I have never, ever written an online review before but felt this coat definitely deserved it! I live in Minnesota. Needless to say, I need a warm, stylish coat for the winters here. This NF is everything I hoped for and it's very warm without being bulky or masculine looking. Nice deep side pockets with zippers, and a deep hood for those windy days. I bought the graphite gray and couldn't be more pleased; it's a nice change from black (which is my standby!). I'm 5'11 and 150 lbs with long arms. The large fits perfectly. And Zappos rocks. Overnight free shipping and amazing customer service. I love it!

I absolutley love this coat! It provides warmth, without weight or bulkiness. This coat will be worn for years.

Just received this coat today - ZAPPOS ROCKS! Got it the very next business day! As I haven't had time to really test this baby out, I'll just review my initial thoughts and then come back and review the functionality later. Firstly, I ordered the Medium after reading ALL of the reviews. I've put on some weight since last year (boo!) and my old winter coat, which is a very slender-cut trench, won't fit me anymore. I wanted something VERY WARM for our harsh winters; something that lets me layer clothes underneath, yet is not too bulky for walking around the city. Something with a hood. Also, note that I'm a petite 5'3 and very curvy (130 lbs - mostly chest and hips). The Medium is a very good fit! Hooray! I can wear a sweater underneath and still be extremely comfortable. This coat is very warm and cozy. It allows you to move easily, not constrictive at all. The only con is that, from a profile view, it looks little "poofy" in both the stomach and lower back area. But that's such a minor thing...not a big deal at all. The hood is perfect - nice and deep. The zipper pockets are great. I think I'm going to love this coat. I hope it truly is wind and water resistant. We'll see!

This coat is the best fitting down coat ever! I am 5'6, 118lbs and the small fits great. Never have I had a down coat that can still reveal my slim figure! Was thrilled to get this coat in Brown which looks less harsh than Black with my blonde hair and fair coloring (and everyone has Black). Love the Brown. Keeps me warm through the cold outdoor Packer games!

Great jacket for winter in the North! The length hits right at the knee, which keeps you from feeling restricted when walking around. The hood is nice and deep and the pockets are great! Well worth the investment!

Bought this coat in ivory a few years ago but didn't realize it was the same coat until it arrived. The ivory is great looking but after one wearing really shows soil lines at cuffs and collar and has to be washed. This time I ordered the Swamp Green. Nice color and no problem with soil marks! The coat is lightweight but warm (perfect for our midwest winters) and is a good length. I freeze wearing short coats in the winter & ordered this because it was almost knee length. Also has a nice form fit but isn't tight. I'd recommend this coat in a minute!

I have wanted this coat for two years now and hesitated because I was worried it wouldn't fit me right. I am 5'8" and wear a size 14/16 and based on some reviews, feared the XL would be too tight through the hips. Well, let me tell you, it fits awesome!! In fact I can actually say that I have a little extra room in the XL. This is such a stylish coat and warm, yet unbelievably lightweight! The little strip of flannel lining along the inside part of the sleeves that protect your wrists is pretty innovative also.

This is a fabulous coat. With a slim style, light and warm. I don't feel like I am wearing a sleeping bag. Love the snaps for fast easy use. The zipper will be great when the wind chill drops. The fabric is high quality, and the sleeves have a soft lining at the cuff. Zipper pockets, so keys and gloves stay put. Just love, love, love this coat. Looking forward to a toasty Warm and stylish winter!

Spectacular doesn't say enough!! I needed a coat for working during winter in Europe. Since my home climate is temperate I had no experience and was quite nervous about being cold. It turns out that as long as I had this coat plus insulated boots, a scarf and umbrella I was toasty all winter, and in fact, enjoyed the weather! It has an amazing ability to keep you warm in snow, wind, whatever and then adjust when you move indoors so I wasn't too hot. Looks good, great material which doesn't show wear but wipes easily if you spill. I know because I wore it pretty much constantly for months and it still looks good as new. Fabulously warm hood, nice collar when hood is off, great pockets, packs down very small with a compression sack for travel. I could stuff it in my tote bag and it popped out looking great. I'd say it was worth it's weight in gold, but it doesn't weigh much at all!

I wanted this coat for a full year before I went ahead and took the plunge. I have been looking high and low for a blue down coat, which is hard to find! When I purchased this North Face I also added a Patagonia coat to my cart for comparison's sake. Well, I ended up keeping the Patagonia and returning this one. First, the navy is so dark that it looks almost black. Secondly, the pockets on this coat are not lined with cozy fleece like many others were. The deciding factor for me though was the size and fit of the hood and the chin area when completely zipped -- the hood didn't feel like it would keep me warm and dry unless I pulled the strings totally closed, and then it wasn't comfortable. I did like the buttons in addition to the zipper, but that wasn't enough to convince me to keep it. I can't believe I lusted after this coat for a year and ended up returning it, but it wasn't what I was expecting, especially for the price and the comparable options out there.

Great coat! I love the gray color because it seems every person in Minnesota has a long black coat, and this color shows less dirt. The coat is very warm when I am outside, but somehow when I am driving in my warmed-up car I don't feel overheated.

I liked this coat except that there is no inner sleeve to keep cold air from going up your arms. I suppose a long glove would do the trick. I also bought an extra large because I heard it is a fitted coat, but the xl was too large, so I'd say that the coat runs true to size.

Sporty, chic, urban look. Very comfortable. Great fit (small) for my 5'2", 118lb frame, especially sleeve length. Coat is a great length, very put together with a cute hat & boots. Overall, great coat. Improvements...line the back of the pockets (they are just nylon lining and cold), and the down in the seat and back area get very compressed after sitting, driving, etc and can be a bit of a cold spot. I do really like this coat...top ten percent of best coat ever and Zappos is #1 for customer service. Thank you Zappos!

Fabric is too crinkly to my liking. A little tight in the shoulders with a heavier sweater underneath. I would have kept it if I'd liked the fabric better. The brown is pretty.

The color is great shiny with very light greyish white. It is big. I usually fit XS. And still I need to go down one more size. Will you please have XXS? I am still deciding to go to the alterator or exchange for another North Face?

It looks better on me than any other down jackets. It's lightweight and comfortable. Mine is red. It has too little down inside so the arms feel cold in less than 5 minutes under 28F. Not a good jacket for really cold weather.

Too thin and feels cheap. Not worth the price. I'm surprised at all the good reviews. I also sized down and that was a mistake. If you want a thin, light-weight coat for the fall that has a North Face logo, then buy it. Otherwise, skip this one.

Highly recommend this parka! Keeps me nice and warm! Great for Ohio's unpredictable weather! Zappos has the best price by far.

This is the most comfortable coat. It keeps me very warm during the freezing midwest winters. It flatters shapes better than most other coats, I will keep this for a few more winters.

I love this jacket! I live in NYC and NH. This is the perfect jacket for both places. It's very warm and lightweight. Arm length is slightly longer than usual but works well for me.

Very nice coat. The price is very cheap. I am tall and the coat fit me perfect, size L Always has a hard time buying coats and sending them back. That's why I love this coat.

I have been eyeing the North Face Metropolis for 2 years and when it went on sale I bought it in gray (it matches my car, yeah). I live in the midwest and we get pretty cold weather. The coat is fabulous and is quite warm even though it doesn't look it. It is not bulky and it has all the features that you look for - an inside pocket, adaptable hood, double zips, and two great front pockets. I am pleased with this purchase and of course Zappos extraordinary service and delivery.

I bought this coat to wear during my commute. I have to walk a mile to work in the Chicago winter. This coat is great. It breathes very well so that you don't get overheated, but it also keeps you warm. Although, on really cold days I do have to throw a fleece on underneath for extra warmth. It's stylish and not overly bulky (the people on the train thank me for that). The 2-way zipper is great, but it does stick sometimes. My only other complaint is that feathers have started coming out. Not a whole lot, but enough that I get annoyed. I'm 5'3 and 120lbs. I bought a small and there is enough room for a fleece or a sweater underneath. I think the medium would have been too big.

I have ordered from Zappos a couple times and both times I have been very satisfied the coats I ordered are great and they were here so fast it was great. I will always look at Zappos first when I'm looking for something online.

I love this coat. It's so warm and looks great on. Even more importantly, it's extremely comfortable and very light. There is nothing worse than lugging your winter coat around while shopping. With this coat, you hardly notice. I love the material also -- I never need to worry about lint or dog hair sticking to it. I do agree with some of the other reviews I read that the zipper can be tricky. But, I think that is the case with all double-zippers. I don't think it's any worse than any other double-zipper coat I've owned. I have no regrets about purchasing this coat -- worth every penny!
