I believe this is the first time I have reviewed shoes on Zappos. I am about to buy my 3rd pair of these. The first pair I messed up by tossing into the washing machine one time. I have had them a year though and I wore them all day, 8-5 at my office job as a city planner and then all evening into the night doing all the rough work of restoring an old wood house. I have no arch, and am pretty much flat footed. These boots provide me just the right amount of everything. I can wear them 10 hours a day easy. They are very good looking and very professional looking. Like the best tool in the box.

I have worn redwings for 30 years. The heritage chukka is a very good shoe, comfortable from the first day, classic, simple and hard working. The boot breaks in and molds to your foot. Do not hesitate to spend the money on these shoes, I bought 2 pairs of cheaper work boots just and ended up back with these red wings. Best decision I made. Made in the USA too, the country needs our support as much as possible at this point. Support our industry, buy USA.

4th pair of RW and still completely satisfied. The Chukkas are very comfortable out of the box. Highly recommended.

Shoes are very hard to get into. The opening for your instep is very small.

I nearly always where a 10. I dropped to a 9.5 as the 10 was too large. The 9.5 was right in length, but very tight in width. This was with the D(M) width. I'll try the EE as a final test and write another review to conclude.

No insoles here. Just concrete-hard leather that never molded to my sore flat feet. Worn them inside an hour at a time for a week, but could not stand the pain. These felt like I was standing on my garage floor barefoot.

I have a rigid foot with a high instep and was barely able to get these on, even when completely unlaced. They come without any kind of insole - your foot sits on a flat, rock hard boot board. My instep was crushed and my metatarsal heads were on fire. Not a good boot for my foot shape and biomechanics. The quality appears wonderful and they would probably break in eventually, but my feet would break first. They run a bit long in the length, relatively narrow in width, and low in the instep. They would be good for a long, narrow, low volume foot. Too many fit issues for me to keep them.

I can't get 'em to fit right. Not having a cushioned insole has been problematic for me. The 10.5 fit well but I need cushion. So I bought the 11 and just can't find an insole to fit comfortably. Still have heel slip after 3 months. Mine are definitely broken in, I have abused them at work. I'm a turf manager so I'm on grass a lot, in water, on my feet all day. These things look great and I'm a huge wedge sole fan because dirt scrapes right off but I feel I wasted my money. I just can't get comfortable in these things, they hurt my feet, and heel slip won't stop, and I'm even now using Red Wing heat moldable insoles.

A very disappointing purchase. I had bought Red Wing boots in the past, and they were wonderful. These boots do not fall into that category. They are stiff, ill fitting, and uncomfortable. I have been breaking them in now for more than a month; they are some better, but still stiff. I have never owned a pair of footwear which has been as uncomfortable as these. I am 81 and have bought a lot of shoes over the years. A thirty dollar Chinese shoe from Wal-Mart is more accurately sized, constructed with more supple leather, and needs less breaking in than these.
I'd also recommend:
Anything other than Red Wing.

I've worn size 10 1/2 EE all my life and these shoes will not even go on my foot. It says that they are 10 1/2 EE, but they are more like size 8. Way too small.

Gents, I tried...I really tried; however, these boots are very uncomfortable. I love the look of these boots and there is no doubt they would have been exceptionally durable. I've worn them for about a month and a half and they still feel like there are lumps in the soles. I can wear them for about an hour and my feet will hurt for the hour after I take them off. I have owned other pairs of Red Wing boots for years and I'm a big fan, but these are terrible. I'm very disappointed...and out the money. Buyer beware.
