I realize I need a narrow width. This is my first pair of Birkenstocks. Exchanging.

My old Arixona Birks were a 38 narrow, soft footbed. I’m a size 8 and I have narrow feet. While the old Birks were pretty comfortable, my toes always hit the edge and the footbed never really lined up in the right places. This time, I first tried the 38N soft footbed, but was the same all over again. I then tried 39N soft footbed which was entirely too long and big. Even on the last hole my feet were sliding through. I then tried the 38N in the regular footbed, which seems to fit the best. Without the layer of foam, there is a little more length and width. Now I’m slowly breaking them in. My last pair lasted for 5 years and I hope these will too. Thanks to Zappo’s for making the process as easy as possible.

The wide straps are stiff and masculine in appearance.

I liked the shoes, but they arrived with no tags and had obviously been worn before. There were dark toe prints already on the left shoe. Ewwww. I've been trying on Birks in many different stores and have never seen that, even on the display ones. It grossed me out, so I am sending them back. What a hassle.

I decided to finally order my first pair of Birkenstocks as a treat to myself and my feet. I should have read the reviews more closely as I first ordered a regular width and they were way too big. Luckily, Zappos excellent exchange policy made it easy and quick to return and receive the narrow width. I have only worn them once so I can't comment much on the comfort as I feel they still need some break in time, but first wear had no issue. I took off one star because the oiled leather does show every little scratch (at least in the Tobacco color).

My son measures a men's 7, but wears a size 8.5 in athletic shoes (a 9 in cleats). These sandals are very very true to size, but not true to shoe size. So if you want the shoe to fit the way it's suppose to fit, buy the size your foot measures, which in his case was a 7. He will most likely grow out of them, but in the meantime, they fit him perfectly.

My son thought these were cozy and comfy but opted to keep some Keens that are waterproof.

This shoe was great and fits the sole of my feet really well. The only caveat is that I have large feet but they aren’t really thick so the straps aren’t as snug as I’d like them to be. I think if they had another hole it’s be perfect but fortunately it’s leather so it’s an easy diy fix.

Great shoe! Love the consistency of Birkenstocks. Disappointed in color, definitely more tan/light than pictures show. Lots of discrepancy between color of shoe on Zappos vs. birk website. Will keep, but would have preferred a medium brown like the tobacco name implies.

I got the black oiled leather Arizona to compare to big buckle style. As reference, I normally wear 9.5 and have a Gizeh size 40 in white that fit perfectly. I bought this in size 40 as well and although I have a Narrow foot, chose regular width. I definitely needed a size 41 in the Arizona style. My front toes touched the edge. And regular width did not seem narrow at all. I am returning these and keeping the big buckle black Arizona size 41 for a couple reasons: - the big buckle style seems a bit more modern/trendier due to (duh) the big buckle- which does not look plastic as other reviewers mention - it also has a black leather footbed- more modern look and feels more luxurious than normal cork footbed - the big buckle model ONLY came in a Narrow size but guess what? It seemed more roomy than the normal width Arizona on my foot - I’m looking for a transitional sandal into fall and the big buckle black did seem more substantial for jeans or darker colors. - they were also very comfortable right out of the box. I will break them in with socks once it cools off a bit.

Bought a 39 narrow which fit great, I typically wear a size 8-8.5 in US sizing. My only complaint was the color (Tobacco) is a bit different than the picture. Online it looked to have more of a warm/golden undertone while in real life they definitely lean towards the gray side.

I enjoy these sandals now that they are broken into. I usually always order wide because my feet are on the wider side but these are wider than I thought! I considered returning them but they’re so comfy. They’re just a bit too wide

Not too bad. Not my go though as they tend to feel loose and slip off.

The size was a medium. I probably could have fit in a narrow. The slight upturn at the front of the sandle rubs toes.

They were better than expected. I love the color, the distressed look of the habana color and it was a perfect fit. Now, to break them in…

Takes some time to break in. Seems a bit long (I'm likely a half size) but hoping looser is better. It's my first pair so I'm new to the fit and feel.

Shoes fit fine but the leather seems stiff and may cause discomfort. Continue to wear around the house, but may end up returning.

Since it is unisex I ordered regular as well as narrow width. I have a medium width foot, but the regular width was too wide. Narrow fits well and I also went up a size from my regular size. Wore them short periods of time daily to break in, and they have molded to my foot and are now comfortable. Very happy with them. I was a Mephisto sandal wearer for years.

I wear a 9.5 in various shoe manufactures so in Birkenstocks that means (42) my toes are right up against the foot bed and because my left foot is a bit longer that the right the fit is mismatched. I go with a 43 which gives me much more room but also much more space between my toes and the foot bed up front. I bought my first Briks about 30 years ago and also went with a 43 which took about a year to fit perfectly. By then I'd worn them to the point of no return and had to by a new pair about 5 years later. I love Birkenstocks and the extra room isn't that much of a problem because they really help with my foot problems and sciatica/back problems. My Briks of choice have always been the Arizona but I'm gonna give the Milano a try. I wish you could customize with ordering one foot a 43 and one a 42 but that would be too expensive to order two separate pairs with two sandals you can't use. Maybe a reddit like trade page could be useful.

First wearing they were a bit tight. Need to adjust the straps as I wear them.

I have had other models of Birkenstocks so I knew what to expect for the size. Depending on the brand, I wear between 11-12 and this size claims to be 11-11.5, so true to size. The shoe takes a while to break in and get comfortable. In the beginning, it seems excessively rigid and the leather is very stiff. But it all adjusts to my feet after a few weeks or more. All of the materials seem to be of high quality and supportive.
