I've owned my Kahuna's for 15 years. Getting older, I am (finally) starting to realize that I am starting to need some minor assistance with the small print. It looks like I'll be ordering a pair of readers from MJ

I bought my first pair in the 80s and I never looked back. The old saying you get what you pay for is exactly it. The best sun glasses and have and would recommend to everybody

Have owned same pair of Kahuna's for nine years. Best $300 you will spend and your eyes will thank you every day. Whether at the beach, driving, boating or on the mountain, they simply excel. Terrific optics, wonderful materials and construction, handsome frames make the Kahuna best in class.

I have been using Maui Jim's ever since my sister bought me my first pair 12 years ago ! I am completely addicted! These are the best sun glasses I have ever used hands down ! I even use them in the rain, as the polarization makes it even easier to see, especially in Florida where we sometimes get downpours with the sun out! I am not one to write reviews very often, but I feel so strongly about the Maui Jim product, I just had to. the other thing about the glasses are, they look Great !! Mine are the Kahuna style. One other thing I must mention is I have dropped my present pair multiple times, and they finally broke a lense last weekend. so they are tough ! I am so glad they have the repair service, which saves some money as apposed to buying a completely new pair ! sending them out right away !! Thank you Maui Jim for such a fantastic product, and providing the repair service.

I recently bought a new pair of the Kahuna style glasses. This is my fourth pair of Maui's and second pair of the Kahuna to keep in my truck. Sturdy frames stay securely on the face without slipping down even when horseback riding.

I am a cheap, frugal, thrifty person so the thought of spending $300 on a pair of sunglasss did not appeal top me. After owning these sunglasses for a week I am very glad I purchased them. I have owned Oakleys, Ray-Ban Boelle, Italian designer eyewear as well as cheap drugstore eyewear. These are without a doubt the best sunglasses I have ever owned I have used them hiking, and watching tennis all day long at professional tennis tournaments. The optics are wonderful and enhance all of thecolors that your see. If you are hard on your sunglasses do not buy these they nee d to be taken care of properly. If you view sunglasses as an investment in in your eyes buy these sunglasses and you will be very glad that you did.

My wife and I both are Opticians in Florida. She has a Maui of some other kind with brown lenses, that's just her color of comfort. I have these Kahuna's in grey that I love to use on the beach or fishing. I find them a bit to dark when out on my Harley or in the truck so I just now ordered a brown pair to use in the lower light conditions like grey overcast days, early morning fog late evening haze. The brown is also awesome to use while ripping up and down the mountains. It just makes the colors really POP! As manager of a optical shoppe Maui Jim is the only one I direct people to for prescription or just generally great sunglasses. I have other brands here in the office that I can Rx for people.......costa.#$ &1% something or another. MJ Rx turn around time is just super awesome. The order starts just as soon as I key it into Vision Web. I generally have the Rx pair to me in three days.

I've had Oakleys, Ray Bans, Costas, etc... You name it, I've had it or at least tried it. Maui Jims are by far the best sunglasses I've worn. I use them for driving, boating, fishing, golf, watching outdoor sporting events. Although they are pricey, they are worth every bit you pay for. Going on 4 years on this pair. The last pair was "borrowed" by someone who forgot to ask and has yet to return them. I guess that person liked them too. Highly recommended, but not for kids. Especially not my kids. They can not keep a pair if their lives depended on it.

I purchased a pair of Kahunas in 2000 when I was a yacht broker and I currently wear them when flying my Cessna. They have travelled the US and Caribbean and are worn daily. The lens quality is superb and the frame is sturdy. Maui Jim customer service is excellent as I've sent them in for repair twice (my fault) and they couldn't be nicer. They are currently in for repair of scratched lenses (again my fault) and I only wish the rose lens was still available. I'm sure the bronze will work great too.

The only pair of sunglasses I've owned that didn't give me a headache!! I had a pair for ten years and lost them at the lake. I tried others, but none came close. I saved up and purchased my second pair last month. GREAT!!!

I bought my first pair 18 years ago, and lost them after 12 years on a cruise ship. For the next 6 years, I've been trying all kinds of different brands, but nothing ever came close to the feel, clarity, and quality that my old Kahuna had. Just bought another pair, and couldn't be happier!

This is my second pair. My first pair survived 14 years. They are absolutely perfect. They kept my eyes comforted during travels from Del Mar, California to St. John, USVI.

This is my 3rd and favorite pair of Maui Jim's. Note the base curve in their adds. These are 8's and curve to your face. The 6's are more flat and will fit in your pocket with less of a bulge.

If clarity is a priority go for the ST (SuperThin) Glass lenses. I prefer the Neutral Grey full tint over the MauiGradient and HCL Bronze Lenses. The arms on the Kahuna sunglasses are easily adjusted and they feel very comfortable and secure on. Highly Recommended .

On the surface these glasses are expensive. High quality protection in Southern California is a must. Outdoor living take's a toll on eyes if you don't have excellent protection. I purchased these glasses when my oldest son was in Middle School. He is now married and has two children. I was bummed when the supporting nose pad finally fell apart from age last year. So I called, the helpful person on the phone said, I'll send you a new pair of pads no charge! I installed them, and it worked great. The natural color rendition of these glasses is great. They are a perfect level of darkening for high level lighting. They are extremely durable and very comfortable. The value is high considering mine are about 20 years old and still performing well. I will buy another pair from Maui Jim, probably for retirement!

I bought my Kahuna's after getting Lasik in 2000 so they are now 14 years old. First pair of high-priced glasses I ever bought but, wow, the difference. They look great and are comfortable and the lenses just relax the eyes. I have used them driving, at the beach, on the boat, hiking, camping, etc.

I usually get them every 2 years, all different . This is my 3rd pair and so far the best!! The cost is covered by my insurance so I could basically pick any brand of sunglasses. I went to the optical store and I just fell in love with maui jim! Everything about them is different from the competitors( if they even have any?) I did not look at anything below 200$$$. Ray ban, Gucci or Serengeti all just exist but there is just something else that make Maui Jim stand above them all!!!!!!!

I purchased a pair of Kahunas back in 2008. I have a reading and a distant prescription in them and use them primarily for driving and for outdoor activities. I've had 3 different pairs of prescription glasses with transition tint since 2008 because I'm told my eyes are getting worse. But these Mauis won't quit. I can see perfectly and the tint soothes my eyes much better than the transition lenses. The Mauis are also much easier to clean. I was thinking of getting a new frame style because after all its been six years with the same frame and prescription, but after reading the reviews on this page I think this style may have become a mainstay at least for driving. My wife says I look really cool with these on in my BMW. I think I'll keep these Kanunas until they fall off my face or I can't see thru them.

After buying these beautifully crafted Maui Jim sunglasses, I regret every single penny I ever spent on Oakley's products, which are all cheap plastic (both frames AND lenses) and average nearly $100 for the cheapest styles. I've owned this copper-colored Kahuna design for about seven years now and they're still in mint condition because everything is top-quality; the frames are metal, the polarized lenses are glass, and all the trim is highly detailed and milled (the metal parts, especially). Even the tortoise shell is superb in finish. NOTE: The copper color is between gold and a new copper penny; it's basically perfect in my humble opinion. I'm now buying a second pair to keep in another car, as I can never remember to move the first one around correctly and since they're expensive, I didn't need two pairs initially. That's the funny thing though; you REALLY get what you pay for! These are like a Rolex -- you're going to be handing them to somebody one day as a memento of yourself because they will still be around and in great shape. The Kahuna design is timeless too, as all my family has tried them at one moment or another while in my car and they look good on many face types. So yeah, it's just a pair of sunglasses, but if you're willing to spend a bit now, you'll never ever have to buy a another pair again (unless you need another pair in a second location). And again, a reminder: do not bother with other brands' plastic glasses... you'll just end up with scratched plastic lenses and a guilty conscience.

I have worn these sunglasses daily for the 15 years they have been made - I wouldn't wear any other brand. My Kahuna's have been worn all over the USA, Mexico, Africa and will soon be going to New Zealand - my only choice to protect my eyes. Carry a back-up pair and you'll never be un-protected. Congratulations Maui Jim on a fine product.

I have owned many different brands, designs, lens types and these are simply the best sunglasses I have ever purchased. Two years ago I got the bronze as I always like a tint, usually rose, but this tint just works The quality of materials in the frame, the glass lenses, the comfortable fit, makes these the complete package.
