A wider shoe would have been preferable. Under the circumstance the one you sent will make do.
Not withstanding the above I find the Tretorn is still the best for its intended purpose.

Luxury shoe -
This is one most clean-cut shoe I’ve ever been able to find... and they also go well with jeans and khakis!...the perfect shoe...

I love these sneakers. They have simple, retro appeal and look sharp when white. I'm still learning how to keep white canvas sneakers clean.
I've bought two pairs just to make sure I can still get these when my current pair wear out.
They have a really comfortable fit. The canvas is soft and conforms to my foot well.
The fit and finish of the blue detail is not so great. The threading frayed after a few months of infrequent wear.
The paint has started chipping away from the eyes which is disappointing.
Still, these blemishes provide some character. If they were better made, I'd give it 5 stars all around.

I owned a pair of these in the early 70's and ordered a pair through Zappos. They aren't exactly as I remember them, but are very close. Very comfortable. Wish they had the leather version.

I've been wearing canvas style shoes for a long time (mostly Converse), but I wanted to try something different and I came across these. At first I was hesitant about how blindingly white they looked in the pictures online. I was happy to see when I got them that they're a little easier on the eyes then they appear. On a comfort level, so far these have been amazing. More comfortable than Converse or Vans in my opinion. I'm really happy about these. The other colorway (white, ginger, harbor gray) looked interesting as well. These are great and I'm really happy with them.

I'm a child of the 80's and love Tretorns. These feel just like they did back then - very comfortable. If you're considering getting them from Zappos, keep this in mind:
1. These shoes aren't white. They're off-white.
2. The plastic gullwing logo on the side IS pure white.
3. The stitched trim that outlines the tongue, the lace well, and the "v" toe IS also pure white.
If you look at them in indoor light, you can't tell the difference, but if you go outside and look down at them, you'll notice a big difference. It doesn't look bad per-se. Just odd. And definitely not what they looked like back in the day.
Now, here's what's really odd: before I knew Zappos carried these shoes, I bought some online from the Tretorn website. When they arrived, I noticed...
1. They are pure white all over.
2. The gullwing logo is leather, not plastic.
3. They're made from a distinctly heavier canvas than the ones I got from Zappos.
4. They're not as comfortable as the ones I got from Zappos.
I ended up keeping both pair. Both look and feel great. Not totally sure why there's a difference, but I like them so much I really don't care. Just be advised, there is a difference. If you get them from Tretorn, they'll look like they did in the 80's. If you get them from Zappos, they'll feel like they did in the 80's.

Pale imitation of the real shoe from the 60s - no padding around heel, poor interior padding under foot, stitching not robust enough to actually use for athletics.

I wore these shoes for a week straight after I ordered them and just used them to walk around in. I found the stitching on the seam near the laces ripping. So disappointed as I really like the style and comfort.

I’ve known of Tretorn for years and have always heard great things about this classic tennis shoe. I read several reviews before buying these shoes saying that they were not conformable and felt cheaply made, I didn’t take those reviews seriously and now wish I had. After wearing them for almost a month, they are starting to hurt and I need to buy insoles. They have very little support and not very comfortable. The aesthetic design is great, but I find myself reaching for my old Sauconys instead. There are lots of great looking shoes to spend your money on before these. I won’t be buying any Tretorns again.

I've been wearing this shoe for twenty years. I keep buying them because they've been consistently comfortable...until now. Heel is cut lower in the back, and there is no support there, either. Not comfortable, and not what I wanted. Very disappointed...

I have purchased Tretorn shoes for at least 20 years and sadly have seen the quality decline continuously with each successive pair. I would rather they kept the quality standards up and charged more but they are doing the opposite. I will no longer be buying these shoes.

Where did the quality go? I just ordered 2 pair of these Tretorn Canvas Tennis shoe's and I sent them back the next day. I have worn these same shoes for years and they were made so nice and were comfortable. The last 2 pair were like a completely different brand. They were made so cheap. The fabric was so thin, no support at all. They felt like a $10.00 pair of shoes. Now I don't know what to do as no one makes a nice canvas sneaker.

A classic style for a reason. These shoes are a great fit, light weight and sturdily constructed. A great fit for knocking around on the weekend.

Tretorn cut corners with the Nylite during the past few years (circa 2009 - early 2011). Those shoes have a plain canvas lining, not terry-cloth. The canvas was off-white rather than white, white. The collar padding was removed, so just stitching remained around the collar. The rear heel top was lowered, making it more likely one's foot will slip out when playing tennis/racquetball/handball. Also, laces are low-cost now and the soft arch support is gone. HOWEVER, the summer 2012 colors (which aren't white) have the old terry-cloth lining, have some padding in the collar, and the colors are nice and bright. Laces are still low-cost and the arch support is still missing, but these are definitely an improvement over the past few years. Curiously, the best Tretorn Nylites now are the Big Kid versions, rather than the Adult versions. The big kid versions are very much like the ones from the 70s/80s/90s. If one has a smaller foot size, that is the best way to go. So one needs to look VERY closely at the specific color/shoe before deciding whether to buy. Luckily, this is easy with Zappos. As always, the toe box is a bit narrow. So folks who wear thick tennis socks or have wider (D/E/EE) feet probably should go up a half-size. Women with a B width or Men with a C width can probably go with their normal size.

Warning - these are not the Tretorn Nylites of even 10 years ago. All the padding has been removed. More like a Converse low top. Almost false advertising by Tretorn. Very disappointed. High praise for Zappos, on the other hand! Great, fast service.

The perfect summer shoe, the all white nylite goes with anything and keeps things modern. I find myself wearing them all the time, with a swimsuit to jeans and a blazer. Spot cleans much easier than most canvas shoes I've had in the past, and unlike others, Tretorns are not prone to coming unglued from the rubber sole with wear. Perfect weight and hugs your foot, not big and bulky and at all. The all white also makes you look more tan, even someone from Seattle like myself, who's just now getting some sun. Only drawback is that white will show some scuffs, but looks better worn in, or you can easily wash them out.

Wear these awhile and you will appreciate why they were the working shoes of tennis professionals. They are always comfortable and always a great fit and still something that stands out in the crowd. No other pair of kickers have ever come close.

These shoes are super! I get a lot of positive comments like..."Those are great old school kicks" and "cool color combination." I love them. Slight squeaking when I walk but, otherwise, great.

I think these sneaks are comfortable, stylish, and retro. My dad used to wear these in the '70s to play tennis, so I feel like I am continuing the tradition by purchasing a pair for myself.

I used to buy these shoes in the '80's and loved them. They haven't changed and I still love them. They are well made and comfy, plus I can throw them in the wash and let them air dry. I will keep buying them.

The best internet site for ordering ANYTHING. The convenience is unmatched. The shipping in both directions paid by Zappo's no matter what you need is jaw-droppingly cool! The Customer Service has been very helpful in solving sizing concerns. I love this place. I ordered Tretorn Nylite Canvas tennis shoes. I hadn't ordered these shoes in 20 years. They are okay for what I use them for. They have little, if an, arch support - but they are okay and they look good. I wish you carried the leather version, as well.

These are not as great as the old eighties shoes. The quality is much lower and both the look and feel suffer. Still, they are comfortable and great shoes for casual. Only buy them at Zappos because the service with Tretorn's website is very poor by comparison.

Very comfortable and light as a feather. Great for lounging or driving, but not a walking shoe due to its lightweight materials. I remember this shoe from the 1970s, it was a very trendy, popular, and stylish tennis shoe. But I don't think this shoe is suitable anymore for sports -- it is for casual wear. The comments about the shoes wearability would also indicate that this is not a good shoe for long walks. Wear them indoors and driving, and I think you'll be very pleased with them.
