I purchased these from 8000 miles away keeping my fingers crossed they would fit well and be comfortable. Sure enough they have been fantastic after they were broken in. The break in took nearly a week of regular wear, but they have loosened up and have been my daily wear shoes ever since. Be sure to go up a size to allow your feet to swell a little and/or wear heavier socks.

These shoes fit great, look awesome, and I feel they will be awesome hiking shoes. I like to go for light day hikes and wear sneakers; these should be a great mix of hiking shoe and sneaker to keep it light (they do have a bit of weight to them though) but give a bit more stability and style. I actually haven't gone hiking with them yet, so I'll have to write more when I do.

These shoes have turned out to be what I hoping for. If you have narrow feet or low arches, these shoes are not ideal. They are pretty sturdy. They were stiff at first, but nicely broke in. I think they would be good for light hiking, and great for around town. I got them in a lighter color than what is shown on this web site as I write this. They are a bit slow to put due to the long laces, but I do not care. I think, overall, they are worth considering. I think that I would buy another pair.

Compaired to my Oboz Firebrand II hiking shoes. Not even close. Zen is very uncomfortable. Insole is worthless. Like walking barefoot on concrete. Zappos you should have more Oboz selection. Great shoes.

I've been looking for years for a low-volume shoe/boot that fits my slightly narrow, flat feet. Someone suggested Scarpa as it features more of a European fit. I fell in love with these the moment I tried them on. Unlike others I have worn, I can feel every part of my foot in contact with the shoe. While the shoe fits my foot like the proverbial glove, I can see how the toe box would be too narrow for others. If the rest of the line fits like this, I will be selling my Asolos.

I purchased these shoes without high expectations. They took a few days of breaking in, but quickly became extremely comfortable. These have easily become my favorite shoes.

I love these shoes. I just bought my second pair. I love how they are built. I love the style.
Last pair I bought was around 6 years ago. I wore them almost daily for 3 years. Then I tried a couple others.
This round though, the Zen just wasn't comfortable. If the shoe was available in wide widths, that may have solved my issues. I don't know if they changed the shoe or my foot just grew a bit wider. But I just couldn't keep it. I do recommend you try them. Scarpa makes fantastic shoes and they are worth every penny, if they fit you properly.

The Scarpa ZEN is kind of like the Kleenex of tissues. It's what the perfect approach. hiking. walking around shoe should look like. I am a big fan of the European hiking and climbing shoe manufacturers. I several pair of Salewa, a pair of La Sportiva and soon Millet. The Scarpa Zen may be the best made shoe I've ever seen. Attention to detail - style and comfort is A+ You know a shoe is right the minute you slide your foot in and adjust the laces. Oh yeah, you know the feeling. You'll achieve that with the Scarpa Zen. Very cool how they also offer some oddball sizes between sizes 11 and 12. And of course, Zappos is the best buying experience on the net.

These shoes are even better than the picture. Great fit, great construction, great traction, and awesome style. An Italian design made in the EU. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quality shoe.

I have very wide feet (EEE) and its often hard finding shoes that fit properly. Although these are D width, they are very comfortable and break in almost right away. Because the laces go down right down to the toes for wider feet just lace them looser at the toe box and the shoe will adjust to your width. I wore these hiking one day after I bought them and had no issues with blisters. The back heel around my achilles did start to get blisters when I was wearing low cut socks. changing socks fixed that right away.
Its my second pair of Scarpa shoes, I also have the Mojito which feel like wearing slippers.
I would recommend these shoes, they take a beating and still look like new

Bought these for my husband, and he loved them. Very comfortable, true to size, and stylish. Few weeks ago he had knee surgery and was looking for a comfortable pair of shoes with good grip to start walking without crutches. He loves them!

Whom ever came up with the 45.5 size is a genius. 11.5 is always just a little too small so I'd go with a 12. It worked but never felt like they actually fit exactly. 11.6 is perfect.
I have a wide forefoot and a narrow heel. This shoe laces high on the instep so it locks my heel in for absolutely no slip.
Very happy with these Scarpas.

The Scarpa Zen is a quality shoe! I wear Lowa hiking and hunting boots normally, but needed something for lighter warm weather treks, so decided on the Zens after a lot of research which so far has paid off. They definitely run narrow as I usually wear an 11B and they are just right for me. Do not count on any insole for arch support due to it being next to nothing and without my custom orthotic insole, they are like walking on a hard floor. Cushioning insoles a must in my opinion, but not too thick because the heal is designed for the skinny insole provided and my 3/8' insoles just start to let the heel slip a bit. The main reason I bought the Zen is reviews about running narrow and the true lace to toe design that is the stone cold nuts! I suspect after they are thoroughly broken in, they will become my go to summer shoe when not wearing my flip-flops, and will order another pair in case Scarpa is stupid and discontinues this model.

Great shoes. I write this after owning them 5 years! So much support. And they are indestructible. Only thing I ended up modifying was the laces. Original aglets failed, so I put some heat shrink tubing in the ends. Again, super durable and can wear all day because of the great support. I have very high arches btw.

Amazing shoe. Solid, quality construction that puts to shame other shoes in the same category. They do require a brief break-in period, but I like that because it tells me they'll go the distance.

I dont write any reviews, but need to say these shoes are great. I live in Montana and have tested them though out the winter and they have held up really well. I would recommended these shoes.

Solid well built shoe. This is a stiff soled shoe, just what you need for rocky, rooty New England trails. The full length lacing makes it easy to dial in a true custom fit. Note these fit true to size which is unusual for Scarpa which are known to run small. I initially ordered 1/2 size large but had to get my usual 45 after all.

The Scarpa Zen is comfortable right out of the box - no break-in needed. On the pricey side, but worth the expense.

I love these shoes. I use them for light hiking and general kick around. They look nice, have good support and are lighter than my hiking shoes. At first I thought that the laces were too short, but after a couple of times it was fine and I could double tie them. Because the laces go so close to the toe, I can tighten them where I need to for a great fit. The toe box is good but not as spacious as Keen.

My shoe size is about the most popular size. So, if I were to tell everyone how great these are it'll be harder for me to find my size.
Therefore please be advised; these shoes are junk! These shoes are garbage! Don't buy these shoes! I'll dispose of them for you.
I'd also recommend:
Stick with Scarpa, forget the rest.

Second pair I have bought but will not be the last. The most comfortable and stable shoe I have ever worn.
I'd also recommend:
Only Scarpa, try the Mojito for a lighter shoe.
