I recently purchased a pair of these boots and have walked quite a few miles. They are comfortable and seem to be well made. I wear 4E widths and these seem a little narrower than some, but they work. The padding around the tops rubs a little, but not as bad as some other boots. I was able to put them on and hike right away, without any blisters or sore spots. I like these and hope that I can replace these with another pair of the same. 4E boots are hard to come by.

First, I have extremely wide feet (if you know what polydactyly is, you may know why!) and wear size 9.5 4E in running shoes. For years I tried to make do with whatever 'sort of wide' hiking boots (e.g., Danners, Merrells) I could find randomly on sale, and failed. I finally decided to just suck it up and find a pair of hiking boots that fit well regardless of price. Enter Zappos! I ordered five different pairs of boots to try, all 2E or 4E, and no big surprise, the 4E MO1500s felt the best out of the box. After a 13 mile out-and-back hike in the Uintas and an all-downhill jaunt from Snowbird's Hidden Peak, I can safely say these boots are the most comfortable I have ever worn. No blisters, no intolerable pressure points over time, no lost circulation! Will see how they hold up, but honestly that's less of an issue for me than just finding a boot that fits comfortably. By the way, complaints about the one-sided tongue gusset are ridiculous - it's been fine for me. Last thing: Love the toe bumper.
I'd also recommend:
If you don\'t need an extreme width, Vasgue 2E boots seem decent.

It's hard to find a hiking boot for my husband. His feet are EEE. No one had them. I have been looking for a good boot for years. When I saw Good Morning America one Sunday, zappos.com company came up. I was so impressed I tried them. The employees there are fantastic. They helped me find the right shoe and got it to me in time for our vacation. I love this web site.

Have only had the boots out once on a short 5 mile hike, but felt great right out of the box. I have a hard time finding boots. 4E widths are hard to come by. I border on 5E, but these boots are perfect in width. I would definitely recommend them to anyone planning to do a little boulder hopping. The sole is stiff enough that you can step on the points of rocks without getting sore feet.

Boot fits true to size. It is a very rugged boot, and appears to be well made. It has a lot of lateral stiffness, even more than you would expect from this style, which is excellent for the rocky terrain up here on the north shore. I am very pleased with this boot. I expect it to do very well as a heavy duty hiking and backpacking boot. Can't wait to try it out in the BWCAW and Isle Royale this summer.

These are the best wide-width hiking boots I have ever owned. I still wish they were a little roomier, like my new Balance 4-E cross trainers are. I have tried on every other hiking boot out there by every manufacturer. I even tried on the softer hiking boot made by New Balance, hoping they would be roomier. For you folks with wide feet, this is the best there is for a comfortable wide-width hiking boot.

I am so pleased with the boots I purchased. I have a unique problem, I have narrow feet. I was afraid the orthotics would not be compatible with the shoe because of all the leg pain. I needed to take out any arch support, so that the orthotics would truly work. I thought I would take a chance, what’s to lose? I am so glad I did. Can’t wait to look around for another narrow width shoe.
I'd also recommend:
Look at all brands-especially New Balance.

This boot was wonderful. Snug with good ankle support. Really came in handy this winter shoveling snow, walk around in slush, and keep me warm. I had originally planned to use it hiking in Alaska this spring, but it got good early use. The laces are a bit gimmicky, but no big deal and a plus for some people I suppose. I might just pick up another pair of these...

Great boots! They do seem to run narrow. I usually wear a EE width in boots, but I had to go up to a EEEE in these. Yes, the gusset is a bit different, but I haven't had any problems with it. As all good hiking boots require you have to break them in. They are comfortable and very supportive. I think these are the stickiest Vibram soles I've seen in a hiking boot. Great traction.

My husband, son and I do a great deal of camping and hiking. When my 13 year old grew into a size 15 shoe I didn't know where to turn. Then I found Zappos. We have always been fans of New Balance but these hiking boots went beyond our expectations! The fit is true to size, the comfort is wonderful (even for a fussy 13 year old) and the warmth and waterproofing from the Gore-Tex is unmatchable. These are a light weight boot and doesn't drag you down when doing excessive walking even thru mud or snow. These are so well made I will be purchasing a pair for myself and my husband too! Zappos makes ordering a snap and unlike other companies they offer free, next day shipping. Finding this company was a dream come true! No one else will get our business!

Great winter hiking boots. Warm and dry. Excellent ankle support. Excellent traction. Seems very well made overall. After a few days break-in, they fit like gloves. I didn’t have any problems with adjusting to the one-sided tongue.

Unfortunately, this last doesn't work for me. I've got a broad forefoot and these are too tight across the top of the foot without locking down my heel. The only NB last that does work for me is the SL-2. That said, this is an excellent boot: the half-gusset is a little odd & the eyelets a little gimmicky, but the MO1500's are lightweight, well constructed, and with a usefully aggressive tread. I'm stuck with Keen Targas, which are less well-constructed and don't have nearly as grippy a tread, but do fit my foot shape. If NB offered these on an SL-2 last, I'd snap them up in a second.

The boots are great, maybe a tad wider than I’d hoped, but I also know my foot width is narrower than the advertised B. Used them for doing driveway shoveling and snowthrowing, they kept my feet dry and warm. Like other have said, the tongue takes some getting used to but, I found no problems with them. I got them because of my narrow foot and they have been ideal for this winter’s weather and would recommend them for home tasks, can’t answer about actual hiking.

When visiting my niece in Nye, Montana, I would take walks everyday with her on dirt roads up small mountains. It was almost impossible to do. We ordered a pair of New Balance Hiking Boots, and what a tremendous difference. They took to the path like a tire with chains. They are warm and so comfortable. Also, they came in two days. I wish I had heard about Zappos a long time ago.

For my situation the shoe is perfect. Very comfortable, good support. I feel it would be a great shoe for a nice mountain walk, which is what it is designed for, but I use them on concrete. I use inserts, have a very narrow, long flat foot, and I really like these shoes.

Having extra wide feet, it is a challenge finding shoes to fit, so I am not a stranger to New Balance. Though comfortable, they tend to wear fast. These shoes were a pleasant surprise for me. They are tough, built like a tank, yet very comfortable and surprisingly light. I have not hit the trail with them yet, but I know they will fill my needs.

I ordered these boots as a Birthday gift for my son. There was no shipping fee, and they arrived quickly, right when they said they would. He loves them! He has wide feet, and these came in wide, and they are very comfortable and warm. I would recommend Zappos to anyone!

I love these shoes! I wear a 13B, narrow. Can't find shoes like this in the store (other than New Balance) and even if a local store will order, I get stuck if the shoe does not fit or I don't like the look. Zappos is great. Better price than the store, free shipping, no hassle return if they are not to my liking or fit. I can't be happier. Waterproof and comfortable, kept me dry and happy at a rainy football field last Friday. Awesome!

Great outdoor shoe by NB. Outdoor ready; but tennis/running shoe feel. Great! I have a normal/medium foot width; but ordered a wide. Glad I did. If you use for outdoor use with thick socks, a regular width may be too narrow and tight.

These boots were excellent I recently took them on a hiking trip and they were comfortable, didn't rub my feet and kept my feet dry. My only complaint is that the lacing system is a little awkward and if you do not get them laced tightly enough they will come unlaced at the top.

Great boots. I did what everyone says NOT to do and wore these out of the box, first time, on a 4 day rim-to-rim backpacking trip across Grand Canyon. 42 lb pack, hard downhill and uphill grades, HOT, uneven terrain, and came back without a single blister and very happy feet. I chose these by putting a lot of stock into the Backpacker Magazine Editor's choice rating and the fact that as an avid tennis player New Balance has always made my feet feel great after a pounding on the court. I got the EE width and wore liners and thick hiking socks and had no side rubbing. I could vary the fit for up or downhill by lacing tighter or lower as necessary. Through mud and immersion stream crossings, totally dry. Only con may be they come up a bit higher than some boots which adds great stability, but did cause bruising of the outside of my legs 3 or 4 inches above the ankle, but I attribute that to not breaking them in prior to hiking.

My comment on the boot tongue is that it is different. Only one side is gusseted. Strange at first but opens up as the boots break in. Although tight when putting the boots on there is no compromise while wearing the boot. All the internal padding begins to lay down as the boot breaks in. Like all supportive boots I’ve had they are a bit stiff when new. But that is why we buy them to protect our ankles. I learned a long time ago to pre stress the bending areas with my hands. I’ll do it while watching television. Helps a lot and makes break in a lot shorter. A month and two hikes later the boots feel great. I would gladly buy another pair.

I live in the boondocks and have very wide feet which are almost impossible to fit. These boots fit like they were made for me. Very comfortable from the start. And the service is outstanding. Important for me since I have no convenient shopping.

Great Boots - These boots are remarkably comfortable right out of the box. They fit my narrow feet perfectly. The only drawback is the "speed laces," which are anything but.

Good Winter Boot - I bought these boots because of an impending ice and snow storm. They served me well...kept my feet dry and warm. The unusual tongue design of being permanently attached on one side makes for a waterproof boot. The boot was more comfortable than my last two mass-market pairs and I will take them to Alaska this spring for a bit of hiking and touring.
