Decent shoe, maybe a little overpriced. The loops at the back broke within the first week, so it's a little hard to pull the shoe on. Gets little grip on wet surfaces. Once I broke the shoes in, they became quite comfortable, definitely hold your foot well. They gave me blisters on the backs of my heels until I had them broken in though. Make sure you have time to wear them around the house before you need to use them as a daily shoe.

The shoes are comfortable from the start. They seem to be well made. I would buy these and their other models again.

I have bought many Macbeth shoes before and have been completely satisfied with all of them. They seem reliable, have many vegan versions, and have nice designs. I have to dock this one by a single star because the fit is different. I always buy 9.5 which always fits, but on this particular one, the heel is farther back resulting in some blisters for me. After about a week of breaking it in, this problem went away either because the fabric softened or moved in some way. Still very happy with these shoes and the brand despite this small issue. Unfortunately, they don't fit quite as tightly as I'd like in the heel.

I have to wear insoles with my street or flat shoes. These Macbeth skate shoes look adorable and felt great out of the box with little-to-no-uncomfy break in period.

I have had these shoes for about a month, and have not noticed any of the problems with durability/stitching that some other reviewers noted. Took me about a week of solid wear to really break these in. I wear anything between an 8.5 and 9.5 US women's, and the US men's 7 fits me quite well.

I'm a size 8 and I ordered a 7.5 and they feel perfect. Zappos had these on sale, and I love the free one day shipping.

I thought the shoe was good, but mine arrived with a few of the metal eyelets having some metal shards connected to them still causing the laces to get torn up. Also, a size 13 to me was large by possibly a whole size at least.

I love this sneaker for its lightweight feel and comfort and for the fact it has more cushioning that my Cons. I bought a brown pair about 2 years ago which I've loved and just ordered a new pair in black; unfortunately the new one doesn't have any cushioning around the ankle nor any cushioning on the tongue and as a result they are just too big. I have returned them and am now ordering a 1/2 size down, I wish they still had that cushioning but I'm hoping they're still as comfortable in the end.

Great styling, get compliments all the time. The shoe materials are a little thin, especially the heel area, so wear thicker socks to add cushioning.

My husband came home with a pair of these shoes and I liked them so much I got a pair, too. They are comfortable and cool looking. I wanted something to replace my old chucks and my chucks can hurt the arches in my feet if I wear them too long. I usually wear an 8.5 or 9. I got the 8.5 and they fit perfect. They were a little tight feeling in the toe at first but by the second time I wore them they felt much better and broken in. I just wear them for casual use, so I have not had any problems with wearing out the sole like other people expressed. I think it's coll that they are vegan, too.

These shoes stay true to their "Vegan" name, complete with Bane lyrics written on the inner sole. I can't see a circumstance where you would want to share these lyrics with anyone, as I'm sure the showing of them would create a stank cloud of foot sweat. Like all shoes for me, these tend to fall apart somewhat quickly. This is expected in my footware as I wear a single pair of shoes until their death before moving to the next pair. I give them a firm 2-3 months at most. The shoes tent to be on the bigger size. Not much arch support but, I can't imagine anyone expecting that from shoes of this nature. Similar to Van's, Converse, all those types...maybe a little better. Other than that, these shoes look pretty sweet.

Have had these shoes (in white) for about a month. They broke in quickly and have been comfortable thus far. Light as a feather. Definitely not a ton of arch support, but it hasn’t created any issues. Sweet style on these babies.

These shoes felt slightly big in the heel. It's not a big enough difference to size down, so I kept them. They are great for walking around town, but the fit problem deters me from also using them as a running shoe. While I am disappointed I am not not wholly unsatisfied.

I wrote a review some time ago, but I must amend it. As I mentioned, and as others have too, Macbeth Eliot's seem to run a bit large. Based on other reviews, I decided to order a 1/2 size smaller than I usually wear. I found those shoes to be really uncomfortable, even after allowing time to break them in. However, I tried a pair of the Eliot's that were a full (1) size smaller and that has made all the difference in the world! It seems that the 1/2 size difference wasn't small enough for my feet, and the incorrect size (understandably) played havoc on my feet. The new shoes that I have are MUCH better! It's amazing what an extra 1/2 size smaller sneaker has done. Again, I feel obligated to amend my first, unsatisfactory review of the Eliot's. Of course ill-fitting shoes won't fit properly. For those thinking about ordering these shoes for the first time, you should consider ordering a full size smaller than you wear to maximize comfort. As always Zappos is great.

This was my first pair of Macbeth shoes and at first I liked them a lot. However, they only lasted 4 months before the soles starting separating from both shoes in multiple spots. Zappos took care of it though with no questions asked.

I wore this shoe around the house to see if I could keep. It dug in to my heal even though the shoe is much bigger than the identified size.

These are cool looking shoes, and that's the reason I didn't return them. The first couple days have been pretty rough, but I think they're getting broken in. But check this out: they come with a weird foam insert in the heel, under the insole. it's about a 1/2" high riser that runs from the heel to some arbitrary point forward. that riser would give arch support if it extended further on the inside. however, it kinda ends halfway through the arch, but then tries to provide "support" on the outside of the foot. The result is that it feels like you have your socks wadded up or like you're smuggling something in your shoe. It's super uncomfortable. I bit the bullet and pulled the insert out -- it was just intolerable. I don't see how anybody has come away saying these shoes are comfortable. But once you slap the insole back in and lace them up nice n' tight, they do match the anatomy of an actual foot a little better. Regardless of the weird heel ramp and they feel a little baggy in the toes and on the sides BUT are tight in the toe-to-toe width. Great contact with the ground. Good flexibility. I practice tai chi, and once these finally get broken in, they'll work fine. They're starting to get comfortable for walking in. A thought: What's up with the "vegan" marketing for canvas shoes? That's like saying a carrot is gluten-free. I think they're sharp looking, but won't be buying them again.

I don't know whose feet these are designed for, but sure as shootin' not mine. They were super uncomfortable out of the box and I almost returned them. They felt like my socks were wadded up or like I had a hankie wadded up in the middle of my foot. I took out the insole and found that there was this little 1/2" foam insert glued into the heel and it made a ramp down to the middle of the foot. So there was a little attempt at padding the heel and making arch support. Problem was, the foam wasn't cut in a foot shape, just straight across. So ultimately, there was also some "support" on the outside of my foot. It was definitely going to be a problem. It felt awful. I made a decision: rip out the foam ramp. Now they fit okay, but are tight in some places and loose in others. They look fly. No doubt about it. I hope that I can break them in. I am not at all sorry I ripped out those foam deals in the heels. They sucked.

I bought these shoes for a friend of mine. He said he liked the shoes mostly for style. The actual shoe itself is worth about what it's priced at ($40.) No more, no less. They last a while and are a good everyday shoe.

I bought these shoes in March; they were comfy and looked good. I only wore them 1 day a week or so and today the heel of one of the shoes has disintegrated. The fabric ripped and white plastic was showing for a couple of months. Now I'm shopping for a different vegan shoe.

I'm a bit disappointed by these shoes. They're just not too comfortable. They feel narrow and a bit longer than they're supposed to be. Basically my feet feel a little squeezed and they slide forward and back slightly in the shoe. Also I really don't need for it to say 'vegan' on the shoe, I just need to know that. I'm going back to Simple shoes after this.

Have had these for almost a year, wearing several times a week, and they still look nice on the outside. However, the interior heel cloth has completely disintegrated, leaving the plastic shell free to dig into my heel, so now can't wear for more than half a day comfortably. They also squeak when I walk, and I've felt the urge to tell coworkers that I swear I'm not passing gas when I walk by them. I have a different pair of MacBeths that I love dearly (more of a thickly padded skater style), so I'd buy the brand again, but not this version.

They started to show way too much wear and tear after only a couple months, the heel started to peel away from the rest of the shoe within the first month. Also they were not comfortable at all. I previously had the Manchester and loved them but they were discontinued. I bought these as a replacement and was very disappointed.

Waste of money, they were uncomfortable and started showing wear within a week. These are far and away the worst shoes I have ever purchased.
