Love Dr Martens for a few decades now. This is a simple shoe with endless style versatility. Warning: the instep is quite shallow = orthopedic inserts need not apply. The edge around the ankle is quite rough-edged - not providing any comfort - it initially digs into your skin in that area. Breaking these in is the first order of business before frolicking around town in them. Dr Martens boots are more comfortable - in my opinion.

I like the style and the sturdiness of these shoes - but they are stiff as wood, and the C-shaped back cuts into my heels. I had just gotten to the point where I could wear them all day (after four months), then added insoles for arch support which they do not have. This made the shoe so tight that I had blisters AGAIN at the back of my heels! So no wearing them for at least for a week, and then have to remove the insoles and go without arch support. If I wanted shoes that hurt I would buy high heels.

Very stylish, and uncomfortable shoe. It has a stiff sole, which is great if you have sensitive feet (i.e feet that swell easily). However, there is no arch support, and the back of the shoe, up near the Achilles tendon, rubs painfully against one's heel; there is no padding there. The toe box is also stiff enough to make wearing full length arch supports difficult due to the lack of room. I would have returned the shoes had I not spent so much time trying out ways to make the shoes work for me, which required a lot of sole time, and rendered it difficult to return. Beautiful, stiff shoe, but not much else.

How in the heck do you sell shoes without offering half sizes? Do the British only have full-size feet? This is absolutely the shoe I was looking for, something sturdy and stylish to wear at work since I'm on my feet all day, but one size is too short, the next too long. And, no, insoles do NOT fix length, just volume and lack of any arch whatsoever. So the choice is either cramped toes or tripping over an extra half-inch of shoe than I've lived with for 30 years? Gee, DM, you're obviously loved and successful, imagine how many more shoes you could sell if you didn't ignore those of us who wear that in-between size? Duh.

Felt very plastic

These can’t be real Doc Martins! so tight and the leather does not breathe or mold like the real thing. I had to return.
