I love the shoes except that the back area is stitched straight up the inside of the heel area which ended up cutting the upper heal of my feet. I have a 10 year old pair of your boat shoes which do not have the stitching up the back and have a piece of leather sewn in at the top of the back of the shoe for comfort. I don't like this design change, I can't wear them. I am returning them.

I spend a fair amount of time on my boats (sail and power) with these shoes and have also worn them on the street.
The side to sole joint came apart on both shoes ( the mesh on left more so) in about 18 months. Soles still 90% OK.

This is my fourth pair of Sperry's and I love them dearly, however this is now the second pair in row with the sole of the shoe coming away after very very short use, this pair being worn for 4 days.
The time I had them i loved them. Very comfortable, loved the look (the new light leather color is KILLER!) but the inside stitching for the sole wasn't done properly and any glue there didn't set so on the fourth day the inside of the sole came away and they were not wearable. I contacted Sperry and they've set me up with a return and exchange, however I have to wait extra time for them to come in and am now back to my old and less comfortable pair. Talk about first world problems, right?
I hope the last two pairs I have gotten (the previous pair being a canvas pair) falling apart so easily are just poor luck on my part. Hopefully the return and exchange process is quick, I felt like I waited forever for the original pair to be shipped however I may just be used to a certain different retailer and their super short shipping speeds.
I'll update the review or submit a new one when I get the next pair. Had they not fallen apart so easily this would be a perfect 5. Hopefully future pairs will hold up better!

Good shoes but not for me. The sides of the shoes are very thick resulting in blisters on both of my ankles just below the ankle bone. They are very comfortable and stylish but unfortunately, I cannot wear them.

Quality no where near Sperry's usual. Insole leather is poor quality. Heel insert is place much too far forward. My existing pairs were fine, made in China. These with defects were made in the DR.

Unfortunately the seam split when the shoes were worn the first time. ;( We've had this shoe in other styles without an issue.

Ordered wide , came in wide , was really sized actual D , the left shoe was the defective one. The eyelet side left was sewn crooked and the tongue wasn't centered . It fit badly and looked odd.
I've worn out @ least 5 pairs of these shoes and still own 3 pairs . As time has passed , the last 4 years showed a steady decline in quality of leather and workmanship . That's a shame because the old ones , made in U.S. , were great and Chinese made were acceptable at first but cheapened until I won't buy anymore .

This is our second pair of the Sperry Top-Sider Billfish boat shoe. The first pair lasted a long time and still looked great -- my son just grew out of them. For the start of our school year we ordered this pair, and they completely came apart with a month. Very surprised and disappointed. Will send them back and try another pair.

Unfortunately, the toe on these shoes began pulling apart at the seam after 3 weeks, during which they were only worn twice.
I would not recommend this product, and personally, I won't be purchasing Sperry's in the future.

The outsoles to upper stitching fell apart after two weeks of normal wear for a teenager. This not what I expected at all. The shoes were returned for replacement. Customer service was very competent and courteous.

I have owned many Sperry shoes over the years. This was my latest purchase. The shoe fits a little short, so I bought size 13 instead of my usual 12, they also run narrow. I went to Rogan's Shoes and had my foot measured before purchasing to make sure I had the right size, because the same thing happened to the last pair I owned. The cloth fabric tore away from the sole after only a few months of wear on both shoes. Very disappointed in the quality these shoes are NOT sturdy.

The forward upper leather layer of the insole came loose within one week of use. Second pair I've had to do this. After cutting off the loose section, on the first pair I added a Dr. Scholl's insole, which made them acceptable. I'll do the same with this pair.

Approximately two weeks after purchasing the product and perhaps the 5th or 6th time I wore them the lining located on the inside, bottom of the right shoe came loose at the toe. It is quite annoying to wear them as the piece that came loose bunches up in the toe area when I wear them and it is uncomfortable. For the price you would think they would be better constructed. I should add that the shoes have never been abused and have never gotten wet.

These shoes look great and the materials are very soft, but in NO WAY are they extra wide. Just another case of there being no standard in sizing.

I purchased these shoes and was extremely satisfied with them until a few months into wearing them and the mesh siding began to rip. This was from nothing more than wearing them around casually a few days each week and taking good care of them overall.
While I have always been a strong supporter of Sperry footwear, this shoe falls short of my expectations. I would not recommend this shoe to anyone due to its lack of durability.

I am very dissatisfied with the Sperry's that i ordered my son. They are being sent back as they are very poor in quality. He wore them one day and they are falling apart. My husband and i have worn Sperry's for years and loved them but this was my Son's first Pair. It was all he asked for for Easter and he was so upset. It looks like they were never stiched completely. I will be returning and we will likely not buy Sperrys in the future.

I bought these shoes 9 months ago, and for the better part of that time was satisfied. That is no longer the case. I would now give the the Sperry Billfish 3-eye shoe a very low rating, as they haven't held up the way they should have. The fabric on the side of the shoe has separated along the edge where it is connected to the sole. It cannot be repaired, hence these shoes will have to be replaced. Since the rest of the shoe (leather portion of the upper and the sole) show very little wear, the fabric side panel has failed well before it should have. Most of the reviews you read are written by folks who have recently made their purchase. On the other hand, this review is written after the shoes have been in service for 9 months. For what it's worth, you may want to give this review some thought, before ordering the Sperry Billfish.

I have worn the Billfish for over ten years, subjecting it to harsh conditions, sailing and casual, and replacing it with the same thing 4 times. My son waits to get my old ones. Best, most rugged and comfortable, boat shoe out there. I just bought a new pair. The insole is does not fit right and made of different material, inside components that were leather are now plastic, and the shoe is stiff, does not fit right, and is not comfortable right out ot the box. I wore it for a day, hoping it would break in, but it left me with blisters. The Billfish is no longer the Billfish, except in looks. Fortunately, the local store where I bought them gave me a credit and took them back. Apparently afallen victim to mass production and cheap materials.

I have bought three pairs, solely because they are the only wide boat shoes that West Marine carries in store. All three pairs have delaminated during normal use. The soles come loose from the under layers and begin to stick to your feet, causing incredible discomfort and frankly, anger. New shoes, sticking to your feet in the heat. These are made for wet feet while boating? And normal sweaty feet wrecks whatever glue they are made with? That is ridiculous. I am on Zappos to spend whatever it takes to get a pair of boat shoes that do not suck. Less than two months after buying my last pair of these Sperrys.

The Billfish shoe looks great and is comfortable but it is a piece of crap. The upper is stiched to the bottom through the thin rubber on the side, that is all that hold it together. The bottoms of my shoes have essentially come off. I have hardly worn these shoes and now they are worthless. Watch for any Sperry shoe assembled this way it is definitely a serious weakness in the design. Don't get me wrong I love the originals and they last forever but the Billfish shoe and any others constructed like it are a waste of money

Excellent boat shoe. Quality is as good as the Gold Cup at a much more reasonable price. The one item that is in the plus column for the Gold Cup is the deerskin lining. The gold eyelets are unnecessary.

Stop manufacturing your products in china and passing them off for what they once were when made in the USA. Material are cheap by comparison and workmanship is substandard... Item not worth the price and Sperry should be ashamed. Product does not live up to previous expectation known to Sperry
