Not up to Merrell's Standards - I love Merrell shoes. One of the shoes I ordered was a little larger as though someone had tried and previously worn this shoe. One of the shoes had a smooth flat area on the toe as though it had been pressed against something which gave it a worn appearance. I chose to keep it as I didn't want to go to the trouble of sending it back and figured I could stretch out the tighter-fit shoe. This pair of shoes just didn't appear brand-new.

Merell's Encore Chili Stitch - Although they are comfortable and warm, which is the primary reason I bought them, after only one week the suede (nubuck) on the toes began wearing so they look like they are about 1 year old instead of 1 week old. If they hadn't been worn, I would have exchanged them for a new pair.

Sadly, not top-notch Merrell shoes anymore - I am sadly disappointed in these Merrell Mocs, Encore Chill Stitch. I ordered 7.5 medium, they are still too large, even though I wear 8 m usually. The suede wore out shiny on the toe tops in the first week since I am a preschool teacher and move about a lot. There is little arch support and not a good orthotic feel to the inner sole, so I added an inner sole from another pair of Merrell shoes to put under the wool inner sole. For this much, I could do a lot better. Too late to return these now used shoes. My first Merrell mocs were grandly fur-lined, bought in 2002 and still wear well. These feel like some rip-off. I will still wear them since I need the bottom soles for playground wear.

I am so happy with the Merrell Encore. The fit is true to size, color as expected. Living in California, I was concerned that with the lining, it may be too warm. Not so. I have found that wearing the Encore with or without socks is very comfortable. The shoe fits my hard to fit feet, on the wide side and I can wear these shoes all day. I have yet to have tired feet from these wonderful shoes. I definitely would buy Merrell again and as always Zappos is the best!
