Insanely uncomfortable. Had to return immediately.

As much as I have always loved Doc Martens, I do not love these shoes. They are inferior compared to the original Docs. I ordered my normal size and had to return them for a size bigger. The leather is so stiff on these they were difficult to open the clasps on the shoes. Don't buy these with the expectation that they will be anything like the original Docs from the 90's and earlier. Just a bit disappointed.

PLEASE, Dr. Martin. Please start making shoes in half-sizes. Your 8 is too big and your 7 is too tight, but I'm giving them a shot. The leather is super stiff and the buckles are impossible, but I'm desperate to make these work. Another reviewer says then will get better. My first pair (almost 30 years ago) took ages to break in, but eventually they were worth the work. I'm a week into it and they feel better. I don't think they will be my most comfortable shoes, but they might be my coolest.gl

The shoes are very cute but the sizes are way off. I ordered my standard size only to find out that they are way too big. If I put on very thick socks, they might work but I like the bare ankle look at times (don't want to be tied to thick socks when it's warm out). Also, they are extremely stiff. Just putting the shoe on is painful. Unless you are Houdini, good luck with the buckles. I had to have my husband undo and clasp the buckles because I simply couldn't budge them. Also, sizing down didn't work. My toes hit the end of the shoe. I wish Dr. Marten made half sizes (and more forgiving "leather").

I've been wanting a pair of these since I was a teenager (never mind my current age!). I was so excited to get them but when trying them on I was so disappointed that they didn't fit! I normally wear between an 8.5 and 9 in shoes (depending on the style / manufacturer), so for the UK sizing I ordered these in a 7. While the length of the shoe worked well, the heel area was so large that my foot slipped every time I took a step. I tried tightening the buckles, but even with them as tight as they'd go there was still too much room overall so my foot slipped out. The leather was very thick and didn't seem to be the same quality as other docs I've had. If I had tried to size down to accommodate for my heel, my toes would have been smashed. I don't have a narrow foot as I normally wear a M width in shoes, but these just didn't work for me. So bummed I had to send them back!

These are my second pair of Docs and got these today. I wear a us 9 1/2 - 10, got a UK 8. I have high arches and appreciate support and these fit well. I was a bit disappointed. Sadly, I agree with a prior reviewer on a few low points - Doesn't feel like a high quality leather. Actually I'm taking their word for it that this actually a leather upper. The upper edges are not rolled in and sewn around sides and the heel but are pressed or glued to the inner surface and then stitched. This seems cheap and if not for the low cut of the ides and heel back it would be digging right into every bone and tendon dow there. The buckles are not high quality - they bent (a lot) the first time I tried to undo the straps. I struggled for a couple of minutes! The buckles are narrow for the straps and this makes them difficult to undo but this may be a breaking in issue. Okay the good points - which counts for a lot. They feel good: Once I got them on, they felt very light and comfy. As I said the sides and heel are low enough to roll your ankles without touching the edges of the shoe. It is feminine but not too girly. I like the style. has a nice neutral black medium sheen. I like the wide toe box and heel. All said and done I expected more for the money but, they are comfortable and I will keep them to see how they hold up.

As soon as I put these on, they felt stiff and rubbed my heel. They went back into the box to be returned within a half hour.

The shoes have many many scratches and marks all over them

These shoes are so cute and sturdy BUT the straps are almost impossible to buckle! I had read other reviews that said the same, but I didn't want to believe them because I really wanted these shoes. It is as bad as everyone says. Fatal design flaw.

These are extremely cute and extremely painful. I know people talk about a break in period for Dr. Martens, but I’m just not prepared to endure that much pain to finally have the shoe I wished my mom would buy me in 1997. The way several layers of leather come together at the heel, combined with stiff patent leather, creates a very rigid back with a rough top edge. I have some Dr. Martens patent leather boots that didn’t give me the same pain, it’s the combination of materials and design that made this not worth it.

These shoes look darling, but I found them so uncomfortable. I could probably break them in eventually, but it would be torture- they scrape the heel and dig into the top of my foot. And they are so difficult to buckle and unbuckle. I have two other pairs of Doc boots that I could wear comfortably from Day 1, so I know some designs are just more forgiving. They looked great, but I can’t justify the blisters for the price.

These shoes are cute and I really wanted to love them but the leather is different from other Doc Martins I have owned. It’s very stiff, to the point that the buckles are impossible to use. It took me 10 minutes to unbuckle them and then much longer to actually get them buckled on my feet. I had to take breaks, lol. Very frustrating. The front top of the shoe digs into the front of my ankle when I go up and down the stairs. I know these shoes take some breaking in time, but I have no confidence that this would actually happen with these Docs. Thank you Zappos for the free returns.

Really cute but really uncomfortable

Zappos is really an amazing company and although Docs are not made in England, I still feel like they are a durable shoe. These did not work for me because of the buckles. They were impossible to open and close so I know I would not be able to get out the door fast enough with them. As for the fit, they ran a little large. I am a women's size 10 (sometimes a 9 1/2). I tend to order 9s in Docs. Zappos is always my go to. The shipping and delivery is fast and if you have an issue with the product you can even text them to work it out. They never let me down. Just to give you all an idea of what I have that are Dr. Martens.....I own the oxfords, standard boots, wingtip vegans (all unisex sizing, not lady specific shoe) and all are in size 9. It helps that I can remove the insoles too.

I love how these shoes look, so cute, but the buckles are impossible. I know they might loosen up over time and wearing but they are so hard to manipulate. I could hardly get them unbuckled just to try them on!

The leather is so stiff and I’ve been trying to break them in but they remain uncomfortable and unwearable. So disappointed because of the price and how much I wanted them.

The shoes fit and I could tell that they COULD be really comfortable, but the problem was the backs dug into my ankles so badly. I wore them for maybe 5 minutes and it destroyed my ankles. On top of that, they just looked silly. I've ALWAYS wanted a pair of these and I finally got them and they just looked silly and dug into my ankles. I was very disappointed and returned them.

I own a couple pairs of Dr Martens. First pair was bought in about 2005, and were this exact style, in the cordovan/red color. I've worn the soles out on those and figured I should replace them. However, I find these are too small now, in the same size. I'm not sure if my foot has just widened out and I've stretched my old pair out? I have a pair of Dr Marten patent boots from about 2009 that are the same size (UK 5) and while are a touch narrow, still seem to fit my feet. But these were uncomfortably small. I'm sure if I went up a whole size they'd be wide enough but would likely be too long. I did break my 5th metatarsal in the last year so that could have affected my foot width as well. I'm not sure if I'm just too much of a wimp for these now or I just don't have time for shoes that don't fit right anymore. The buckles were harder than I remembered to adjust. I wish these had fit right because there is nothing that looks quite like this shoe out there and I really like how they look. But considering how long these take to break in, I didn't want to risk them still being too narrow and hurting my bad foot, so I sent them back. Bummer :-(

These shoes are so difficult to break in. I had to send them back. They would murder my feet if I kept them! Dr. Martens didn't used to be made this way.

These shoes are plastic, with leather inside. I find the quality disappointing, particularly for the price. I returned these shoes.

Arrived with a broken buckle. We tried to have it repaired, but it broke immediately. Never worn! By the time we figured out it is unfixable, it's too late to return. Docs used to be reliable quality.

Very uncomfortable. I have tried several different style of Dr. Martens and I don't think any of them are for me.

Had a pair of these in high school and loved them, but these felt different. They were so stiff I couldn't get my foot in or unbuckle the buckles. Nearly cut my finger on the leather. Had to return. I have no idea if they fit or not.
