A Great Walking Shoe - I am an old (77yrs) fitness walker who walks about 10-15 miles per week. When I was younger I ran in numerous half-marathons but as I, and my joints aged I had to switch to walking. For years I walked in Asics running shoes. They did fine until recently when I started needing more cushioning and support. The lighter weight of running shoes is not important to me anymore. A friend of mine recommended a high price New Balance walking shoe (926) so I tried them. While thses shoes gave me the cushioning that I wanted they were extremely heavy. I then learned that Asics has a walking shoe, the Gel Foundation Walker, so I bought a pair. These are wonderful shoes and provide great support and cushioning and are not heavy. I would recommend these shoes to any recreational or serious walker. Like all Asics shoes you should buy one-half size larger than your normal size. I was so impressed with the comfort of these shoes I just bought another pair (in black) for everyday use. These shoes use spEVA for cushioning just like Asics used to use in their running shoes. Asics has switched to using SoLyte in their running shoes as it is lighter than spEVA but it does not provide the same level of cushioning in my opinion. I hope Asics does not switch to SoLyte in their walking shoe. If they do I would have to reevaluate my position on this recommendation. I hope Asics reads this review.

ASICS Gel-Foundation® Walker - Had to get 1/2 size larger than normal but when the right fit was made these shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn bar none! These shoes would go far if offered in a variety of colors and not just black & white. That is the only reason for the 4 stars in look. Otherwise they would be a perfect 5 to me.

Super Duper Wazoo shoes - I'm on concrete all day and these shoes don't hurt my feet. Very comfy!

These are comfortable shoes - I have worn these shoes about 3 weeks, I think they are the most comfortable I've ever wore.

Great Shoe. Perfect walking shoe. Order a half size larger than your regular shoe.

Perfect All Around Walker - First of all praises to Zappos.com I ordered these shoes at 1:30am today and received them this morning at 10:30am. Incredible! I wore them to work and they immediately fit like a glove. No break in needed. They are true to size and width. They are breathable and sturdy and for the first time in a long time my spine felt totally aligned and I did not fatigue and my feet don't hurt. They are cushioned very well. I will search out this shoe again. I do hope it lasts a good while though. I have normal to high arches and felt this shoe has good motion control and arch support.

Excellent - My husband wears these everyday for work about 10-15 hours a day! He loves them and combined with the Superfeet insoles he says these are the most comfortable shoes out there right now!!

Good shoes for the price. My feet are wide and finding shoes that fit can be frustrating, but these were true to size and are quite comfortable. Would like a little more arch support, but would buy them again.

Solid walking shoe, just not as padded as I would prefer...not bad at all though. Great fit!

Walking or running shoes? I am disappointed these shoes did not feel more comfortable for me. I wear a 4E and it is often hard to find comfortable shoes anyhow. I heard that running shoes are a better option for walking but never tried them. I wish someone can confirm. One thing is definite however my tennis shoes are by far a better option. Too bad they only come in white.

I had to buy larger shoes to accommodate my foot following recent surgery. The shoe provides a lot of room and has a comfortable shoe bed. The only reason I don't rate it as high is there is no arch support, so suppose following a hard day at work, I develop foot pain because lack of that particular support. Other than that, the shoe is extremely comfortable.

I found the shoes to be really comfortable, but they did not stand up to wear and tear. I am a college student that walks about 2-5 miles a day around campus and it only took a few months for the shoes to be completely ruined. Full marks on comfort but 0 on durability. Very poorly constructed shoe.

I packed these up to return approximately ten minutes after they arrived. They are at least a half size smaller and narrower than marked. Also, like many other brands I've tried recently, the toe is so pointed and narrow that they wouldn't be wearable even in the right size. Why has this suddenly become the style? Does anyone have toes that come to a point? It's annoying enough with dress shoes.

Felt heavy, stiff and awkward; with far too much play behind ankle that would make long walks chafe and hurt. Returned.

Shoppers beware! Just like Nike. I ordered a pair of these shoes. One shoe was narrower at the top of the foot than the other shoe. It was a wide. It sure didn't feel like a wide. Make sure to measure the top of your shoes, before buying a pair. Manufacturing Error/Defect. Basically, one shoe tighter than the other.

OUCH! Normal shoe size is 114E. Since I use orthotics, I go up, in size, to a 12. Room to accommodate the insert. As reviews said a percentage felt it was NOT true to size, went UP to a 12.5. Looking at the shoe, straight out of the box, I could tell, by the sole, this was NOT a 4E wide. VERY NARROW, in the middle. Toes hit the end. They must be using the same 'measurements' New Balance uses, nowadays.

These are excellent walking shoes. These shoes are well made and are good for walking on asphalt or concrete. The bottom of the soles show some wear after many miles of walking. They provide good traction on wet pavement. These are not the best choice for trail hiking.
