Cross-trainer - I am a new assistant volleyball coach and was looking for a shoe I could wear on a regular basis and get on the court when needed. Came across a version of these in a store, but they didn't have them wide enough to fit me. Went to Zappos and found an even better product (Gel-130 TR) in the same family line in my size! They are awesome. I just love Zappos because I have extremely large and wide feet, but I can always find what I need at Zappos, and they are at my doorstep in no time! I have never been dissatisfied, so I have never had to return any thus far. And by the way, I find all shoes today say size up 1/2 or whole size, so I just always order what I have worn for years (it seems big on paper, but it fits. I am a woman of avg weight/size at 5.9", but I wear a men’s 10.5 2E. And, my shoes have to accommodate an orthotic or a Sorbothane Insole (read my review of those; will wear no other now in my athletic shoes). Thanks, Zappos!

He loves them! I ordered this shoe for my growing 15 year old son. (Must be recessive genes) He fit into this 15, 4E with his orthotics perfectly. You can't beat the prices and with free shipping both ways you're bound to find something that fits well and feels good. And I was surprised to get free upgraded overnight shipping...we are lifelong customers.

Great gym and walking shoes - These are really comfortable and not half as ugly as a lot of gym shoes out there (I recommend the black). They have good arch support and great cushioning. If these were a just a wee bit wider, they’d be perfect. I’m a woman with a pretty wide foot, so I typically buy men’s athletic shoes, but even the men’s are a bit narrow. I imagine that a man with a wider foot may want to see if these are available in wide. I anticipate that these will give a little over time, so I give them a good rating overall.

ASICS wins on wide widths - Perfect sizing, they caress my huge feet! Never had a pair of shoes fit so well right out of the box.

Great value, great cross trainer - I need bottom of the heel support/cushion, and these shoes provide excellent cushion for treadmill and light running.

One tiny caveat on these nice shoes - The support and walkability are great, but I wish I had a little more height in the toe area, for more wiggle room, and slightly more width.

Great shoes after break-in - The only problem I had was a painful rub on the knobby bone on the outside of my right ankle. After a couple weeks of use, that seems to have gone away. I use them in the gym and occasionally for walking.

Asics are great - Have found only rare problems with Asics shoes...most of the time sizing is consistent, comfort is one...they feel broken in the first time you wear them...

Big dude shoes - I am 6'6" 350 lbs. These shoes are sturdy; give good support and great on the boat, no slip, no marking decks.

Good shoe. I'm a little hard to find shoes for, being that I have a really wide foot most shoes don't even fit. Even their 4E wides. This shoe fits comfortably at 4E, the ankle rubs wrong sometimes and it's not as comfortable as my Nike Air's did. But I wanted a black shoe that fit comfortably. And this one does. Good buy. If a bit pricey.

Good Shoe - I bought the black pair to use as wrestling officiating shoes. After all day officiating my feet did not hurt. They are a good looking all black shoe that would work great with sports coaching and officiating. I really enjoy these shoes and hope they continue to do great.

I love, love, love these shoes. I bought them because of the color (who won't want a pair of purple suede shoes). The fit is true to Birkenstock and the cushion bottom was great. Very easy to break in. I wore them around the house one day, then to work the next. I don\'t wear socks in any shoes and these were fine w/or w/out socks. This was my second pair of Birkenstocks; I'll come back for more.

There is a plastic piece in the heel which rubs. I still get blister three weeks after buying and would not buy these shoes again.

A brief review of the Asics Gel-130TR - They didn't have the colors I wanted in stock and the one pair of the yellow/blue they had, tho' size 10, didn't fit right. The White/whites didn't fit in a 10 or 10.5. Ultimately I bought the red/black which are just this side of ugly, but they fit great in a 10! Go figure. Can't beat the Zappos service, that's for sure.

Leather Asics - I like the look of the shoe. I have always worn an 8 1/2 and have had several pairs of Asics. I wore them for a week with no problem and then after a long walk on the beach, the right heel side support caused a lot of discomfort. I couldn't wear the shoes for several days. I am hoping that the long walk on a sloping beach caused the problem and that after not wearing the shoe for awhile, I will be able to wear them again.

Asics Gel-130TR - I finally found a shoe that fits. Having a wider than normal foot, the selection at local retailers is less than desirable. Thanks to Zappos free shipping policy I was able to get the exact shoe for me. These shoes fit very comfortable, I weigh about 250 lbs, and the step on the heel is very "cushiony". These are my everyday shoes, so I don't know if they are too soft for the hard core runner, but they work for what I want them to do. The only negative that I can think of is that I have to wear ankle socks at a minimum (no below ankle socks) due to the uncomfortable rubbing of the shoe, but I believe that is my problem, not the shoe (angle of my ankles).

The lightning is grey / silver - and not too attractive. These shoes look like they were designed for Ace Frehley! They are startlingly silver (and unattractive). I agree with the other review mentioning the top of the upper rubbing on ankle bones - same here. I love ASICS - I hate the color of this shoe and so I'm returning it. The ASICS GEL-FX is a cross-trainer that I found to be much more comfortable - and Zappos carries it. Not as hefty a sole so it's lighter and a better choice for running. I think it has more comfortable cushioning despite the thinner sole. Leave these "Lightnings" for Ace!

Hi-Ho Silver!!!! Perhaps its the lighting, but these shoes are a bit more silver than I would thought based on the picture on the website. I guess that's the scotch 3m reflective material for night running that I’m noticing. More importantly, these shoes are simply out-of-the-box wonderful to wear. Especially in the heel, where the cushioning actually cups around the heel in a more noticeable way than other shoes I’ve previously owned. Excellent width and length. decent ventilation, but socks will always regulate any ventilation perceived. Arches are moderate, but that's all I need. I’ve worn lighter shoes, but these will be excellent for weight lifting. Will probably be just ok for a short run, but for the longer, dedicated jogs, get a run specific shoe, the bulk of these will be exposed on the longer runs. I love 'em so far. I had to return the pair of new balance mx621's I bought before these through Zappos. They were terrible, it’s a shame. Zappos rocks! Awesome return policy.

Asics Gel 130TR - This shoe looks very good. It is light and supportive, good for walking. I am big guy (6'4" 245lbs) and I walk about 4 miles a day and this shoe really feels good when I walk.

Good look, tight feel - I ordered 14 4Es and they look great. When I walk with them, they are good. The size runs a little small compared to the other shoes I have in size 14 4E. I would say it fits like a 13 1/2. Width is good, length is 1/2 size small.

Much better than New Balance – I had originally had a pair of New Balance cross training sneakers, which wore more like shoes and were heavy like shoes. The Asics are lighter than the all leather New Balances. I wear orthotics so all shoes seem smaller and narrower than without them.

Nice shoe but a little narrow - The shoe is comfortable, especially for heel support. It is a little tight and thus I have had to switch to thin socks to wear them. I like them for a quick workout, but not for everyday wear. Overall - I may purchase the same pair again, but I think I will try other comfort shoes first before making a final decision.
