I really wanted a brown walking shoe that didn’t look too much like a sneaker. These were just a bit too chunky and stiff for my needs. They are attractive, for sure, and have a nice arch support. They would probably make a great hiking shoe, given they are also waterproof. If I needed a hiker, I would keep them. They rub around the ankles a bit, but if heavy socks were used, I doubt that would be a problem. I thought they were a smidge on the roomy side, so one would have room for those heavy socks. Comfortable, but not quite as refined as I was wanting, so am sadly returning them.

I walked 2 miles the first day I put them on and no blisters. Very comfortable cut and well padded.

Too much slipping in the heel for my wide foot and narrow heel. I ended up buying Eccos which didn\'t slip, and almost bought Vasque which also fit my heel. \r\nThese did feel well cushioned.

Attractive, hard-to-find shade of medium brown. For me, the shoes run 1/2 size larger than certain other New Balance walking shoes (such as 749), especially in width (I still bought my usual wide width, though). I wondered whether to spray, as I usually do new shoes, with water- and stain-proofing spray. I called the manufacturer and was advised that because of the Gore-Tex material, I should not add anything (would make the already weather-worthy material less breathable). I wore the shoes during a three-hour walk on a rainy-snowy day and they were great.

These are the best shoes I\'ve gotten in a decade. I need a wide toe box and regular heel. The Wo-1 last is perfect. These shoes were comfortable the first time I wore them. I like the muted colors, and wish more shoes of this type were made like these.\r\n\r\nI am seriously thinking of buying a second pair to keep before NB stops making these.

Shoes are very comfortable, fit true to size, and were what I was hoping for: good, rugged, waterproof hiking/traveling shoes.

Fit well. Good thick soles for walking on cobblestones and rough ground. Comfortable.

I really love this shoe. I ordered my normal size and it fit perfectly. (I have other New Balance shoes and have always found them true to size). It took a day or two to get used to these and the sole is a bit thicker than my other shoes, but find them extremely comfortable. They are meeting expectations in terms of keeping my feet dry in very wet grass. I love the style and think they go well at work and play. The brown color does not show the dirt.

The sneakers are true to size and require no breaking in. They are very comfortable and a great walking sneaker.

I am very pleased with my shoes. Nice to walk through the grass with dry feet! The fit is comfortable with nice wide toe box. I think they will be great for winter walking, too.

Finally found my hiking boots - I need a wide toebox - I have foot "issues". I wear orthotics but like to walk for miles. This boot is well made - smooth inside, good looking, great color, did not need to be broken in, and watherproof. My only complaint is that it will be kind of warm for summer hiking. I bought and returned many pairs before finding these - they are perfect!

Simply the Best - This is by far the best walking shoe by New Balance I have purchased. It has style, and comfort, and my feet don't get so tired. It also accommodates my custom orthotics very well. If New Balance would make this shoe in black as well, I would buy in a heart beat.

Best waterproof shoes I've ever had - I've tried several shoes to avoid wet toes walking my dogs through wet grass. These shoes fit the bill!

I have only worn this shoe a few times, so keep this in mind when reading the review. Shoe feels true to size. Haven't been able to test the waterproofness as of yet. Only thing I have noticed, so far, that might, over time, become an issue is around the heel. The shoe seems to be a big small, tight, snug, in this area, compared to any other shoe I own.

Beautiful shoe! Nicely made. Unfortunately the heel was too wide and no matter how I tied them or tried heel grippers, I couldn't stop the slip. The shoe was also very stiff.

It is not as comfortable as other New Balances I own, and I do walk a lot. It is kind of hard on my ankle bone.

These are very comfortable in town or around the house. But in the woods, on trails, or on gravel they do not have good stability. I am not sure if it's because the sole is so thick and unflexable or what.

The shoes have good support and fit the same as other New Balance Shoes of the same last. They could use more cushioning in the insole.

Very nice looking. Pretty true to size, might be a little narrow. I did a D with and it was a hair tight, but they are new. Good cushion. They have a lot of heal slipping. I have never had that problem so when I read the other reviews I didn\'t worry much about it. But it is a lot, they are very loose in the heal and move up and down a great deal. I really need some waterproof shoes and I\'m having a really hard time finding some. I think I will return these. Since they look so nice I want to try them on in the morning tomorrow before deciding. I ordered the NB 1520, so I\'ll see how those are. Zappos is wonderful since they have so many shoes and in wide widths.

Recently had a knee replacement and was having difficulty finding a shoe that offered good support and provided more "balance" than the shoes I have had. The New Balance WW955 seems to be the answer. Shortly prior to that, I had a pair of athletic shoes that had a lot of mesh on the uppers. I have a supination problem, and the mesh shoes simply didn't give me the support that this new (without mesh) shoe does. I had picked out a possible 5 pair of shoes, used the customer service for assistance, and she was as helpful as though I was sitting in a shoe store trying on shoes. Thanks, Zappos, for the good service.

I usually don\'t wear anything but a running-type shoe, both for work and play, because of a painful foot: bunion, hammer toe, neuroma. But I work around water and chlorine bleach in a kennel environment, so I\'ve been trying for years to find a good waterproof, comfortable shoe. Love all New Balance, but something in my own chemistry or my environment makes NB Goretex trailrunners smell like a cat litter box. Tried the WW955 hoping they\'ve used a different glue, or whatever, on a hard shoe, maybe I won\'t have that annoying reaction to this shoe! Too soon to tell, but they feel great. I wish there was one more lace-hole to pull up the heel a bit, but the forefoot is nice and wide, and that\'s what counts for me. Not as chunky as a hiker, but sturdy enough for work, and they really are waterproof.

The New Balance 955 has worked out to be a good general hiking shoe with excellent support for those uneven trails. I wanted a shoe that offered stability and comfort and this NB WW955 filled the order in fine style. Oh yes, can't forget about the folks at Zappos...You deserve kudos for providing the fastest shipping service in the industry and for offering great shoe selections! Will be purchasing more shoes from Zappos soon. Sue, Bend, OR

I tried two pairs and they felt too short and narrow. Also, they rubbed at the heel. I've had other New Balance shoes in the past, and they were extremely comfortable right out of the box.

Almost but not quite; I have giant feet (12W) and these actually fit. It was nice to be able to wear girls shoes in an athletic shoe for once! However, they slipped terribly in the heel and they aggravated my plantar fasciitis.
