Because I loved everything about this shoe at first I ordered a second pair. After wearing them for a few weeks to walk my dogs the shoes rubbed the back of my ankle so badly that I went to a podiatrist for the pain. I had a ganglion cyst on my right Achilles tendon and swollen tendons on my left foot from the wear and tear of this shoe on my feet. I have bought Merrell shoes for years but these were hugely disappointing. I don't recommend these shoes to anyone and have doubts that I will ever order Merrell shoes again.

These are the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. When you first put them on, they're pretty lightweight and fairly comfortable. But you can hike no more than 2 miles without them digging into the back of your ankles. I am very active, and I bought these shoes for moderate hiking. The back/heel of the shoe is designed in an arch that digs into your Achilles tendon. There is a piece of plastic supporting this arch design in the back of the shoe. I've worn these shoes not even 10 times, for hikes that never exceeded 6 miles, and this torture device piece of plastic has already dug through the fabric on the back of the shoe. They aren't waterproof or water resistant either. I wore them hiking in dewy grass and my feet were sloshing in these shoes. These were an absolutely terrible and fairly expensive purchase. I have a scar on my ankle from a hike I went on 6 months ago; and a new hole on the skin of my ankle from a hike I went on this past weekend with my ankles even taped to protect them. Do not buy these shoes.

These are the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. They the heels rode up too high and there's something sharp in both that caused terrible blisters on my last trip. 1x use and I would never put them back on again.

These are the most uncomfortable hiking shoes I've ever worn. I bought them for costa rica and there's something really sharp in the heel, which also comes up too high for me... I had blistered heels my whole trip. Definitely wouldn't recommend these to anyone. I would award negative stars if possible.

I bought these shoes last minute to hike in Kauai on my honeymoon. I thought Merrell is always a good bet for this kind of thing, but I was wrong. They rubbed the back of my foot raw on the first day. The right pair also had a bulge at the back of the shoe that made the rub on that foot especially painful. I was able to keep using them for the rest of the trip with a panty shield or paper towel protecting the back of my foot, but I am so very disappointed with this purchase. I am especially disappointed that the last minute purchase meant I had no time to return them before I had to wear them. And now, I cannot return them, having worn them.

Loved everything about this shoe except for the back of the shoe that rubs my ankle when I walk. I can actually see what looks like a piece of plastic (I assume for stability to keep it from falling in) starting to rub through the material. I wore these shoes for two weeks and couldn't get used to the pain. Now I have a red swollen bump on the back of each ankle.

I have been a Merrell customer for many years. This shoe is described as supportive and good for light hiking. It has no support for any type of walking. The sole of shoe is comfortable but after just a half mile on a dirt trail, my arches, ankles and heels were aching. Not as described in catalog. Very disappointed. Not worth the price. Maybe for half that price; just maybe.

Finally, a shoe that fits well. ! The shoes feel so comfortable and I don't have to worry about getting all those blisters whenever I run.
