the narrow in Birkenstocks are regular to narrow width. their regular width is for wide feet. it takes a few weeks for these to break in ( or your foot to get used to). excellent for lower back issues or plantar fascitis issues. wear with socks if you have a cold climate!

I bought the Birkenstock Arizona oiled leather for my daughter for her birthday. She absolutely loves them. Every time she wears them she tells me so! I was worried about the fit because her feet are different sizes, but the chart is right on for the correct sizing. She has been wearing them for two months now with no issues.

I see what people are saying about the width. I have average width feet for a woman, but went with the medium width over the narrow width for two reasons: 1) I like to have lots of room for my toes to spread out 2) I like to wear socks, sometimes thick wool ones, with Birks in the colder months A couple other things: the “tobacco” color is a bit lighter than the photos and the oil leather is pretty hard and will definitely need some break-in time. Love my new Birks!

First off....WOW on the shipping. We are out in west Texas, not near a major city. I ordered these around 3pm. I immediately realized I should have ordered a second pair, and called to add a shoe to our order. The representative said "sorry, but the shipping process has started, we are quick, but I can get another shipment going." Well...we received the shoes THE NEXT MORNING at 10 am, from Kentucky if I am remembering correctly. They must have put those shoes on the plane while I was on the phone talking to the rep. Wow. That was fast. Kudos to Zappos. The shoes were great, fit perfectly, and are exactly what we expected. I am still in awe of that shipping speed. Reindeer and some magic must have been involved.

I had Birkenstocks when I was in high school and wore them out in college. I'm finally to the point in life that I wanted another pair and was surprised by how much the prices have gone up over the years, but then I realized I'm just old, LOL. These were stiffer than I remember my old ones being, but once they broke in, they're the only sandals I want to wear. I even sometimes do the geek thing and wear them with socks. I wish they came in half sizes since these felt a tad large, but not large enough to go down a whole size. Great sandals, and seem unchanged from years ago when I had the same ones as a teenager. They really help my posture and tired legs after hard workouts and long runs. I have average to slightly flat feet and the support in Birkenstocks really evens out my ankles rather than letting them pronate.

These are my go to comfort sandals. I have had several pairs of Arizona sandals over the years and I just love them. Fit my wide toe box foot like a dream. Super supportive and this is a great neutral color. Get a pair, you won't be sorry.

I purchased a pair of 38N Arizona sandals and they fit just right! These sandals are SUPER comfortable and supportive - be warned, if you’ve never worn them before it takes a few weeks for your feet to get used to them. Once they break in, you’ll never want to wear any other sandals! Buckles make them easy to adjust. 4 Stars for style because the oiled leather does scuff easily.

These are my favorite shoes! I stand on my feet all day but these provide great support and they are so comfy!

I ordered a narrow since some of the reviews said the regular was too wide, but I feel like I could've gone either way. They are a bit stiff still after wearing for two days, hopefully they will break nicely.

After not wearing Birks since college 20 years ago, I just started wearing them again. My first purchase (from Zappos) was a pair of Arizona soft footbed in Tobacco Oiled leather. I LOVED them, but after wearing them for over 6 months the leather straps starting breaking away from cork. Of course Zappos with their amazing service said I could send them back for an exchange or refund. I really think I must have had a "faulty" pair. At the time I ordered a replacement pair they only had regular footbed available so I thought I would try those. So here's the deal on soft footbed vs. regular. Initially, the soft footbed is more comfortable and easier to break-in. However, long-term, if you plan on wearing your Birks often and long-term, the regular footbed actually molds to your foot better.

Perfect fit, exactly what I was looking for to prolong an older pair of Birks, I prefer the original footbed, thank you!

Funky sizing. Zappos sent me a used pair too. It was weird.

This is the second pair I've bought for my teenage son. The first ones he thoroughly wore out and outgrew. Good support for his feet. I recommend these often for my patients and my kids.

Because I was replacing my 28-year-old Birkenstock Arizonas that had served me unfailingly through all of the abuse I had given them, I knew my ideal Birkenstock shoe size -- 37, which is in stark contradiction to my ever-true European shoe size -- 39. Almost all the shoes I own are European-made shoes, and more exclusively, German-made. In no other shoe do I wear anything other than a 39. Keep this in mind when ordering these shoes. I also recommend visiting the Birkenstock site to understand proper fit. There should be only a smidge of space in the front and no space at all in the back, with the heel seated deeply and snugly in the footbed. You will immediately sense the therapeutic value of a perfect fit.

I’ve had this before, different leather look this time. Consistent brand and style. My favorite footwear outside of the office.

Arizona Birks! What more needs to be said? Tried and true in my usual size 39 narrow. ??

I always wear a men's size 11 but went with a 10 based on reading other reviews. The 10 fits perfectly just like an 11 should. Order a size down from your usual size.

I ordered the oiled leather in the tobacco color and I LOVE them! I have several pair of Birks in different styles and I always go back to the original Arizona. I have very high arches and Birks are the most comfortable shoes I own. The size is perfect. I wear a 6 1/2 - 7 and I ordered a 37. They form to your foot well. It takes a while to break in the leather as opposed the synthetic material. The leather starts off hard but wearing them softens them. But I really like the oiled leather because the straps don't droop down when you take them off, they stay right where they are.

Bought these as a birthday gift for my dad to replace his old pair. They fit TTS (he wears a men's 8.5, average width). No break-in time, he regularly wears them out and about in the summer and around the house.

I read that narrow = regular and regular really = wide, so I originally bought a narrow and was so sad when I had to return them and wait for regulars to be in stock again. I have regular-width feet and definitely found the narrow size to be too narrow. I'm so happy with these shoes; I wear them everywhere.

Like any good pair of birks, they take a week or so to break in, but once they fit your feet, they are good for the next decade!
