This was my first Zappos purchase as well as my first Dr. Martens. First let me say that one word covers the Zappo experience, and that is EXCELLENT. Comment on my Zappos experience, excellent. The Docs fit true to size and felt perfect from the first time I put them on. No break in period needed with these shoes at all.

Dr. Martens -
My husband loves these boots; he wore them when he went to Iraq for a year. And now he is in the oilfield business and these are the only ones he ever asks for, comfortable, waterproof and steel toe, and non skid...

I’ve got a foot that is wide at the toes and narrower at the mid and rear foot, so the toe box on these is fine but it’s already getting hard to cinch down the mid foot. 2nd week of wearing them all day, every day and they’re finally starting to break in. The forefoot was particularly uncomfortable, I think because the heel is elevated inside the boot. Would also be more comfortable if I could transfer some of the padding from the tongue to the back of the boot. I had to ride to work in the rain yesterday and when the boots finally dried out, there were white residue marks all over it. They’re not bad for a full day of riding and then tromping around indoors, but they already look months old after only a couple weeks of easy use.

These are one of the best pairs of boots that I have owned. They are a little heavy but the payoff is worth it. The extra padding around the ankles and the part where you put your foot in is a lifesaver, way better than most Docs for comfort at work. The soles are wearing faster that I hoped, but I do have a tendency to walk around in some pretty nasty spilled chemicals at work. I would really only recommend these for work. If you are looking for style, check out some of the other Docs around the site.

These seem like decent boots so far. I wore Docs when I was younger and these seem every bit as well made and comfortable. I had been wearing Magnum brand protected toe leather work boots but while very comfortable they were only lasting about eight months per pair before the sole would start separating from the upper. These boots seem to be basically as comfortable, my biggest complaint is that they weigh about double what the Magnums do. They would be perfect if they were offered with a protected but not steel toe.

It seems like a good work boot, however they are a slight pain in the you-know-what to lace. But once they are laced up, they seem fine. They are also a little heavier than your average steel toed boot.

Good fitting and comfortable boots. Great for motorcycle riding. Provides good cushion while riding and also comfortable to walk in although they are a bit heavy.

The first pair I bought was called the Grizzly. That pair was much better quality. This new pair was coming apart on top, the stitching was coming loose. I would not buy another pair. I purchased the Keen Pittsburgh Steel Toe and I love them.

Love the style!
Needed a steel toe for work and this looked great!
I wish they would have fit me well but that wasn't the case. The steel toe was not as wide as I imagined so it bothered me and the height of the boot bothered me two days after I wore the shoe.
As I said, I wish it would have been a great shoe because of how great it looks but unfortunately this was a no-no!

This boot is very well made, but it is heavy. The loops on the top of the boot make it hard to put on. Also, it makes it harder to get the boot tightened up. The soles add about an inch to your height. I am a tall man, so I don't really need that. They are comfortable to walk in.

Something changed -
In my line of work I depend on a good strong, steel toed boot with lots of support. Jumping in and out of a delivery truck all day can be hard on footware. The Dr Martens I've gotten in the past have always lived up to the challenge. The 8555 were excellent, but alas Zappos no longer has them. So I thought I'd give these a try. Well... When I first put them on the fit great! But by the end of the day, My feet were getting sore, where the front toe seam is just below the laces.
So my first thought was that they needed a break in period. Well it’s been two weeks that I've been trying to break these in, adjusting the laces several different ways, constantly adjusting the tongue. I just can't seem to get comfortable in them. With one foot or the other I seem to have some pain where the bottom of the laces meet the toe of the shoe. These were the same size Dr Martens I've been buying for years.
Bottom line, Dr. Martens have always been great in the past, but this pair, didn't live up to my expectations. I know I won't buy this style again. Hope this helps.

If you plan on wearing them for work, save your money. The sole held up well but all the stitching has come apart. The toe is very cramped. I've replaced the laces at least 4 times in a year because the eyelets keep cutting the laces.

I am a Dr. Martens fan and have several other Martens, however these boots were a disappointment. Dr. Martens comfort and great arch and foot support. The cool Martens look and style were present as well. These only comes in full sizes, if like me you normally wear size 10½, the only option is size 11. Also these boots are heavy. They also have a very short longevity, my pair lasted less than six months before the soles started to separate and the bottoms wore down to mere fractions of an inch.

First off I work at a mine, so if you're looking for steel toed shoes pass these up. They don't stand up to the weather conditions and getting on & off equipment. A little water, ice, or dust, and they become very slick. For those of you who do not work at a mine: These are very clunky steel toes. I know steel toes are heavier but these seem to be heavier in the toes than other steel toed shoes I've owned. If you walk in mud you can pound & beat these shoes until you're blue in the face but the soles never release all the mud. Once you put them back on then all the mud comes out of the soles, you end up following yourself around the house with a broom. Even though they say that they're sold in women's size you're actually getting a man's boot. They just figure the sizes different for women. Men and women's feet are completely different. I wouldn't recommend these period unless you're looking for a door stop or paper weight.

I have large, wide feet (US14 EEEE). I have been buying Dr. Martens for 10+years now. Always with some sort of insole to fix the fit, or deal with a less than perfect fit. I never buy online because it 99.9% of the time I send them back. These Ironbridge Docs are amazing! Right out of the box they fit! I have never in all my life had this happen! Very happy customer here.

Mine lasted 7 months then the sole started to rip from the boot at the arches. Very comfortable though.

Beautiful boots; they look great, fit is workable and they're warm and super comfortable when sitting. I read the review left by Chris from the Dirty (Jersey) and the fatigue is real! At an RCH (kids, don't Google that) under 2.5lbs per boot, these are some monsters. Thanks to Chris's whining, I knew what I was in for and am very happy with the purchase.

Hi! I have worn Doc’s in the past and loved them so when I saw that they made Work books I was very excited. Well the love is gone. They look great and they are made really well but they are so heavy. It adds a lot of extra fatigue at the end of the day and never have my feet really hurt and I am on them all day everyday but with these boots my feet are killing me. Like actual pain. Sadly I would suggest picking another boot if you are in the market.

These were comfortable in the store but after a few hours at work not so good. even after plenty of break in which i did not feel they needed these are horrible as work boots. Apparently there is no shank in them for support. They are very nice looking boots and fairly comfy for short periods of time. I call them part time boots but I have a full time job so I won't be wearing them to work anymore.

I have owned and worn these boots for five months. They were broken in within a week and are comfortable to wear all day. However, the sole has not lasted nearly as long as I had hoped. The heel of the boot has worn almost to whatever substructure is underneath it. It was the last thing I was concerned about considering the thickness of the heel. All in all, great on style, but very expensive for a pair of boots that doesn't last half a year won't cut it.

Rather disappointed in the quality of the Docs this time. This is the 5th pair of Docs I have bought from Zappos in the last 5 years and the only pair that has not performed well. The only difference between this pair and my previous ones is the color. Maybe they were made at a different factory or something. 1. The leather does not hold up nearly as well as my standard black boots as they scuff and scar very easily. 2. The sole has cracked and split open on the side about 3" long. 3. The material in the toe area has come loose in both boots, falling out in pieces. Strange that the same boots 1 and 2 years older are in better shape still. I do not wear these in any type of labor job as they are just worn as casual boots. Might rethink my next purchase.
