worst great for 15+ years. "does with..." is wrong. Look up the ever goods bag and its not even the same. Sounds like a corolla driver who buys a F150 and then complains about "the big square storage in the back, and why there is no trunk". What a buffoon

i have a quite a few older models of NF back packs, including a 2008 jester and 2010 surge. i got the new surge to switch things up a little and i hate it. already donated. in order to use it for a trip, i had to modify it by removing the rearmost divider so i could make the largest compartment functional. while it increased the usable capacity of the bag quite a bit, 31 liters is laughable. maybe more like 25 on a good day. what bothered me most while traveling was that completely unnecessary and oversized plastic board in the back. i did not know this was in it and not removable, or i would have avoided altogether. it restricts interior capacity, digs into my back, and causes the bag to tip forward while sitting, even with trying to pack the front base of the bag as support. i tried to take it out (i do a lot of sewing and could re-mend it) but it is literally sewn into the bag. UGH. since my 2010 version is amazing and still going strong, my husband now uses it and i have upgraded to an evergoods bag, which i LOVE (AND the plastic brace is removable!) northface- chill out on all the unnecessary pockets and frill and focus on durability. get back to your roots. peace out.

Great backpack. Coming from the smaller Jester, this thing is massive. It's also far more comfortable, I use this backpack for daily use. The last one I had lasted just over 15 years- this one should last for 20. Great build quality for sure!

My son uses this every day for high school. He loves the way the sections are organized and chose this model over several other NF backpacks. Love that it stands so well!!

I got this for my brother and it works perfect for him as a school bag! There are a bit too many compartments which makes it quite thick but it is still functional.

**Review: The North Face Surge Backpack**
I've been using The North Face Surge Backpack for a few weeks now, and it has quickly become my go-to bag for almost everything. With its **31-liter capacity**, it's spacious enough to hold all my essentials without feeling bulky. The **streamlined design** is both stylish and functional, making it suitable for work, travel, and daily use.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the **15'' laptop sleeve**. It's well-padded and secure, providing excellent protection for my laptop. The sleeve's placement allows for easy access, which is incredibly convenient when I need to quickly grab my laptop for work or security checks at the airport.
The backpack's **water-repellent finish** has been a lifesaver on several occasions. Living in an area prone to sudden rain showers, I no longer have to worry about my belongings getting wet. This feature adds a layer of practicality that I didn't realize I needed.
Another thoughtful design element is the backpack's ability to **stand unsupported**. It might seem like a small detail, but it makes a big difference when I'm working in a crowded space or need to access my items quickly. The bag remains upright and stable, which is a nice touch.
Overall, The North Face Surge Backpack is an excellent choice for anyone in need of a versatile and reliable bag. Its combination of capacity, protection, and thoughtful design features make it indispensable for everyday use. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality backpack.

I'm using this for my school backpack. I don't use my locker and I needed something that would hold everything I need each day. It's the perfect size and I love North Face products because they offer a LIFETIME Warranty.

I like the pockets, but a big issue with this backpack is that you can't really fill all of the pockets. Once you put a laptop and notebook in the first compartment and then fill the front pockets the ability to use the main large pocket is drastically reduced. I can barely get a water bottle to squeeze in. I wish they would have kept the old Surge backpack design from a couple years ago, that worked much better

This bag is everything. I am a daily business backpack user and have had some great backpacks in the past. I did a ton of research and decided on this Surge Backpack. It is by far my favorite backpack that Ive ever used. It's the perfect size and great quality. I anticipate using this for years and years.
