I love this jacket SO much that I cannot stop wearing it! Temperatures are in the 50's and I still am taking this jacket to work with me. It has a beautiful shape, slender and slimming, but roomy enough to be allow freedom of movement. I love how weightless it is, I can carry it and not feel like I'm being weighed down, which happens with the wool coats. This jacket comes in a longer version too, which I would love to own, but it is more expensive than this. Maybe next season! Only complaint is that Patagonia didn't produce enough of these to fill demand so I didn't get my first choice in color. But I ended up with black and it is still awesome. As always, zappos is the best too!

After reading several reviews about this jacket online, I was a little skeptical about purchasing it. But I'm so glad that I did! It's warm, stylish, feminine and not too bulky. I purchased this jacket in the garnet color and I love it! The red is muted and not too bright. The cold weather doesn't bother me, so this jacket fits its purpose, but if you are someone who tends to get very cold, then perhaps the North Face Transit Parka would be a better choice for its construction and price. Also, I ordered this jacket last night at 9:00 p.m. and got it this morning at 10:00 a.m.! I was amazed at Zappos' fast shipping.

I love this jacket. Not only is it stylish, it is fitted and keeps me warm. I am only wearing a short-sleeve shirt in 30 degree weather.

I debated for weeks on the perfect winter coat (ordering several) and I can safely say that I made a good choice with the Patagonia Downtown Loft Jacket. This coat is super warm, lightweight, water resistant, and stylish. I get cold very easily and this coat has passed the test. It's so light and thin despite that insulated warmth I can even layer with a shell for added protection on the mountain. Lovin' it.

This is it! I bought this for my daughter (21 years old) and I am extremely impressed. I sent 2 different jackets back because they looked better in the photo. This is so much more flattering. It has a slim fit I wouldn't wear too many bulky things underneath or it might feel snug. I wear a 4-6 and this jacket was perfect even with a few layers underneath. It has 2 warm pockets for your hands and when you zip up the pockets they virtually disappear. The hood has a loose fit, but very fashionable look. In a strong wind it probably would not stay. I bought the bitter chocolate color & it has a very rich look. It seems very warm but not bulky.

I bought this jacket in garnet and I love the color. The jacket is pretty warm, but I suggest layering if you are going to be out in the cold for an extended time. The fill on this jacket is great. Not too puffy, easy to move in. I get lots of compliments on the jacket.

This is a beautiful, warm, uniquely elegant, sophisticated down jacket. This could be worn with almost anything, casual to more dressy. I got it to wear for around town use, but I've also used it for walks with friends. I think it's suitable for a wide range of ages; I'm almost 50, and my friends' daughters in their 20s wanted to try it on and asked if I would mind if they bought the same thing. The hood takes a little getting used to, but it is useful, and the shawl collar is very pretty. The fabric looks and feels like silk, very soft. The jacket is so light, with that super high quality down, that it feels like I've just got a little cashmere shawl thrown around me, but at the same time it's very warm. The bitter chocolate color is a sort of eggplant brown, brown with a bit of purple undertone. The length of this jacket is perfect for almost anything, hitting right around the bottom of the hips. One tiny down side is that the collar does not close very high in front, so a scarf might be in order if you were out walking in the cold for very long. I think this is the prettiest down jacket I've seen. I tried the Fiona, too, which is also pretty, but not as warm, and the zipper up the front of that tends to stick out a little.

This jacket is really warm but lightweight and not bulky. 800 fill vs. 600 of The North Face. I was skeptical because I was not sure about the cut, but it is feminine and it keeps shape. I got a M and I can wear size 6 and 8 in jackets depending on the cut. It sits below the hips so it covers and keeps you warm. There is a pocket on the inside and the outside ones are not visible and zip up. Very well made and I will be wearing it all winter.

Beautiful jacket. Looks better in person than on the webbie. When I showed them online both my brother and sister thought it looked ugly, but I thought it looked fine. When it finally came in and they both saw it on me they thought it looked good. It is lighter and less bulky than I thought it would be, so that is awesome!

Really happy with this coat, after I tried several different styles (from several different retailers) to get just the right thing. Great shape - tailored so it's not bulky; nice and warm; very comfortable. I had to buy a size up (normally wear M, bought L of this) but I'm pleased with the fit, sleeve length and coat length. Would maybe like a better way to fasten/adjust the hood, but that's a minor point.

The actual color of jacket is darker. It provides the warmth I really needed during winter. And I don't look heavy with it; in fact I get positive comments. You won't lose your curves while wearing it. Definitely satisfied with this jacket. However, the material of zipper they used on its side pockets are cheap as compared to The North Face. I hope they improve it on that part.

I love this jacket. I know that white gets dirty quickly but it looks great without looking too puffy. The only complaint is that the sleeves seem to be very long.

Loved the color, fit, softness, and quality of jacket. Did not like the style of the hood. Could not get it to lay down enough to not stick out.

This coat is great. It is warm but not too heavy. The material is soft and cozy and the hood is really nice to have. My only criticism is that the zippers on the pockets seem a little flimsy like they will break easily.

It's a very pretty jacket and fits me well, not tight across the chest as many jackets can be. From the photos, I thought it had a big collar, but it actually has a big hood. It seems very thin for a down jacket, and I haven't worn it in really cold weather to know how warm it will be.

This is a beautifully fitted jacket. The sleeves run on the longer side. The pockets are sewn into the side seams with invisable type zippers so they don\'t show at all. It had a 2 way front zipper that makes it a great car coat. The only complaint I have about this jacket is that the hood is almost worthless. It is so loose fitting that one gust of wind and it blows off your head. They needed to put a snap closer to the neck area.

Great coat but should have a Patagonia tag. This coat is wonderful, but for this price, it should definitely have a Patagonia tag on the front. I'm not a label hound, but if I am going to pay that price for a casual coat, I want the name on it. No one would buy Polo without the horse. All other Patagonia jackets have the tag, why not this one? It just looks like every other coat at Target without it.

The color is a great, rusty red orange. The angles of the stitching give it great style. It has both plastic snaps that go all the way up to the neck and a zipper. However, it is much tighter than the same size Downtown parka I have from Patagonia, and the sleeves are really, really long. The wrists have a fleece lining, like the pockets. But it is so tight around my middle, when I have it closed, the zipper pockets bulge out. Sadly, it will have to be returned.

Loved the look and feel of the jacket (very lightweight), yet the fit was an issue. Very long sleeves, snug fit around the waist.

I just received this jacket and it is so soft, and feels amazing when you put it on. It is stylish and high quality, but I am a very average size 4 and this jacket fits me very wrong. The sleeves are very wide and long. I am 5'8 I do not have short arms. I could go to an XS - and I think it would fit better - but my fear is that it would be shorter. It already does not cover my backside completely. I think I will return this and try another jacket, which makes me sad because it is a really nice jacket!

The hood was not attractive when pulled up and for the price it did not seem as well made as a North Face jacket I ended up choosing. The snaps were made of plastic vs. NF's metal and I really had to tug to get them undone. I was afraid I'd rip it over time! I did like the color a lot though.

This jacket runs small, in the bust and the hip. Arm length is okay. My bust 35, waist 27, hip 37. No room to layer or move freely if that is what you want. I always wear a small and was disappointed it did not fit. The snap buttons in the front are a pain, would not like fussing with those, to get the coat on and off. Because it fits very slim in the hips, in order to use as a car coat I would have to unzip form the bottom.

The sleeves seem like they are from a different jacket than the body of the jacket. The sleeves are very long and very large around the arm, but the body was like I was a stuffed sausage.

Loved this jacket. Softer material and a more flattering cut than my similar north face jacket. The collar stays up close to your neck so you don't need a scarf.

I am very happy with my jacket. It is extremely warm. It is lightweight, comfortable, and fitting. It is fitting to the hips, but the zip-up from the bottom can loosen it up if it feels too snug. It looks great - got lots of compliments!
