I have owned this particular Dansko model for over four years. I wear them daily in rain/mud/snow/sleet. As a teacher, I am on my feet a great deal and find they are ultra comfortable. Despite daily wear, these shoes seem to be virtually indestructible. They look great with casual or dressier attire, "work pants" or jeans. A pleasure to find such a high quality product.
I'd also recommend:
Dansko is the "gold standard" - no other brands seem comparable in quality, style, and comfort.

Great Shoe - I love these shoes. They are very comfortable. I don't hike very often, so I cannot judge that part, but they are great as cold weather shoes. They are wide enough to allow for thick socks. The shoes tie snuggly around the ankle, so even with thinner socks the foot doesn't slide in the shoe too much. They are also light for a boot.

Boots - I have been wearing Vasque for years, but the look of the Timberland's caught my eye. They are very comfortable. Only took 1/2 hour to an hour to feel great on my feet. I live where it's cold snowy and wet, they work great.

Best Hiking Boot - This is one of the best hiking boots I've ever had. Good for all terrain, including sand dunes and no sand gets in! Provides much needed stability and had no foot problems from the 1st day worn.

Unbelievable comfort - I initially tried these boots on at a sporting store but they did not have my size. So I turned to Zappos and received them in the mail the same week. These boots are comfortable, stable, good support for the ankles, and when I'm hiking in the woods I do not get foot fatigue. They also look great with jeans!

Very satisfied - These boots are very comfortable and light. I can't wait for the mud to dry out so I can go for a real hike in them.

Great boots for every day! These are wonderful boots. My favorite of this style boot that I have ever owned. They look great, feel great, and the laces stayed tied. I have another pair of boots that forever are frustrating me because I have to retie them every five minutes. I would definitely buy another pair of these boots.

Excellent investment! I'm so glad I got these, many thanks to everyone for their reviews! The traction is amazing. I even feel safe walking on ice. Comfortable and stylish, I know these will last forever, too.

Stay dry and warm - As an Indiana UPS driver, I spend up to 12 hrs. a day out in the snow/rain/slush during our Christmas rush. These boots have kept my feet dry and comfortable during very wet conditions this season. They feel good enough and are light enough to jog in when needed. I have very wide feet and the wide size fits well. No complaints at all. Far more comfy and warmer than my Columbia Bugaboo IIs.

Outdoors every day at work - First, there was no break in period. I was comfortable from the start. This is a first for me. I tried another pair of boots and returned them (thanks Zappos!) and ordered these next. My wide feet comfortably fit without the rear of the shoe being floppy. That is rare. I work on my feet all day on the roadway, sometimes with no breaks. These boots have already endured rain, some snow, mud, and sunshine. Temperature range so far has been from 30-60 degrees Fahrenheit. I did purchase another pair of boots for below 30. My toes were just starting to get too chilly this morning in the sleet. I have worn only one pair of thick silk (they look like classic wool) socks. I think 2 would be overkill in these boots unless you got oversized. No sore feet here! Thanks Timberland and Zappos!

Timberland Chocorua Trail with Gore-Tex® Membrane - I love these boots. I work at a delivery company and I'm on my feet for many hours; these boots are a perfect fit. These boots are no longer carried in the stores around here; thankfully Zappos has them for women.

Great Hiking Boot - I'm a Timberland fan. I've had a few pairs of hiking boots in the past. The only ones that really do what they claim are Timberlands. They are strong, rugged, AND attractive. I am someone that really cares about comfort for the foot, as I have had major operations on both my feet. Timberlands have the highest comfort factor for me and they protect my feet well, which is important to me. I even bought a smaller version for my son so that we may go hiking together. I care about his feet as if they were my own. Moms, you can spend tons of money on clothes and what have you, but you would be better advised to spend that money on some really good shoes. Timberlands are the best in my book.

I compared this with Vasque Vista, Zamberlan Vioz GT, & Lowa Renegade GTX Mid. I have average to slightly wide feet, and sad to say, cankles. The sole on this seemed a little thin compared to the others but otherwise, it was very supportive. It felt great on my high arches (better than the Vasque, which was a surprise). The ankle support was quite good. It felt like it would not require much break in time, much less than the Zamberlan, which was relatively stiff. For me, it was much more comfortable than the pricier Lowa Renegade. If you're on a budget, this is a great choice. If money is no object, the Zamberlan is the way to go.

The reviews show the pair is well liked. But by looking at the pattern of the treads around the heel I had suspected the shoes may throw water/mud to the backs of my pant legs on wet surface. I decided to give it a try anyway. The shoes arrived and indeed are very comfortable. I made my driveway wet and stepped into a couple of puddles. Indeed the shoes quickly made water marks on the backs of my pant legs. For that I give it 4 stars. The "cleanest" boots (don't throw water at all) I ever had are Ecco Macia's predecessor.

Pros, comfortable out of the box. No break in period, flexible soles, roomy toe box, good ankle support, snug heel (i.e., no slippage, which drives me crazy) and good looking. Cons, soles feel a little thin for the weight, so you feel the stones underfoot, tongue is detached and not quite wide enough to fit easily under lacing, so stuff can get it. Overall, good for day hikes with light pack on well maintained trails.

I’ve done about six hikes of under eight miles in the Chocorua boots in comfort. The boots immediately got a crease in the top of the toe that concerned me, but it hasn’t rubbed my toes at all. I went up a whole size like I do in work out shoes, and the boot is a bit wide on my slightly narrow foot, but is fine with my orhotic insoles and med/thick hiking socks. And I’ve been in water a couple of inches deep without getting my feet wet! I like the looks of the boot; my only complaint is that it doesn’t feel like it has any cushioning.

Wide means WIDE - I have wide feet and wanted to find a pair of comfortable boots for light hiking (mostly day hikes in our local regional park). The shoe overall is pretty comfortable, but the wide size I ordered is almost too roomy, especially toward the front. I'm wearing the boots with heavy socks which seem to help.

Tiny Feet - I liked the quality of this shoe. I don't usually buy from the internet and I was surprised that this shoe fit my 5 ½s as well as it does.

Hoping to Replace other Timberland Boot I had for years - I had a pair of Timberlands that I bought years ago and wore them out. My goal was to find another pair of Timberlands to fill my need for another hiking boot. I found these and the reviews were great, they looked great and they came in a wide width, which I need. Unfortunately, during our first hike, in the toe box area it was stretched too tight over my toes and they were going numb. I thought it was just a "break in" period so I tried them 2-3 more times and it happened every time I wore them. I finally gave up because I just can't hike with my toes numb. It was very unfortunate because I liked the looks of this boot. If you have a wide foot then this is not the boot for you.
I'd also recommend:
Montrail, after 14 tries of boots these are the ones that are the most comfortable for my wide foot.

Service versus product - Service was excellent, despite being a holiday. Boots appeared to have been worn before and were scuffed up in several places. Also, you could see the glue on parts of the shoe base and rubber.

only downfall is that I have to tie my laces on the outside side of shoes,, the bow catches on the other shoe & I trip & fall face down. It's worth tying on the outside. How much longer are they going to be out of stock

What I love about Timberland is they know not to mess with a good thing. I got my first pair of this model of boots when I was sixteen or seventeen. It's about 13 years later, and I just purchased my fourth or fifth pair. They are everything I want in a hiking boot: waterproof, comfortable/supportive, durable, and they have that classic leather look. I love them.

Bought my first pair for a trip to Alaska in 2006 which required water proof boots. These kept my feet dry even with stream fording in ankle deep water. Ordered another pair in about 2016. 10 years is surely an acceptable life span given their hard use. I love the stability and comfort BUT one complaint is that they refuse to stay tied. We maintain 40 acres and I am constantly having to stop and re tie which could be dangerous on a hillside or in heavy woods with downed limbs. Can an improvement please be considered? I would order another pair in a heartbeat if they were "fixed"...I read other reviews and found no others with this complaint... just my feet perhaps?
