Had previously been wearing New Balance 882s that my podiatrist recommended. They no longer make them and I think the 883 replaces the 882. They seem to be ok, but I'm just not sure they are as comfortable or cushy as the 882 was. At the same time I got custom orthotics (that feel like concrete shoes), so that may be part of the problem. Been wearing them for several weeks and they are feeling better, just still not sure that they are same quality as old style. And, the laces won't stay tied well. All in all, they are ok.

Good fit - This shoe is a good fit for people with hammertoes - the toe box is ample.

I liked the roomy toe box but the SL-2 last was odd so had to return.

Comfy, but omg the squeaking. I wore these shoes on concrete floors and carpeted floors for 8 hours a day, five days a week, for nearly two months and they did not ever stop squeaking. Drove me completely bonkers to the point I bought a new pair of shoes (even though work shoes are supposed to last me a whole year). Other than the squeak, they were fine.

I really really like the New Balance system of shoe classification (you can find it on their website) as it has helped me find shoes that are comfortable on my hard-to-fit feet (I have high arches, skinny ankles, but a wide forefoot because of arthritis in one foot and a bunion on the other and I underpronate). Loved the 882 but the inside liner shredded after only one year--to be fair I did wear them to exercise almost every day. When the 883 came out I was encouraged by the sight of a new liner! So far the new liner has held up well but...the non-mesh part of the outside of the shoe has already cracked on BOTH SHOES and I haven't even had them a month! Very disappointing. The right shoe also had glue on the outside. These shoes also look huge on my feet. The 882s were much more attractive. Super comfy, unattractive, may fall apart! These may be my last pair of NB. :(

At first I thought this shoe would be great for my flat, problem feet and they indeed were for a few months. At that point they started stretching terribly. Within six months they stretched at least a half size larger; the material on the toe is worn off, and the material on top of the mesh on the front of the foot is broken on both shoes. This is all with just wear around the house. This has never happened to any other shoes I have owned. I normally love New Balance shoes, but the quality on these is very low. I do not recommend them unless you plan on wearing them for only a short amount of time.

I love the look of these shoes and have had good experiences with NB sneakers before, but these are terrible. After just a few games of racquetball the blue lace-holder straps all broke so the shoes can\'t be laced properly. The shoes also seemed to stretch a huge amount - at first I thought they were going to be too tight but now they\'re so loose my feet are swimming in them and they\'re affecting my game.
