I think that this is best for very thin women. Anyone with some curves or a bit of junk in the trunk just is not flattering for them. The shawl type hood/collar area is interesting but not practical unless one adds a snap at the collar. The bottom flares out too much which will let cold air in. There is no lining, no cuffs at the sleeve. I do appreciate the zipper going all the way down to the bottom. While I did find it warmer than the North Face Triple C. It is just not practical for me for the price tag. It does have some style though and if I was skinny as a rail or a more boyish figure it might have worked. There is also an overall stiffness to the coat.

This has to be the most elegant and flattering parka ever made. But it's not very warm, it's slow and inconvenient to zip up, and the sleeves have no inner cuffs which is astonishing in a parka, especially one so expensive. I think Patagonia should do a recall and put them in. I had to make my own to keep my arms warm.

Love it, love it! This is my 3rd coat that I tried, and finally it is perfect. Light, warm, great quality and looks fantastic. I am between L and Xl (large 14), 5'7, so it fits just right not baggy and shows some curves (much better than Down With It parka), only sleeves are a little to long, but it was cold this morning and they replaced the gloves :-), otherwise I just fold them inside and it's perfect, stop the cold air. The quality I know will be great because my girls have Patagonia coats and I washed them, dry them many times and they still look great. The money well spend specially when I bought on sale. The ZAPPOS service as always amazing, next day got it for free. Love ZAPPOS! Thank you for such great job.

If you are tall, 5'9" like myself, and want a fitted look but still comfortable enough to have layers underneath, then this coat is for you. It has all the warmth you need with a modern creative design, without looking dated. I love the neutral, yet unique color in grey forge, a darker slightly silvery shine tone that takes it in a different direction than basic black. The sleeves are long with eye catching flared sleeves to fit my longer arms. Here is a fashionable winter coat that is classic enough not to go out of fashion before its time.

Love the coat, it is very warm. I wish I had bought a medium instead of the large. I am 5'5 and weigh 145 and it is a little too big. Needed it for cold trip to NYC; Zappos is magical in their delivery speed!

This is an incredibly warm coat. It does not look ridiculously puffy like other coats. It actually has a flattering fit. I was able to wear this coat in NY in 12 degree weather when it snowed. Everyone else I was with was shivering, but I was cozy and comfortable. It is deceptively thin and I was worried it was not going to keep me warm, but it exceeded my expectations. I am so happy I chose this one.

I am 5'6.5 and am just passing the Sweet Young Thing Era although I still think of myself that way so I didn't want a coat that made me look like someone's great aunt out for a walk wearing a comforter. Found it! Don't look like a walking marshmallow; easy to get around in, no flying feathers and am actually hot (temperature-wise) so no heat in car! Coat is cut so it follows your torso nicely w/out restriction even w/sweaters on and I have a 'momma' figure so I was worried that I'd be playing Cinderella all afternoon w/it trying to decide. Yay for me, I'm warm and cute now and yay for you getting one and big yay for Zappos for having it and having it cheaper than everyone else! (Good thing they do those little fly-by ads, I'd be bumming it monetarily now.)

Best winter coat ever! Put on and go, even over just jeans and t-shirt. Warm enough even in below zero conditions. Hood is wonderful addition...no hats necessary! Love the look, got compliments every time I wore it. Forgiving in hips because of slightly flared shape. Would have loved it more if it were just an inch wider (more flared) but it works. A bit long for a 5'2 130 lb Medium, but warm.

I LOVE this coat. I live in LA and bought it prior to a trip to NYC where they were expecting a cold snap. It WAS cold there but not me. It's thin and light, travels easily, blocks wind and goes great to the office or back in LA on cold soccer mornings with jeans. It is slim cut, you can wear a shirt and a thin sweater, but not anything bulky. I promise you wont need too many layers with this jacket. It's perfect for either coast!

So glad I ordered this cost. Arrived just in time for the big nor'easter and kept me perfectly warm and dry for the walk home from work. With a pair of wellys on your covered from head to toe.

Get it! I love my coat! I am 5'2 and weight about 150 and, yes, the coat is long but I purchased it to commute to work around the City of Chicago. The sleeves are long, the pockets are fine - I don't need them to be that deep as other reviewers would like. The temperature has not been below 0, but the coat has kept me warm at degrees. The coat is great! If you want to be warm, cozy, and feel radiant (in the red), then this is the coat for you!

The frozen tundra of Chicago is where I make my home, and to have gone without at 3/4 or longer down coat was just inanity on my part. This coat fulfills my every need. The only request that I might have is that the cowl neck which becomes a hood could be sown with more heft. Earlier this season, I had opted for fashion over form in the guise of a duck down coat (50/500, and so not the same)! The sale price was a grand incentive on this one as well.

I've been using this over a month now. And it's kept me toasty warm, even in negative wind chill temps. What's best is that it's super light as well as cozy. I don't feel like I'm lugging around a huge coat. Hood is well sized and nicely rolls down when not in use. Well worth the money.

I love, love, love this parka! I'm 6'1" tall with big shoulders and thin (142 pounds). I bought a size L and the fit in the shoulders is perfect. It's big throughout the torso and waist but that is OK with me. The length is perfect. It's WARM (in -30 wind chills), extremely flattering (as it goes in at the waist), and the hood is perfect (serves as a neck warmer when not using it as a hood). Put a splash of color with a scarf and you're good to go!

Perfect coat for Chicago winters; slim fit is very flattering; length is below the knee; ordered XL and there is room for layering - I'm 5'6" and 165 and could easily wear this coat even when those extra lbs drop!

This is a lovely coat, light and long and nice fitting. I am really happy to have it because we are having cold, wet weather and I have to go out many times a day to walk my puppy. I feel lucky to have found it.

Love this coat! After researching long down jackets, I am so happy I picked this one. Tailored fit, super warm, soft, cozy, stylish. Just what I wanted.

I needed a new really warm jacket for the coldest days, and picked this because it has some nice shaping. It is super warm - the coldest day since I received it was about 22 degrees, and I was super warm and snug. So far, no feathers have come through the lining, which is great - I hate getting to work and having to pick feathers off my clothes! High quality super warm coat. With the $$, Zappos had the best price for this coat.

Slimming comfortable, most stylish down coat I have seen. It is so warm and the hood fits perfectly around the face to protect the ears. It looks like it is much much more expensive than it is. A true find

I really love this coat! I was looking for a long coat to wear for work that will actually keep me warm! I like that it is soft and not too bulky. It is true to size. I am normally an 8 dress and I purchased the Medium...just right to allow for a sweater or light jacket. Get it!

Fantastically light and very warm coat, but you'd better be slim, as it hugs the body. I usually take a XS (I'm 5.5, lb 115), but I ordered it in both XS and S, and ended up keeping the S, as I wanted to be able to wear a heavy sweater or a fitted suit jacket underneath, if need be. The collar/hood combination is clever and looks surprisingly attractive. I bought this coat because I'll be in Europe next winter and needed something light, warm but not bulky, and also elegant.

This was a gift for my wife and she loves the coat. The only downside is the hood because it is not adjustable. The coat fits her great and it is super thin for such a warm coat.

While this coat may be on the pricey side in comparison to similar long down coats I can tell you that it is worth the extra dollars because no others compare on quality, warmth and style. This coat is the most comfortable, stylish and warm coat I have ever owned. I live in the Inland Northwest in Washington State near a mountain where we get very cold weather from 40-50 mile per hour winds along with several feet of snow in the winter. I have never had another coat that didn't require additional layers of long underwear to keep me warm all over. I can face any weather now and know that I won't be freezing while outside. I would strongly recommend this coat to anyone.

Mostly, I agree with the other reviews. I love the coat. It is probably the most comfortable coat I've ever owned. Very warm and lightweight. It is good in the wind. The pockets are small but is intentional. Stuffing the pockets with mittens and such would ruin the nice princess lines that make the coat so pretty. I do not find the snaps tough but the zipper is tricky so I don't use it unless necessary.

I searched for a long time before I found the "perfect" long coat. I wanted a combination of warmth (for the cold Chicago winters) and style (something that did not make me look dumpy and puffy). I found both in this parka. People have commented on 2 things: how slender I still look in the coat and what a perfect length the coat is. My only complaint, which is why I gave it 4 stars overall and not 5, is that the zipper sometimes get stuck in the material. Not sure if this is just on my particular coat, or a wider issue, but it is not much of a problem at this stage, so I am keeping this great coat. I would definitely recommend!
