I was looking for a lightweight hiker I would be comfortable in all day walking and standing - in the summer. I tried several shoes and narrowed it down to the following 3 styles which I consider very similar in fit. I will paste this review on each shoe's page. I also considered and loved Merrell Moab Ventilator in Taupe as well as the Scarpa Womens Zen lady multisport shoe. The latter had a great design and cool leather stitching detail that looked like quilted diamonds. These were very comfortable, but a little firm underfoot. I ultimately decided against these because they are leather and require special care which I just couldn't be bothered with for a summer hiking shoe. The Moab was also very comfy and I had a really hard time deciding between this and the siren, but ultimately decided the siren just a bit lighter and more flexible for summer use and just really loved the orange stripes and orange/grey shoe laces. Plus, these are waterproof which is essential in the summer. One tiny negative that other reviewers commented on and I noticed as well is that the heel is a bit loose on this style. I have a narrow heel. I have to tie the shoes very tight in order for the heel not to flap. I definitely need to wear sox with these shoes. I did not notice this problem in the other 2 models. If I had endless funds, I'd keep all 3!

There are a lot of options out there for hiking shoes, but especially if you like Merrell, there's no need to look further for a basic trail shoe. Fairly lightweight, supportive, grippy. I could use a little more arch support, but I also have very high arches. No break in required!

These are exceedingly comfortable for walking. I recently wore them on a trip to DC & had no issues walking all day. They do run a half size small so order up. They also have a funny little bump in the insole at the inside heel. I thought it may cause a problem but it did not. However, if you have sensitive feet/heels, you may want to be cautious.

I really like these sporty shoes from Merrell. I was looking for some cute, athletic type shoes to wear on short walks or playing outside with my kids. These are perfect!

I got these because I have such horrible foot issues (past torn tendon, broken toe and running injury) and can never find a shoe that is comfy, sturdy and doesn't rub/itch/chafe so I have been in the same pair of Keen's for 5 years and they are falling apart finally - I have spent 2 months trying on shoes and reading reviews and can't find one that will work. Then a friend of ours had a pair of the Ventilators on at our house and I asked him how he liked them because they looked great - I could totally see wearing them with shorts or with my work pants. He said they were super comfortable, right out of the box and fit his wide foot perfectly. Upon his recommendation I bought a pair for me and hubby. Unbelievable shoe: Super comfy, lots of support, sturdy but not stiff, lightweight (compared to my old Keen's) and I wore them for 6 hours right out of the box - no problem. Getting another pair!

Excellent and comfortable! I love these shoes, but they do run small - I had to go up a full size from a 9 to a 10. Will definitely re-purchase.

Extremely comfortable. Very good support. Ordered another pair in a different color. Excellent fit, durability, some attractive qualities, breathable and holds up to city walking. Hope to take them on a trail soon. Prefer them over my Siren Sport 2.

These shoes are so comfortable - right out of the box! I can walk anywhere in these. Great for hiking, too. Inserts will go just fine in these. I did go up one half size.

Love these shoes! Just what I needed. I have tarsal tunnel syndrome and have to have good arch support and these shoes have it. Also they have good cushion. I can be on my feet all day with no pain! Which is miraculous for me. I ordered the black pair and they are very nice looking. I'm becoming a big fan of Merrell shoes as they seem to keep foot comfort a priority.

These are great, there was no break in period and I was able to hike with nothing but comfort and support. Buy these shoes.

I was in search of a lightweight (and cute) hiking shoe for an upcoming trip. I tried the Merrell Moab, Merrell Moab Waterproof, Merrell Siren Sport 2, Teva Sky Lake, and Patagonia Drifter -- and ultimately selected the Moab Waterproof. For reference, the sizing that fit me in each were my true size of 6.5 in the Teva, 7 in all of the Merrells and 7.5 in the Patagonia. Both Moabs were the most comfortable right out of the box. They were cushioning and not stiff, not heavy feeling, despite weighing more than some of the others I tried. The Teva Sky Lake had the slimmest profile, followed by the Merrell Siren Sport. So if not being 'boxy and big' matter a lot, go for these. Both were stiff, though, and I couldn't imagine being in them all day. The Patagonia Drifter was almost as comfy and cushiony as the Moabs, but was slightly more bulky (ie, rugged). There was virtually no different between the Moab Ventilator and Moab Waterproof, even though one is 1 oz heavier. I did not have a chance to test the waterproof-ness since I needed to keep them in returnable condition. I selected the Moab Ventilator simply for aesthetics. This review won't help you with their utility since I haven't worn them outside the house, but it'll give you a comparison on fit, comfort and profile.

I am so very impressed with my new Merrell shoes, sylish, comfie and roomie! I am a housecleaner who can be on my feet sometimes for over 8 hours, who also suffers from fibromyalgia and they are perfect for the support my body needed to keep going...Very pleased and Zappos delivery was so very quick!

Comfortable right out of the box. Went hiking in Colorado the first time I wore them. Sturdy and nice looking. I did have to buy a half size bigger than I usually wear. I love these shoes.

I was looking for some light trail hiking shoes that could double as a walking shoe on the SouthWest USA rough trails. These are near perfect! The fit is great right out of the box and they are well cushioned with plenty of support. Great for trail hiking, trail walking, some rough terrain scrambling and such. A bit lacking in the sole department when the trail gets very rocky. You can feel the rocks under you. Then again, flexibility and stiffness are not really compatible. All in all a great looking, great performing shoe for light hiking, tough walking or scrambling.

These shoes were so sturdy to slip into I thought they would be stiff and uncomfortable but they were just the opposite - felt so comfortable from the moment they were put on. I plan to buy more before the style disappears!

Great shoes. My favorites of the moment. Very comfortable for walking/hiking. Great support. Airy, so feet don't get too hot.

Of course I would like to help Zappos - what a wonderful way to buy shoes. I have bought Merrell Moab Ventilator's for 5 years now...comfort, comfort, comfort.

Great shoes! I wore them on a trip to Costa Rica and they were excellent for hiking and mountain biking. Very comfortable! I needed a half size larger than normal.

I just received my Merrell Moab Ventilator shoes. I absolutely love them. I have not worn Merrell shoe before and wasn't sure how they would fit. I have one leg shorter then the other and need to wear a lift inside my left shoe, my lift is about 3/16" thick so finding shoes that fit my lift and my foot is quite a challenge and sometimes impossible. I was so pleased when I slipped my left foot into the shoe with my lift. It's very comfortable, I didn't have to push and pull the shoe to get my foot in and there is no tightness above or on the sides of my foot. Overall I am extremely happy. I hope this review helps others who may have similar issues.

Zappos extensive inventory, fast shipping and excellent customer service will have me repeating business with them for a very long time. My husband is very particular about his footwear and requires a 4E width. This is not always a stock option in stores but Zappos comes through for us. Always has, always will, period.

These are fantastic hiking shoes for warm weather! I never broke them in but started wearing them for hiking when they arrived. My husband wears his as daily shoes in addition to hiking since they are so comfortable. We highly recommend them. Mine ran a bit small so I got a half size bigger than I usually wear.

I wanted something lightweight and breathable for hiking in hot California summers. I usually get achy hot feet after any hiking, but not with these. My feet love them! Absolutely the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever worn. Merrill's are really worth the money, I have several pairs of other Merrill's that just keep on going forever. One word of warning though....on wet slippery surfaces, they have no traction...maybe that will improve as the soles get more worn in. Yay for Zappos too...you're the best!

Love these shoes, but they run short. So disappointed. I find most Merrells too short. In other brands I usually wear an 11, but these are definitely short. Not available in 11.5 or 12. Come on Merrell...give us tall women these and other great shoes in larger sizes!

I normally wouldn't write a review on a shoe unless I've worn it a few times. However, I thought it was important to let everyone know that this shoe runs small. I read some say the same and some say it fit the same as any other company. I have a narrow foot with high arches. I wear a womens 7m in Adidas, Born, Asics, Timberland, you name it and these were exactly a half size too small. I usually wear a trail running shoe for day hikes but decided to go with a hiking shoe for upcoming overnight backpacking and thought the trail running shoes wouldn't quite cut it. The inside felt great with lots of padding. The chunkiness of the soles is something I I think on the trail will come in handy unlike my trail runners which on some terrains will allow my heel to roll a bit in my shoe. The soles really grip as far as I can tell already on my tile floor unlike my trail runners. So far so good on these sturdy hiker shoes.

I only buy Merrell hikers: They fit true to size and they last for many years even with daily use. The arch support is good for me since I pronate inward. I love love love Merrells
