I bought a pair of Merrells in 2006 and wore them until they started to fall apart this year. I got these to replace them and haven't been disappointed. They're tough, felt comfortable right out of the box, and I'm expecting to wear them a lot and have them last just as long as the last pair. They might be a touch pricy, but they are worth it, because you won't be buying new ones every year.

I like the boots and the width is good, but they are too long. I think a size 9 will be perfict.

I have never been disappointed buying Merell footwear. This shoe is no exception. A break in is not required.

The best shoe I've ever bought. Very comfortable and waterproof. I work on a golf course and these boots exceeded my expectations.

As usual, I have had a great experience with Zappos. I found the Merrell shoe style I was looking for at a great price and the right size I needed. Merrells are a bit pricey at first, but they outlast any brand I have ever owned. They are great in all terrains, specially hiking in the woods on and off trails. Like a true Pepsi fan or "Heinz ketchup only" fan, Merrell is the only shoe brand for me.

I bought these boots because I have a bunion and two friends recommended them. I wore them on the Salcantay Trek in Peru. We hiked in freezing high-altitude streams for 6 hours, and my feet stayed comfortable, warm, and dry. I promised when I returned I would write a review because I can't say enough about the stamina of these boots!

Fantastic boots. I can't speak to endurance yet but my son's workmate in construction dealing with mortar swears by them. They were comfortable right out of the box and remain so. I have super wide feet, and the wides were fine, a real surprise because they usually aren't. I figured if they didn't fit the Zappos free shipping both ways would take care of that. Speaking of Zappos, there was a shipping issue with my order but they let me know what was going on the whole time. Great customer service and great price, will definitely shop here again. Bottom line don't hesitate to buy these boots, they are top notch.

A great multi-purpose boot. Very comfortable right out of the box. Fit my size 10.5 wide foot perfectly. It will be used for exercise walks in wet or slushy or snowy weather and for general around the property or around town use. Looks and feels like a very sturdy boot that will give long service. As usual Zappos is the best around for products and service.

I wear an 11D but after trying that size on in a store, I ordered a wide and it feels right.

I love these boots. They are so nice and feel sturdy, yet comfortable. I love the padding on the sides too for slipping on rocks. Unfortunately, my feet got larger or something so I could not fit in the front of the shoe, but I solved that by going to a men's 7½ size with an E width, (I wear women's 8½) these are the best all around boots.

Comfortable and easy break in. Good support. Haven't worn them in wet weather as yet so I can't comment on how waterproof they are but they should be good with the Gore-Tex lining. Very good value for the price.

These are good but not great. They look nice, keep your feet dry. But the foot bed causes several pressure points that prevents me from walking in them for long periods. I am hoping some after market arch supports will fix the problem.

I ordered these after what seemed like reading hundreds of reviews for hiking boots. I knew I wanted something relatively waterproof - these haven't given me any trouble yet. I also knew that it would be hard to find the correct sizing so I ordered a couple different pairs in different sizes. I wear a women's 12 running shoe, woman's 11 dress/regular shoe (my foot swells when running long distances)and I'd heard that Merrell sometimes runs small. I would have thought I could fit in the 10, but the 10.5 ended up fitting great! I do pull the laces pretty tight as I have a long foot, but not a wide one, which was a concern ordering a men's, but they don't make the women's in large enough sizes. Overall, the 10.5 fit well, no problems with water getting in and I've worn these not just hiking, but to work in a lawn and garden nursery for 8 hrs. a day on my feet. The only small non-issue has been fitting the tongue on the left boot so it doesn't crease where the front of my ankle bends. It's more just a small annoyance than hurting or rubbing. Thanks Merrell!

Intially ordered this in a true 10.5 D. Too tight in the ball of the foot/toes area. Ordered a 10.5 E and it was much better. I think an 11 would have just been too long. I've tried Merrell low cuts, and they're pointy in the toe.

I had a pair of Keen hiking boots, but these are my first pair of Merrell. Great walking and hiking shoes. Comfortable and lightweight. They almost feel like running shoes. They keep your feet nice and warm in the cold weather. I just came back from the snow and the shoes kept my feet dry and warm. The traction on these babies felt pretty firm. Gives you confidence on wet or rocky ground. The only downside is that maybe on warm or fair days, your feet might feel a little overheated after a brisk walk or hike. Overall, I’m very satisfied.

These boots are very comfortable and an overall great hiking boot, but if you are an avid hiker and like to get "off the trail", you should skip these. Your feet will get wet! The gortex does a good job of keeping water out if it is a nice day and you step in a puddle, but if you are out in the rain or walking through wet grass, your feet will get soaked. They are not waterproof, just water resistant. The foam outer layer gets wet and stays wet for a long time. Once home it still takes about 12 hours for them to dry. Another problem was the toe started to peel off of the shoe. They break in quickly, but they wear out just as fast. For any hiker, if you are going to spend this much, you should buy a more durable waterproof boat; these just aren’t worth the money.

I'm going backpacking in India in November and so shoes will be of paramount importance. After much research (so I thought) I chose the lightweight, waterproof, Merrell Moab Mid Gore-Tex. The first pair was too small but the next size comfortably enveloped my feet well, so I thought...until I began to walk some distance. In summary I have never had a pair of shoes that have caused me such deep, overall foot pain, and I'm not even carrying my backpack. I don't mean discomfort but deep down pain! I wear all sorts of shoes (Hush Puppies loafers, heavy English wing tips, sneakers, and cheap steel-toe work boots) and I never have pain, whether I am walking on hard surfaces or working around the farm. I never use insoles or orthotics. I discovered the Moabs have NO arch support. I purchased orthotics and that helped, but I continue to get severe foot pain after walking a few miles. You have tried to wear these shoes for over a week now. I noticed the toes on the shoes are ridiculously curled upward, there is a overly-thick lump of sole under the ball of the foot and the down-projecting front points of the heels catch hard on surfaces. I have tried four different types of socks, from thin dress socks to thick hiking socks. The pain occurs equally with all of them. I'm simply dumbfounded. I can only conclude that the culprits are the severely curled up soles at the front and the lack of any longitudinal support in the sole.

I accidentally ordered this model instead of the waterproof XCR model which looks identical. These are not waterproof at all!

This is my 5th pair of the Merrell Moab Mid Gore-Tex boots. Love them. They are my everyday shoes. I live in the mountains. They keep my feet dry in winter and summer. They aren't designed for heavy hiking, although you'd probably get a free hikes out of them. I buy them because they keep my feet dry, fit great, offer his ankle support, have his good grip when it's slick and are very cool for a waterproof product. A couple of things to be aware of:The boots only last me about 2 years before the Gore-Tex fails and the footbed degrades. Seems like a reasonable time frame, especially since these are really the only shoes I wear. As an aside, I do not recommend the non Gore-Tex version of these shoes (i.e. the less expensive, "waterproof" version). The waterproof shoe is hot as it doesn't breathe well. And it isn't very waterproof.

Service and delivery were very good. Great boots, comfortable out of box. Got them on Wednesday and left the following Sunday for Grand Canyon north rim, Zion and Bryce Canyon. Only shoes I carried and they worked great. I wear them every day for 12 hours plus with no problems.

This shoe is lightweight with great stability and traction especially on grass and wooded trails. It's fairly stiff and I would like a little more flexibility from the toe box on steeper elevations. I like the strong and stable heel support. Feels solid but doesn't tire my foot. These are perfect around the residential neighborhood I live in during the winter. Warm in the snow with a good sock even at -20F. Great in the spring tromping through mud and deep puddles. We also wear these at our local Arboretum which has grass trails mixed with windfall and a mix of sand on light hills. This is my second pair of Merrell shoes. I have used my original pair for five years and they have held together very well and are still viable. I love this brand. I wanted to try a wide from Merrell with a taller heel for deeper snow. Excellent quality, great fit. The Gore-Tex waterproofing keeps my feet dry even in water over the laces. Be prepared for a slightly different forward motion from these shoes than you might be used too. There is a pivot point over the ball of the foot that rocks forward but this aids in the efficiency and balance of the shoe in forward motion.
