I’m a librarian and bought these to wear with my dress slacks instead of Clarke’s or some other “old lady” shoe. I wasn’t alive yet to wear the original 90’s version, so unlike the other reviews I don’t have anything to compare these to, other than my other pair of Docs which are the 2676 Chelsea boot. These have the same familiar doc bouncy feeling. The leather and the buckles are incredibly stiff, and the buckles are difficult to use, no lie. I’m wearing bandaids on my heels because I read the cautionary tales. I think once these break in, I’ll be happy with them for years.

These are gorgeous and sturdy. I normally wear a 9-9.5 and I ordered a size 41. They fit a little roomy but are perfect with thick socks. My only complaint is that I wish there was more arch support. I might remove the insole and add one with more support. For the frist 2 weeks it felt like there was a bubble in sole under my toes in my right shoe, eventually this went away with wear and now they are great. The back heel was also very stiff at first and difficult to break in. You don't need to undo the buckles to get in and out, I can just slip in and they still feel nice and snug as Im walking around. Im a huge fan.

Design of the inner heel support at top cuts into skin. Great shoe...but will end up getting blisters when breaking in shoe.

I purchased these as my first pair of Dr. Martens. I was afraid I wouldn't like them based on some negative reviews about them being made in China, but got them anyways. I am super happy with them as they are very cute. They have very comfortable soles but the uppers take some breaking in as the leather is stiff. I think they run just a half size large and have ample room to wear thick socks. Overall they are nice quality and rugged. I believe they will last for years.

I had these about 10 years ago & those were made in England - you can definitely tell the difference in quality. It stinks that you can look at something & tell it's been made in China. Anyway - the shoe still rocks - it actually feels a little better for my wide feet! I usually wear a size 9 because of my wide foot, but was able to pull off an 8. So glad I don't have to do the whole breaking in thing. The back would usually dig into the back of my ankle but I've been slowly stretching it out with a shoe horn - it hasn't dug in yet & I don't want it to.

Order half a size down for the right length; you'll need to unbuckle them to get them on though, I imagine that would change with wear. Probably want arch inserts if you have high arches like me. While they looked good online they were too big and clunky when I tried them on at home. I remember Docs being heavy when I wore them in high school and these were no exception. They're definitely high quality and worth the price since they'll last forever. The cute-punk look just isn't me anymore so, alas, they're going back.

These shoes are really cute, and I purchased them to replace my old pair that I wore into the ground! I ordered a size down, as the size up was too big. They are rather stiff when they arrive, and I agree it is difficult to undo the buckle but it seems to be getting easier. They feel like they are going to take some breaking in time, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that that will work, as I wore them for the first time last night and the tops of my feet were a little sore. We'll see.

This is the third pair of Dr. Martens I've owned. They are long lasting and great to wear just about anywhere. However, this pair seems to be extra hard to break in. I can typically put a pair on and wear them without pain or blisters. Right now I can only wear them for about 30 minutes and then have to take them off until the next day. This is disappointing but I hope once I get them broken in that I'll love them.

I like these shoes because they're cute, wide at the toes, have a high toe box, and are sturdy. They are also very comfortable. They look good with skirts and pants. They are very reasonably priced for a good quality shoe. On the downside, they are somewhat heavy and offer no padding or support inside. They need some breaking in as they are very stiff.

This style was too wide in the heel and yet too tight in the instep. Perhaps buckle shoes aren’t for me.

I accidentally clicked over to US sizing and clicked what I thought was UK sizing. Way too big. Nothing wrong with the shoe, just user error.

Cute shoes, but I had to return because they ran quite large. The buckles are a bit of a pain to open and close, but worth it for the look.

These fun shoes are true Docs and are a little too clunky for what I wanted. They were difficult to put on as they are very stiff (Docs again). I recommend if you have patience to undo straps each time and if you want a clunky FUN shoe.

After reading the reviews and the notes about these running large (up to one size), I decided to go a half size smaller to be cautious. Normally I wear a 7 US and ordered a 6.5 US. I found these ran a bit short in length (7 would have been good) but very wide in the heel. Since these are heavy shoes my heel slipped out even with this buckle style shoe.

I own several pairs of Docs boots, shoes, and sandals. I always wear a UK 8. Because Docs run a little wider than US shoes, they've always fit my wide foot. These are so narrow I can't even get them on, so my ratings for comfort and arch support are fake, since they make you select something.

Too big and the middle strap across the top hurt my foot. I have a pair of Maryjane docs from 20 years ago that I love. They don’t have the middle strap, and are cuter.

The size is a little big, and I’ve been an EU39 since middle school, the shoe is just cut slightly large and feels a little clownish. I used the Apple Pay feature and now Zappos can’t find the transaction to issue a refund. List of $150 for me.

Loved the look. Hated the stiffness. Also, they came up too high on the back of the foot, so when I tried them for an hour in the house, with socks, they gave me a blister. It’s possible they would have softened with wear, but the way they hit my foot was a dealbreaker. I wish they would have worked. Super cute and the chunky look is great with sweaters and coats for the colder seasons.

Where do I begin with these shoes? Well, first of all I like the look and the style of them. The detailing on the toe box area is nice and I like the double buckles featured on the shoe. The non-slip sole is also nice and the shoe feels sturdy. However, the cons outweighed the pros. Some things I didn't like: the quality of the leather. The leather is very stiff and almost plastic like. Compared to other leather shoes I own these are outright stiff; and I do understand leather shoes do require a break-in period but these were unbearable. These trashed my feet and ankles after wearing them for a full 8 hour day walking around, with thick socks. I know Docs are known for going through a hellish break-in period but, really, it feels unnecessary (compared to the MIE versions). Secondly, the straps are impossible to undo/get loose. I had to really force them to come undone. I ended up bending the straps to stretch them out to make them a bit easier but it was still a bit of work. Also, the top of the shoe where the straps thread through kinda dug into the top of my foot. Lastly, the sizing. I know Docs don't make half sizes but I wish they did. I am a 6.5 US and the UK 4 (US 6) was still a bit long on for me; maybe a size down would've been better. Width wise, they were fine - not too narrow or wide. Wish I could've made these work for me. It's also unfortunate that Dr. Martens doesn't make these in their Made in England series, otherwise I would pay more to buy those with better materials instead of these (made in China).
