I think this is a great shoe! Casual, but works well with dress slacks too! Comfortable and true to size/width. I have problem feet and have had a few surgeries. I get so tired of sneakers and the crazy sizing -- I wear 8.5 in shoes and anywhere from 9 - 10.5 in sneakers depending on the brand! Merrell runs very true to size. The 8.5 in this shoe fits like a glove. The leather is very high quality and buttery soft. I especially like the Q-form feature in this shoe. It supports the way women walk and helps keep hips, knees, and feet in a correct / healthy position. I wish there were a few more colors -- I'd get them all!

This is a wonderful, comfortable, good looking shoe! It has a nice round toe-bed, but the upper part is just a little too narrow for me to put on easily, and a little tight fitting on my foot.

This shoe is very comfy, and I can use my orthotic in it for extra support. It looks fine with black skinny pants, and adds some height as well. It's not heavy, and is well made. If you're on your feet a lot, you will appreciate the comfort and flexibility.

Great looking shoe and perfect for Michigan weather as they are waterproof but they run extremely narrow. I do have a wide foot but wear Merrell all the time. These will be returned and I only wish they came in a wide. Well worth the purchase if you don't have a wide foot - great for everything from jeans to black slacks!

I was surprised to find out how narrow these shoes run. I've worn a lot of Merrell's shoes and never tried one so narrow. I'm sad because they are lovely; but I will have to return them.

I am on my feet much of the day. I have developed plantar fasciitis; I can wear these shoes all day without my shoe inserts. Very comfortable and stable.

I was buying a replacement pair of shoes I knew I liked a lot. I got exactly what I ordered, but what amazed me was that I placed my order online in the evening, and the package was on my front porch at the end of the next day for no extra cost.

These shoes are the best! I just purchased my second pair. I bought my first pair several years ago, but wore them so much I wanted a new pair to save and wear "for good." They are comfortable, look great with jeans, and with the stretch top they fit well, even if you have one foot smaller than the other (with no additional inserts). Comfortable for bunion sufferers, too! I hope they're still around when I wear this pair out because I'd buy them again! Definitely worth the price!

Classic Merrell shoe. I order a replacement pair every year or so. I am on my feet all day and these shoes offer great support and cushioning. I highly recommend them. Can't say enough about Zappos, great customer service. Shopping online is a breeze. Keep up the great work Zappos!

What a fabulous shoe! I put them on and wore them on a long walk, and guess what? No blisters, no sore spots. It was like I had had this pair of shoes for months, and they were already broke in. I would suggest them to anyone who wants a comfortable pair of walking shoes. What a great find!

The Merrell Spire Stretch is a beautiful shoe for dress or casual wear. The Merrell quality really stands out in them. I am sad to return them, because the back of the shoe sits too high which causes them to rub. I wear a small size and have a narrow heel so some styles just do not work for me. \r\n\r\nThanks again Zappos for a great job! \r\n

I first purchased these Merrill Spire Stretch shoes several years ago and have worn them with slacks to work ever since. I love them. They are comfortable, they work well with my orthotics, they look very nice and professional for work, and they work very well for long walks -- but finally, after solid wear for a good while, they are not quite as shiny as I would like for work, so I needed to replace them. Why not replace them with the same, since they worked so well? So I did, and am very happy to have found them at Zappos.

Living in an area where it is almost 2 hours to get to a decent shopping center, Zappos is the best. The service, the ability to try something and if you don't like it, send it back, and very quickly have your account credited. I don't know how they do it! These shoes were my pick for work this summer. I will be bartending and hostessing, so I have to look nice, but will be on my feet, in and out of the kitchen, etc. Boy are these shoes comfortable, and just perfect. I can wear them under black slacks, and they really look nice. They fit true to size.Thanks Zappos!

I bought these to be my walking shoes for vacations. I wanted something that was black and nondescript that I could wear during the day with jeans and in the evening with black pants. These fit the bill. Because my feet swell a bit when I\'ve been walking I bought 1\/2 size larger than my normal size. These shoes are amazingly comfortable. I love them!

Shoes were tight at first. Thought about sending them back for 1/2 size larger, as I noticed same initial response on other reviews, but glad I didn't. Shoes have stretched out to perfect fit. Good for medium to narrow foot. Very comfortable throughout long day at work. Hardly know I am wearing shoes. Professionally attractive shoes. It may have been interesting to see if 1/2 size larger would have still been OK. Needed Band-Aids on heels and nylons only for first few days, but am able to wear thin socks now. Would definitely recommend.

These shoes are great! I bought them to try to look just a bit better at work, and these do the trick, they dress up my jeans but still have that wonderful Merrell comfort and support. Just a bit of a heel, which I like as well. The fit seems true to size.

I'm really glad I read the reviews of this shoe here, or I wouldn't have realized that once you shoehorn this shoe on (I use my fingers to do it), they fit perfectly. Otherwise I would have thought they were too small. They are very comfortable and attractive, and don't slip off in back the way some slip-on shoes do (probably a result of the shoehorn effect). They look quite dressy with pants (at least, for me, who usually wears Merrell moccasins). I have wide feet, but they didn't squeeze my toes.

Someone recommended these shoes to me as the most comfortable ever. They’d worn them all over Europe. At first I thought they were too masculine and cloddish, but bought them for comfort reasons. They are amazingly comfortable. If you wear the shoes with long pants, you only see the bottom part and it almost likes like you are wearing boots. Definitely wouldn’t wear them with anything other than long pants. Can’t beat the comfort, the fit and the great arch support.

The spire is a fabulous shoe to travel with. It looks very nice with slacks and is as comfortable but oh so much more stylish than tennis shoes! Sizing is true to size and very supportive. The cushy heel and rubber sole make this an ideal pair for wet or dry weather. Once you wear these you will wish you ordered a second pair!

This is my third pair of these shoes; obviously, I am very happy with them. I have a difficult foot to fit, narrow with a very narrow heel. They fit perfectly and are very comfortable to walk in. They look great with dress pants, or can be casual also.

I normally wear size 8 and these 8's fit perfectly. Comfortable from the time I first put them on. They look good with pants and are fairly attractive--considering I purchased them for comfort.

The shoes are really comfortable once you get your foot in. Putting them on, though, requires some effort and preferably a shoe horn. The rim is tight and the heel is a bit too rigid. As a result, I wear my new shoes to work almost every day now, my feet never get tired or uncomfortable, but I think twice if I plan to visit friends and will need to take them off and put them on again. :) Oh yeah, those shoes are truly water-proof and non-slippery. They've been tested in our wet Northwest winter. They look classy, too. I will recommend them, but not to those who like to be slipping in and out of their shoes without bending over. :)

I'm a teacher and spend most of my day standing. These shoes are extremely comfortable for standing and walking, and they look nice too. I just purchased my 2nd pair! I highly recommend them.

I love these shoes. They're smart-looking while being comfortable and giving good support. They're true to size, I think - my size is 6.5 or 7 depending on the maker, and Merrell 6.5 has always fit. These fit a little snugly, but I'm assuming they'll stretch out over the years. I wear orthotics, and the arch support is adequate.
