This coat hasn't really been weather-tested for me yet since it hasn't gotten that cold here, but I really like it so far. Unlike my pea coat, it keeps me warm but doesn't roast me when I wear it on days that are sort of chilly in the morning, but warm up later in the day. It's very lightweight, fits comfortably, and I like where it hits me lengthwise right above the knee. I don't like waist-length coats when it gets really cold. The pockets are deep and zippered so I hopefully won't lose my gloves this year. The coat has a very basic but clean look. I don't feel super puffy in it, like the Michelin man or something. I got the XL because I'm about 5'8" and about 190 lbs and it fits perfectly.

Absolutely love this coat! Very warm without being bulky. I've gotten many compliments on it's style. The fit is perfect! I'm glad I spent the extra money for a quality made coat that I will have for years! Bring it on MI winter!

I had wanted this jacket for about two years, but was extremely hesitant on purchasing it due to the price! I finally gave in this weekend, when I saw that it was on sale and fell in love with the gray color. I live in Massachusetts and the winters are really brutal. I ordered the jacket on Sunday, and received it on Tuesday - just in time for some cold weather. I absolutely love it. It is lightweight, but keeps you toasty warm. In addition, it is long and covers your back to ensure that the wind doesn't creep up! It also is fitted and doesn't make you look like a huge marshmallow (which no women want!). I am 5'1 and about 120 pounds and ordered a small and it fits perfect with plenty of room for layering. Although I am petite, it still fits great and is probably even longer than it should be! I would absolutely recommend this jacket to anyone who lives in a frigid cold state! It will help you happily survive the winter! Even if you are hesitant on the price, just try it and you will see that it is worth the cost!

I got this coat for my daughter who is a freshman in college. She loves it! It is very warm and comfortable, but not too bulky. She is about 5'5, athletic/slim build, and the medium fits her perfectly. It is loose enough to wear a sweater under.

I ordered an XXL based on TNF's size chart (only available for XXL on their website, not here for some reason) and it's a bit too big. I wear a size 18 dress/pants and XL top normally and was in the middle of the measurements listed for this size, yet it's too big. I was able to try an XL on in a store and it fits much better in the sleeves & upper body and is a little tiny bit snug across my hips. But I'd rather have it fit snug & warm than big & loose. Great coat, great length (knee caps on my 5'5" self), feels very warm. Ended up exchanging the XXL for an XL.

I think this coat is great, but, not as fitted (I bought a small) as on the model. Very lightweight but warm.

I absolutely love this coat! It was well worth the money and I am very happy that I decided to finally buy it! I had waited a while but this winter the coat I was wearing finally took a turn for the worse and needed replaced. Overall, I would definitely recommend this coat if you are looking for something very warm yet stylish.

My North Face Metropolis parka came the day after I ordered it and I was so happy because the winter weather took a turn for the worst. The size fits perfectly and it is toasty warm. I love how there is a double zipper where you can unzip it from the bottom when you need to. I usually keep it zipped up as it is easy yo drive and keep my entire torso warm and I don't look like a large polar bear. It fits nicely and I get a lot of compliments!

I have been wanting a down coat for a while, but could not find what I was looking for in length/color. I ultimately found this North Face. I was skeptical because it is so light weight - I was wrong. NYC has been hammered with snow and cold weather for the entire month of January, and I was toasty warm. It is a great coat. I am now on the lookout for the longer version (if one exists). You cannot go wrong choosing this coat; it's got everything you'd want to stay warm during those brutal days of winter.

I love this coat - it is so warm and lightweight. The only thing I don't like is the zipper - it's always a struggle to get it to latch.

I love my winter coat! It is very light, fits according to its size and just as warm as it should be. I am very satisfied with my purchase. The only thing is, if you are getting the coat in Moonlight Ivory, be ready to wash it every two weeks or so because it gets very dirty pretty fast. I guess it is just what you get for the fresh look of light color. It is worth it though. Thank you Zappos!

I agree with everyone else and gave this coat 5 stars. It isn't as lightweight as the East Village jacket, having less fill down, but it does have the hood, and a great zippered pocket inside. I am 5"4" 115 lbs. and it comes down to the top of my knees. I got the medium, because that was all that was left; and since I like to wear suits and layers indoors, it fits me fine.

Very nice fitting jacket. I am usually a size 6 - 8 and I bought a size small in this jacket. It fits perfect. The sleeves are a little shorter than I normally like, but they work nicely with gloves. This jacket was thin yet it kept me warm walking around a cold ski resort. Even with the small, I could layer with a fleece.

Great coat! I have the Patagonia downtown loft jacket and like that one a lot, but winter 2010 has me wanting something a little longer to keep the wind off my legs, and this parka is a great length. Long enough for that extra protection, not so long as to be matronly. As others have mentioned, it's hard to describe how light this coat feels, and yet how much warmth and protection it provides. It really feels almost weightless, somehow. It's nice to have the option of snaps as well as the zipper, and overall, the coat is really comfy. I do notice the chest area being a little tight in contrast to the rest of the coat, which is pretty boxy. It's not a monstrously big cut, but not as slim a shape as a chevron cut would be. The hood sticks out a fair amount - can't really get it to settle down, but it's also long enough that it can actually function as a hood. The pockets are also functional and well placed. It would be nice if they had a bit of fleece lining on the edge like some other parkas do, but other than that they are deep enough for gloves, car keys, etc. The internal pockets are a nice touch. Finally, the color is fun and unique. My default is always to go for black but the reviews of the swamp green swayed me, and I'm happy they did. It's a really subtle color - almost black with a sheen of dark green/earth brown. Sounds ugly, but it isn't! Overall, a great purchase!

I love this coat because I can use it with a short skirt or just a pair of jeans. It’s warm and toasty... perfect for Chicago winters. Sometimes I look down and realize I haven’t taken off the coat after being home for 15 minutes... it’s that comfortable!

If you purchase this coat, you won't be sorry. I found this coat to be one of my all-time best purchases! If you enjoy a lightweight but warm coat that goes from work to play, this is the one for you. I live in a cold climate and even on subzero windchill days, this coat and hood kept me warm and snug. Extremely well made with even a small pocket on the inside of the coat for my Ipod and earplug jack to thread through and a hook inside my pocket for a key, I am a very happy customer. And, Zappos made it very easy for me to purchase this coat too with great customer service.

Zappos has unbelievable service. I ordered the coat one evening and it was at our doorstep the next day. Also, although we didn't need to, we had the ability to return our purchase with free shipping. I will check Zappos site from now on when I am ordering online. The coat is perfect. I bought it for my daughter in VA and it is just what she needed. I am very, very happy with this purchase. My only complaint is that I wanted to buy another one and there were no small sizes left.

I am very happy with the parka overall. It is very well made, comfortable and also stylish. It is warm although on very cold days, I still need an extra layer underneath.

This is the winter coat I didn't know I desperately needed. I had no idea it was possible to be this warm and comfortable in such frigid weather. This parka is figure-flattering, extremely lightweight, and incredibly warm. I was pleasantly surprised to find a fleece lining on the inside of the sleeves that covers that last few inches around the wrists. Little details like that compound the overall fantastic impression that this jacket has made on me. I have worn this from the bitter cold city into the climate-controlled mall and never felt like I needed any more or less of a jacket. I enthusiastically recommend this parka.

Love this coat! Super warm but yet lightweight. The length is nice and the detachable hood is a great feature. Would definitely recommend!
