After reading the reviews I ordered a size below my usual size and the shoes fit perfect. Thanks you for the reviews! I had to wear them with socks to break them in. I found the upper straps to be very stiff, they hurt. Of course I don't wear them with socks, but even after the break in period they still hurt. The upper material is not comfortable. I never wear them out shopping or walking, but love them for the house. Love the support. It is my first pair of Birkenstocks. I also loved the color. To be fair my feet are very sensitive and my skin is very thin.

These are very cute Birkenstocks. They are dressier than the normal Birkenstocks. They run long. I usually wear a 37, but following reviews purchased a 36. I usually wear a 6WW and these fit. There is not as much support because of the single strap, but they fit the bill for my need of a dressier shoe which I could wear for a few hours is not much walking is involved. If you are looking for stability and support, I would not recommend this shoe. For stability and support, buy Birkenstocks with more straps or try their clogs. Four stars on comfort is really because I have RA and deteriorating bones in my feet, not because of the shoe, and hardly any shoe is really comfortable for me.

Workmanship and fit is excellent. Single strap is not as comfortable as 2-strap styles. The strap lies too close to the big toe base and rubs in a sensitive area on top of the foot. Have many other styles and would highly recommend Birkenstock shoes in general.

I bought these because I wanted good sandals, but Birkenstock is rather expensive. They were among the least expensive styles of the brand. They are comfortable and cute, but I would not recommend wearing them to walk long distances, since there is no support of your foot or ankle. I bought my size, normal width and they were way too wide, so I returned them and bought the narrow width.

Birkenstock Madrid - Bought this shoe upon a co worker's recommendation. I have falling arches and my feet supinate when I walk, thus I needed a quality shoe that looked okay with different outfits. I liked the Madrid; it's simple, nothing fancy. Haven't had arch pain, can wear it with just about anything. Follow the manufacturer's size recommendations for Birkenstock, and the fit will be perfect.

I have several pairs of Birkenstocks in wide and narrow fit, but this is the only pair that felt much narrower than any other. Very disappointing because I love this style.

For comfort and simple elegance, these sandals are on target. I hoped these would be good quick on and off sandals for around the beach. I'm sure they would be fine in sandy conditions, but on my kitchen floor, they were very slippery. Not a good quality in foot wear, so I'm returning.

These are pretty but the strap comes across right where my foot flexes when I walk and doesn’t really hold my foot onto the footbed. Off to find something more comfortable.

The overall fit was not bad. The upper material felt cheap and looked cheap. The top strap felt hard and not very giving. For the price they should look better and feel better. The foot bed was comfortable. Would not waste my money on the non leather Birkenstock. Sent back them back.

Very unhappy they don't make these in real leather. My only option is to get the big buckle ones if I want real leather. I'm super disappointed in Birkenstock.

I wanted to love these! The one strap just didn't hold the shoe on my foot well. As I was walking, I felt like I had to really concentrate on keeping the shoes on. I usually wear a 9 1/2 and ordered the 41 (10-10 1/2) based on other comments about how Birkenstocks should fit. The fit length and width wise was great, I just couldn't keep them on my foot! I have returned and ordered a different style.

This was my very first Birkenstock purchase. I was very excited to have these sandals as my summer go-to shoe, but unfortunately they were very uncomfortable for me. I have quite wide and flat feet, so within 30 minutes of wearing them, the arch support on the shoe began to hurt my non-existent arch, as the arch on the sole is quite hard. Unlike other shoes I have bought with arch support, these were too intrusive on my foot. Therefore, I'm not so sure that these shoes are ideal for those with very flat feet like myself. Perhaps if the sole had been a bit softer, they would have worked just fine.

A cute look for a not really stylin' shoe. Very hard sole that may soften up, but not yet. Love the patent leather strap that is sizeable.

This is my second pair of Birkenstocks, well, actually, my first pair is by Papillio, Birkenstock's cuter younger sister. These shoes are the panacea for sore feet! The strap is adjustable for my narrow feet. Unfortunately, you have to look long and hard to find Birkenstocks/Papillios that are also attractive, and this white patent style makes the cut! The moment I get home, these shoes go on my feet! Ahhhh! I buy a smaller size (L7--38) than my usual size (8).

I wore these the other day for the first time and have been since wearing bandaids with antibiotic cream. My feet have been killing me. These deceivingly need to be throughly broken in for them to be comfortable. These are not meant for any considerable amount of walking, at least in the beginning.

Unable to wear the shoes they are very hard inside and hurt the bottom of my feet. Felt like walking on concrete.

Size stated 11.5. It was an 11. Too small.

I bought these in Italy. Even though the support was great, the strap wreaked major havoc on the skin of the top of my foot. I was really disappointed.

These shoes are cute, however the strap goes over a certain part of your foot/toe that is not comfortable when you walk. It feels like it hits a pressure point.

I always used birkenstock size 38. I guess the conversion you use is wrong…
