An excellent boot. Thick, high quality rubber. Goes thru mud, water, snow, etc. with great traction. So easy to clean. Can only walk thru snow for a bit however, you will get cold quickly in these. They hold cold, and hold heat. They are nice and wide on top for a great fit for larger calves. I don't get the strap, but I don't care. Feel cute as a button and protected from yuck while cleaning out the chicken coop in these! Highly recommend!

So I hate when you watch the video and it looks really "loose" on the model. Well, yeah, because she has tiny stick figure legs. If you're a woman like me, with curves, then you will love these Hunters. I originally had the tall original Hunter boots, in Pink from 2005 (ah, such a trend setter) but then I noticed that they fit my feet but were way too tight in the calves. I could really only wear them with thin socks. With the Huntress, I wear those fun Hunter socks which is totally worth it if you're using them as I do for snow boots. If you are using these for snow boots and do not wear the socks your feet will get really cold really fast. But with the Hunter socks, they almost get too hot! If you are debating between these or the "regular" Hunter boot, I would say to measure your calf circumference and look at the dimensions for each. I know that everyone says that they don't like the ankle on this boot as opposed to the original. Sadly I agree, and that would be my only negative. But I get tons of compliments!

I love these boots and I wear a 5.5 or 6 in American size. In my tall riding boots I always have to order a 6.5 to accommodate my thick calves, so I was dubious. These huntress are great! The only issue I had is that the sides looked very worn and as if the green color were worn completely off. Is this normal with rubber wellies? Zappos was great and is sending placement.

This review is for all the girls out there that think they can't wear Hunter boots because they are to tight in the calf. These boots are the bomb. They are big enough in the calf and around the top of the boot for athletic or bigger legs. The originals are so tight around the top, and I personally do not have what I think are large legs, but the originals were way too tight. The Huntress has fewer color options, but I have both the matte finish and gloss finish in several colors, and have to say I prefer the matte. You can dress these boots up or down. I put a sheepskin liner in the bottom of my Hunter's so they don't seem sloppy loose. It is a perfect fit. You won't go wrong with these boots. I have four pair in different colors. They do run just a bit on the larger size so be careful. Enjoy

I am 5' 9" with athletic calves and I always have problems finding boots to fit my legs. The Hunter Originals were, alas, too small-- I was hoping they would work because of the dizzying array of colours but it just wasn't going to happen. However, I am thrilled with the only other option for us big-calved folks-- the Huntress! The shaft is just a few inches shorter and the width is perfect. It balances out my legs perfectly and the lower shaft eliminates the chance of rubbing around the knee (that I've heard is a problem with the original). The color is very vibrant. I was pleasantly suprised at the arch support; I've walked around in these all day with no complaints. They're also surprisingly warm-- when I took them off after coming in from the January air, it was like I had just stood over an AC and my calves were freezing; the difference is that pronounced. I love these boots and would heartily recommend them to anyone. Thanks for my Christmas present, Ma and Dad!

The wide calf version of Huntress is not hugely different from the regular version, but is perfect for people like my daughter who is an athlete. About ½-¾ bigger in the heel, toe box and shaft. The difference allows her to step into them easily without sitting down to tug them on. My daughter is a very average build, just particularly muscular in the legs. Using the Hunter boot socks makes a big difference as well. They fill up the extra spaces created. My size stars for this product reflect what Hunter intends the wide calf to be. Order your regular Hunter size, which is pretty true to your regular shoe. My daughter wears a 7½ or 8 shoe, she wears an 8 Hunter. These are great shoes, the green is the traditional Hunter color and most versatile.

I bought these boots for my daughter; she needed boots that were waterproof for taking photos in the wetlands. She loves these boots, keep her feet warm and dry and sized correctly.

Love the Hunter Huntress. Just a little wider in the calf makes all the difference.

I love my new rain/snow boots! I would definitely recommend the huntress, because I am 5'4 and when I read about the Hunter original. Everyone complained about the boot hitting their knee if you were short and also not having enough room in the calf. So I decided to go with the huntress! And I LOVE them! I am a runner...my calves are not big but they are a little muscular and with stuffing my jeans or pant leg into the boot on top with my wellie socks! (Yes I bought them also, and they are great paired with them, def keep your toes warmer with) there is no way I can imagine that I would fit into the original hunter with all that clothing material. Oh yeah and I am an 8 1/2 and i went with an 8, and they fit perfectly with still a little wiggle room. Also I got the welly socks in a medium not the large like it recommends, and there is still room in the sock! I got my huntress in black, and it goes with everything, dress it up or play it down, so comfy, the heel and sole everything, I love them, and can definitely be seeing myself using them till the end of time, never will go out of style, so durable and well made! thank you Zappos! You never disappoint me!

I am so happy with my new boots. The extra room on the top allows me to tuck in my jeans. I might add a small cushioned insole to give me a little more support and keep my feet warm when it gets cold out. I just love the look.

Amazing. Zappos totally surprised me in a time where customer service is low (ask for a size in a store and the sour salesperson replies with no I "think" that's all we have, don't even bother to check) anyhow Zappos nailed it. I ordered them, they don't ship to Canada so I was so sad but I was able to work it out with a USA friends address so yay! Then I read reviews about them fitting big and I was so disappointing because it was going to be a huge hassle to send them back cause of the no send to Canada issue. I called a couple days after they were ordered and Zappos was amazing. No problem, they returned my order and sent a half size smaller than I normally take (fit perfect) and upgraded me to VIP just cause without prompting so I would get them faster than I would of with my original order. I. Love. Zappos. Outstanding service.

Calf is very wide and does not look right. Rain would certainly get into the boot. Am returning for the standard hunter boot. Also, about a size too big for the foot. Pretty though.

These boots are fabulous. I have a bit of a bigger calf and these fit beautifully. I typically wear a 8, sometimes a 7.5. I bought the 8 first and they were huge! The 7 fits perfectly.

Finally, a mucking boot that I am able to tuck my pants or rain gear into. Will put an insole in for comfort. Of course, Zappos is the best!

I ordered these boots because I was going to be attending a wedding outside on a rainy, cold weekend. After reading the reviews I chose the huntress because my calves are about 15" and was afraid the other hunter boots might be too snug. These fit perfect! I bought the fleece socks with them and they kept my feet warm and dry. I would buy them again.

Finally a rain boot that fits my calves. I had ordered the orginal shorts but they just didn't work out. these are a little big but aren't too bad with thick socks. Got a compliment from my man friend on them and normally he says i have no fashion sense which is good.

I've spent a long time trying to decide which rain boots to buy. As a New Yorker, I see Hunter's everywhere but I never knew why so I decided to try them anyways and I'm so glad I did. I debated on getting the original or the huntress because I am 5 foot 3, 135 pounds, so I have thicker calves. The Huntress is perfect because they look just as great as the original but are roomy so I can wear any type of pants with them and thick socks without worrying about it being too tight. Because they are more roomy than the original, they are easier to take on and off too. Unfortunately, I accidentally bought navy instead of black but I decided to keep them because the navy is still really nice. Love these shoes! There's a reason why everyone in New York wears them!

Love! I like that I can wear them with jeans, leggins, cords etc and don't have to worry with them being too tight like the original boot. Due to my bigger calves I was limited to just leggins with the original boots. Great boot for bigger calf ladies! Order a size down...I wear a 9 in most other shoes/boots but wear an 8 in these!

I love my Hunters! They look great, keep my feet dry in all sorts of conditions, and the slightly shorter length found with the Huntress fits me well. I will say that the Huntress and Originals have a considerably different fit, so be sure to try on different sizes of both if you aren't sure which is for you.

I'm normally an 8.5, ordered an 8, and they fit great! I also have massive calves, to the extent that no other knee high galosh has ever fit my legs, and these are great! A bit of wiggle room, but not too much. I was able to wear these with thick socks and jeans. If you have thin calves, these will probably be very large on you.

Love these! Was worried about ordering boots online because I always have a hard time fitting my calves. These were amazingly perfect. Bought them in Hunter Green the original so they're not shiny. They're perfect for rainy/muddy days and without the shine they attract a little less attention to my not so small feet. Great height, great color, great fit. Buy them, you won't regret.

I love these! I have both the Original Hunter boots and the Huntress. These are much more accommodating for someone with an athletic calf. I prefer the chunky sole of the Originals, but the Huntress more than makes up for it in the roomier calf area. I am a consistent 6.5 shoe size so I purchased the size 6 and they fit perfectly. Plenty of room to wear Wellie Socks with them. I find myself hoping for rain or cold weather now!

Very pleased with these! I'd been lusting after Hunters forever but the Original would not accommodate my calves. The Huntress is perfect. I wear a size 9.5 and went with a 9. They're a little roomy but I figure I'll get some welly socks and that will eat up the extra room. Very pleased!

I have a circumference of 16 inches on my calves and have always had issues finding the right rain boot. I purchased these Hunter boots, knowing that I might have to send them back. It was a pleasant surprise to finally find a pair of boots that fit me well! The natural rubber accommodates the shape of my leg and the preferences of my foot. Definitely, a good investment!

I love these boots! The wider calf is perfect for us athletic girls or anyone with over a 14" calf! I found a size down was the perfect way to go, even with thick socks it fits comfortably. I have worn these in the rain and they are super comfy and look so cute. I love my original hunter green ones, but the other colors are cute too!
