One of the selling points of Frye boots for me was the fact that they were made in America. I contacted the company, and they said they do still make some of the styles in America, but not this one.

I love these boots. They are breaking in nicely. I highly recommend getting them metal tipped. The color is pretty fantastic. The true test will be in the spring time when I'll be riding around on my bike with these guys on. Can hardly wait.

I got these in taupe leather yesterday and I love them. The color is not as yellow as the picture and the height is perfect with my jeans. I, like another reviewer, do not like how much they are pre-scuffed. Kind of a cruel thing to do to such soft leather. As much as I'll wear them, I would've had them scuffed on my own in no time. Truly the only real complaint I have is that although they fit perfectly, I had a huff and puff tug-of-war to get them on! I thought I was going to pull the loops off before my heel finally slid in! That was really frustrating. The only solution I suppose is to never take them off again! Good thing that I love them, right?

Rugged and cool looking. I chose the distressed leather in charcoal. They look like they've been worn in. Great if you like that look...like a real cowboy (for me cowgirl). Frye is a great brand and I always get compliments on all their boots (I own several styles). They are classics and stylish, will last forever.

Perfect boot for what I wanted - casual, over jeans. Initially ordered the size 9 in grey but it was too small. Ordered the charcoal in 9.5 (they were out of grey) and it was just fine - can wear with blacks, browns, and of course, jeans. I've got a lot of room in them so can wear socks. The leather looks almost like suede - has a vintage or distressed texture to it (as if you can scratch it with something and it would leave a mark). If you like that look, go for it. I'm rating lower for comfort since I do feel that thicker socks are needed to help with that tag on the inside of the boot - it would rub if I had a very thin or no sock on. Also, there is room in here for my orthotic.

I usually wear an 8.5 in boots. The 8.5 was just a little tight in the width although it would’ve probably stretched out fine, but it was also just a little too short in length so I would agree with those that say it runs a little small. The 8.5 I got from Nordstrom but they sold out so I ordered a 9 from Zappos. The seams were a little sloppy and frayed on one boot and I could’ve gotten over that, but the other boot had a completely misaligned chunk and glue sticking out. They seem authentic based on just having the other pair from a department store but I wouldn’t recommend ordering from here. The 9 is also too big for me to wear with my foot floating around in the boot. Unfortunately these don’t seem to be for me, but I had a pair of Carson shorties years ago and really wanted something similar.

My toes are pinched; I need to stay away from pointed toes.

The boots have a great rustic & distress look that I love. They looked a little big on my feet and legs. One thing I didn't like I didn't expect the bottoms to be worn and used.

I have some Frye boots that fit perfectly in the 7 1/2. I was very surprised they did not accommodate for the Billy being a more pointed toe. Otherwise it fits but scared an 8 would be too big in other areas. Returning this boot.

I enjoy ordering from Zappos, they have a great selection of women's shoes along with quick shipping! Usually I wear a 9 in Frye boots (I'm a Frye Fan and have 2 other pairs) so I ordered a 9 in the Billy Short. I think this style run 1/2 size small so I am returning them for a 9 1/2. Great boot just 1/2 too small. I received my boots promptly however, they looked worn on the sole and were not packed like my other Frye boots. No paper in the box to protect the boot, no paper stuffed inside the boot, no Frye booklet/literature enclosed in the box etc. Surprised that Zappos sent these out.

Really cute looking boot, but I couldn't even get my foot in them unless I wanted to break my ankle. Are all Frye boots this narrow in the ankle opening? Returned them....

Super cute but these boots have a major design flaw. The neck is so narrow that one cannot get their foot into the boot! I had to return them for a larger size up then I had to take them to my shoe guy to get the neck stretched. Now they're great but it was more work than I bargained for!

I ordered this boot because it is super cute. Loved the color and softness of the leather. Unfortunately, the fit was off- too loose in heel, too tight in foot and really hard to get on and off. Everyone's reviews were right on, I just should have listened to them. If you have a half-size foot, this boot may work for you. Am very sad because they are so cute but couldn't justify the bad fit, especially for the price.

These are very cute, though tight across the toe box. My big issue is that this is the second pair of Fryes I've ordered that arrived extremely scuffed and heel worn - not what I expect from Zappos.

I have another pair of Frye Billy Short that I wear every single day. They are very comfortable after breaking them in. This particular pair was (and still is) snug. It's difficult to put them on but over time it is getting easier. I still need help getting them off.

It was virtually impossible for me to fit my foot into this boot. I have a high instep and I could not get my foot in easily without pointing my toes and foot freakishly down into the boot, and squishing my heal down. Once in the fit was fine. Of course, I need help to get them off, and that was a penance as well. It's really too bad that so much work has to go into wearing these boots because they look great. They are going back!

These are really nice boots, however, they do run short and wide for Frye. I guess they are about one size short in length. It's the pointed toe; if you have long toes this is not the boot for you.

Compared to Lucchese, I don't care for these. Loose, not fitted like a real cowboy boot. Truly cowboy not riding boot. I think I knew that but loved the color. Thanks Zappos for letting me try.

Weird design/cut. I own a few styles of Frye boots, in size 9M--Campus, Carson, Engineer, Veronica--and they fit like a dream. I ordered these in 9.5M, based on other reviews advising to size up. I seriously cannot get my foot into these boots, and the opening is even wider than I prefer. This may be because I have a rather high arch, however, so if you have little to no arch, your foot might slip into them easily. The other aspect I didn't like is that the leather is unbelievably stiff. I ordered the Old Town Brown, however, and sometimes Frye boots differ in leather quality according to color and finish. The black, for example, looks like it might be a softer leather. In my opinion, for this price, the leather in any color/finish should be supple. This boot would be a winner, for me, if it were redesigned with an inside zipper and the opening were a bit more narrowed, AND if the leather were more pliable. Works for other folks, though, so maybe it's just not the style for me.
