The boots were bought as a birthday present for my daughter. They fit perfectly, which was a very pleasant surprise because she normally has a hard time finding shoes or boots. Maybe it's because she could adjust the lacing for support, but they worked well even though her feet are rather flat. She had never tried on Dr. Martens before, so we just took a chance because of Zappos amazing return policy. Great experience.

Impossible! How did they get here in a few hours? I ordered these boots after 6pm last night, and they arrived before lunch at my office today. That's impossible! I'm extremely pleased with the service and the boots; they're Docs so of course they're great. I didn't know what size to get (I'm a US 8 1/2) so I ordered UK 6, rather then UK 7, which I've tried before and was too big. They are a perfect fit, which might be problem for thick socks, but once they're broken in I'm sure they'll be ok. The "black smooth" color is nice, dressy even, as I plan to wear these to work.

My dream boots! I'm a bartender and I needed something tough, sexy and comfortable to be running around in at all hours of the night. I always knew I needn't look any further than the gorgeous Doc Martens of my wildest dreams. Just a note to any kindred spirits thinking about making this investment: don't let the first week freak you out, it’s horrible to break them in (especially at the ankle), but after a couple lengthy wears it's COMPLETELY worth it! Let them mold to you and if your relationship is anything like mine, you'll be inseparable in no time!

These boots look super cute and I absolutely love them. I've had them for a year now and they really do last. Although they are extremely stiff and hard to break in. Give it a week and you'll be fine. It hurts a bit around the ankles but comfy socks can solve that.

These are cool boots. They do make a statement and I love to pair them with more conservative clothing for the funky effect. The footbeds are very comfortable, but the heels are loose and the shaft is narrow at the top. If you have large calves, you might find them to be a little tight in that location. I will probably look for a heel insert of some kind to enhance the fit. I usually wear a size 8.5 to 9 and I purchased an 8 which fits fine, but I have to wear thin socks. I am having fun with these boots and I would recommend them to you if you like to make a statement with your footwear.

These boots are great, I wear them with skirts and dresses, and it's cute/tough. They are stompy; they weigh a fair amount (even without steel toes!) I like that I can wear them in the rain and bad weather. They only look better as they get beat up. They do take forever to break in, and are quite painful until they do. So I wouldn't buy them if I was planning to wear them right away. They still aren't fully broken in yet, but I remember that after Docs break in they are pretty comfortable.

Well, they're true to size, all right, but unfortunately they don't carry MY size. I wear a 7.5 - the 7 is a little too small, and the 8 is too big. Oh well. Otherwise, they seemed to be very good quality. The leather is quite stiff, but I'm told that's normal for Docs. The only other problem I can see is that the shaft is just a little narrow for my calf. Since they're lace-ups, I was able to fasten them up completely, but the boot is clearly designed for a smaller calf, so it looked a little bent at the top. I'm not sure if that's something that would go away when the boots are broken in.

I love my Dr. Martens cherry boots. Every time I go out I get comments on them and they look great with a skirt or a dress. But, they are so uncomfortable! I think the reason is because the leather is really really hard and stiff. I wore them for a couple of hours and I had 3 wounds on my feet (two on my ankle and one on the side of my foot). It's not that the boot is too small, it fits perfectly; it's the contact with the hard leather. What I'm doing right now is wearing them with a couple of silicone bandages to prevent the rubbing against my skin. Hopefully the leather will become softer with time!

I love these boots - It's a little time consuming to put them on because I have to loosen the laces to get the zipper up over my larger than average calf. Once zipped, these boots are really comfortable. They don't look great with any of my boot cut or flared jeans because the boot creates a bulge in the pant legs, but I love them with short skirts. Shipping was fast and perfect. I'm very happy with these boots and would recommend. I've walked a few miles in them already with minimal pain and wear and tear.

These boots look amazing, but they are terrible on my ankles and difficult to break in. The leather is very stiff and it is nearly impossible to climb stairs in these without pinching your ankles painfully.

I have worn these boots almost daily for the last 5 years. That said, I have had to purchase more than 6 pairs over that time, not because the leather or soles wear out, but because the zippers always break. (Sometimes after less than 2 weeks of use!) I have taken some of them to see about getting the zippers repaired, but the cobbler says this is a manufacturing issue, and that they should not be failing so quickly. These zippers fail even when the boots are left loosely laced, and the zippers aren't used. It's disappointing, because the boots otherwise stay in good condition, and replacing the zippers costs nearly as much as a new pair.

I hated these.I have been wearing Doc Martens since I was a young'n, and currently own a pair of their Phina boots, which I wear every day. I was looking for something a little more simple and mature to switch off with for daily wear.I ordered these in black smooth and just tried them on.First of all, these are stiff. Not just a little stiff, like, can't-bend-your-ankles/feel-like-plastic stiff. Not worth trying to break in.The satin finish is nice, but touchy, they showed up with oil spots on them that I can't rub off from someone obviously touching them with greasy hands (gross!). When I tried them on the ankles were much too big for my legs, and bowed out instead of pulling close to the leg when I stood up, so it gave a weird poofy/cankle effect, and my feet now hurt from the 5 minutes I spent trying them on. I will be returning these and maybe trying a different material or style.

These are by far the most comfortable shoes that I have ever tried. I wear them as frequently as possible in the cooler months (I live in Northeast Ohio), and have two pairs (one cherry, one black) so I can alternate wearings (its important to let leather rest 24 hours between wearings). They are so comfortable that I do not even want to take them off at the end of the day, and some days that is over 15 hours. I cannot think of another pair of shoes that I have ever owned, not good tennis shoes or even my short Docs (1460) that I can wear that long and not want to get them off my feet at the end of the day! I originally owned the 9663, but found the foot portion was too wide of a fit (I am a guy, but have narrow feet), when I found Doc's no longer makes a men's 20 eye boot (very disappointing to see Doc's killing off their 20 eyelet's), I decided to give the 1b60 a try. The fit is perfect with the narrower width. For socks I find knee length nylon dress socks, or knee cotton tube socks are just right (which is also good because both are relatively inexpensive). I really appreciate the zip, lacing up a 20-eye boot is time consuming! The boot shaft helps stabilize the shoe (very noticeable when I switch to my 1460s), and is great for keeping warm. As far as style, I always wear them under my jeans, I do think it looks odd for guys to wear tall boots over pants, and I mainly wear them for the comfort and warmth. If I want to show them off a bit more, I roll up my pant legs a bit. More recently I got my wife a pair in black, she absolutely loves them (and they look great on her!). What else can I say? These are awesome boots, I really wish Doc's would recognize that these could be a great men's boot (ie more sizes) and would also look great in a Smooth Brown finish, c'mon Docs! With the right care you can keep them lasting and looking great a really long time using the right cleaners and conditioners. There's tons of info on leather care, boot care and specific stuff for Doc Martens if you do a little research. For these tall docs, it is very to have boot trees (I make them out of cheap pool noodles, I cut a slit down the length of the noodle and join two pieces together, which makes them snug inside the boot; a single noodle will make a pair with this method) - this will keep the shaft from sagging as the leather breaks in. If it sags, it creates an unnatural looking folding around the ankle. Folding is expected (all leather boots do this), but it should be from breaking into your foot, not from improper storage (the latter makes them look really sad, which I learned the hard way with my first pair).

Well, I am a true Dr. Marten lover, own several pairs and styles. However, this certain style has defective issues with the plastic zipper! I have had two pairs break in the exact same spot on the right lower boot (on the zipper).

Bargain price for boots that go with me from the hiking trail to the board room. Just as cute with tights and a dress as they are over skinny jeans with a down jacket. The break-in time is a bit long for these but I intend to wear them for many years.

I have had my 20 Eye Docs for over 20 years and they are just as good today as when I bought them. I first bought them in a size 3 and wore them for years and recently I purchased a size 4. I do not know if sizes have changed in the last few years but they both fit. I will never give up my Docs. I own seven pairs and they are all very comfortable once you get the leather and soles worn in. They literally will last forever.

These are the classic punk boots that I always have to own! I wear a size 7.5 womens and I use to wear Dr Martens UK 6 and I got terrible blisters, but when I switched to UK 5 the blisters went away and I didn't have to break them in. These boots are gorgeous and I love them and I would marry them if I could. They last forever. The zipper are definitely a time saver. If you live in a rainy climate like Seattle, these are the way to go.

I love these boots! I have an old pair of Dr. Martens from many years past and was hoping these would hold to the same standard. The sole has been changed, a little lighter and softer which is a plus. I was a little concerned about break in time, but they are comfortable to wear right out of the box and breaking in beautifully. The red makes a statement but is not over the top. I am very happy with them!

I got the cherry red boots yesterday and I am in love! This is the first pair of Dr. Martens I've bought but now I think I'll be buying more. Yeah, they're stiff but amazingly after walking around the house they started to loosen up and they definitely are comfortable. I bought the balsam to waterproof them and help soften up the leather. Great quality at a great price so,overall, I couldn't be happier!

They are very amazing. They took a a month to break in, but I will not go anywhere without them now. They are very reliable, and sexy. With the right outfit, you can even go on a date with them.

Classic style and reliable brand. This is my first pair of 20-eye Dr. Marten's, but they pretty much feel the same and display the same quality as my shorter DM's. The possibilities with these boots are almost endless -- very versatile! I have skinny calves, so these leave a bit of a gap between my calf and the boot, but I find that can be remedied by thick socks and/or boot cuffs. I cannot wait for fall to get here. These will be great for stomping in the crunchy leaves! Dr. Marten's always feel a half size too large to me (too bad they don't make half sizes), but going down a full size would be too small. So, if you're a half size, I would recommend going up.

Perfect after they are broken in. It takes about 2 weeks to break in. I would say to wear heavy socks to break in. They are great in the snow, and rain.

These are my second pair of Doc Martens and I highly recommend. The zipper makes them so easy to get on and off. I have a high-arched foot, so I'm picky about boots, but these are very comfortable to me. I'm able to walk long distances in them and never have that get these off of me feeling. Though this is probably nothing new, they are very sturdy boots. After about a week of wear, I bought leather softener/waterproofing (not Doc Martens brand, just one I picked up at an outdoor store), left it overnight, and the the leather softened up a bit. I've heard it's important to waterproof Docs. All in all, these are a great pair of boots. And the black makes them really versatile. I've gotten tons of compliments.
