I have worn these shoes ragged. From endurance riding, to hiking and barn work. They have held up and stayed in good shape. I'm not nice to my shoes and they were put through daily mud, climbing, riding etc. stayed waterproof and tread looks almost new. My second pair and ready for a third!

I bought these a few years ago and they are rock solid. These are my 'go to' work boot for all my work around the property. I have worn them for countless hours. Took a bit for me to break them in (hence the 4 stars which is more like 4.5) as I have a somewhat narrow heel and I ware them for many hours. Now well broken in I ware them extensively. Waterproofing is very good. In Colorado we get snow...and mud. My feet are always dry in these. And, they are tough! Days of abuse and miss swings with a high RPM weed wacker hitting the boot and not one cut....heck not even a lasting mark. Tough as nails. I use mink oil once a year and these puppies are going to last for a decade or more. Comfort, waterproof, TOUGH, and at very good price. If you are looking for a boot like this...just buy them now.

I have worn these for years and recently ordered a replacement pair to find they have changed them. Not nearly as comfortable and look totally different then my old ones. I was disappointed to say the least. These were my go to shoes.

I have always loved the true to size fit, the exceptional comfort, and of course the amazing styles offered in the Ariat Fatbaby boots.

These are the only boots I've found that work for both riding and hiking - great all-around boots that are also waterproof. I trail ride and they're perfect with half chaps (I don't use the Ariat ones, because they're a bit of overkill for me and I have thick calves - though they do look great with the boots).
I just got my second pair. First pair I've had for 4 years of off-and-on use; got the second for a trip to Iceland for riding, where you can't bring used leather gear to ride in. They fit exactly the same as the old ones did - these days that's unusual because many companies switch suppliers and often the fit or quality is different.
The only thing I want to warn people, they do stretch in width over time. You can even see that in the photo. I have normal-width feet and wear thick hiking socks, so it doesn't bother me much, but if you already have narrow feet, you might want to look for something else.

I have a really wide foot. I tried this boot in regular width at a local store, but they were super tight. I was so happy when I got online and saw the made them in wide width! They fit great and I love them!

When I worked at Alyse Roberts Performance Horses barn, I was buying a new pair of boots every season, because between the hard concrete flooring and the tough-on-leather sandy arena, it was a challenge to make any pair of boots last longer. The outsoles would wear down from the constant abuse and the insoles couldn't hold up to the frequent mount and dismount as we exercised the horses, the boots themselves would crumple and sag. Not to mention finding a good pair of western work boots that would fit my calves was a nightmare.
On the recommendation of a colleague, I purchased a pair of Ariat Fatbaby ropers from the vendor at the world show, and the very first pair lasted me years before I needed to replace them! I can't recommend them highly enough. Durable, lightweight, stylish, and comfortable, with a price that's affordable-- You just can't beat them!

This will be my third pair of Terrain Waterproof boots. The first pair, having been worn almost daily around the ranch for three years, have been relegated to under the bed earthquake prepardiness boots, not because they have worn out but because they are scruffy looking. These are the most comfortable boots. I work in them, hike in them, have never needed a "break in" period and they remain waterproof. I'm excited to receive my third pair... they will now be my good boots!

You don't know your size. I can only conclude that Ariat does not cross-check their size guidelines when it comes to this particular make of boot, as the size charts (US/UK/EU) do not correspond with the print-out measuring plate. I generally wear a women's 10, and the print-out plate indicated that I should give that a try. Got the 10 in the mail, MASSIVE toe box gave me more than an inch of toe room. Alright, no problem--returned, ordered a pair of 9.5. Almost an inch of toe room. Huh. Ordered the 9s. Toes feel packed in. Moral: do not assume when trying on several pairs of these that the toe room decreases in a linear fashion. Ultimately, as a true women's 10 in every other brand, the 9s were the correct length for my foot, but the break/flex on these boots convinced me to keep the 9.5. Hopefully I will not rue that decision as the ankles loosen (although the laces give me some hope that these will remain usable for quite a while).
These, unfortunately, may be a "only buy if you can buy in store" product. They definitely run large. Ignore their sizing chart and subtract a half-size from your sneaker size to get started. And cultivate a good relationship with your local UPS store. At least Ariat's return policy allows some trial and error.
Good news--I ended up ordering two different colors in pursuit of the correct size. The photos online are color accurate--the Cordovans are particularly beautiful.

They come slightly darker than what the pictures show but the color is still great . I bought the Earth color. They fit true to size for me, I ususally wear size 11 and that's what I got.

Bought a 7 1/2 B cause that's what size my last pair of fatbabys were and they are at least a half size too big! I like the look but they just feel cheaply made compared to my other fatbabys. I was really hoping to love them but I don't. Definitely gonna have to send back and I'm not sure if I'm gonna exchange them or not.

I wear Ariat boots about 9 months a year. But when it's 90 plus degrees I choose to wear shorts. I wore brand name running shoes or hiking shoes. But my feet would ache during the day. I bought these yesterday, so I don't know how they will hold up, but so far I absolutely love them. I walked about 11k steps the first day and my feet feel great!!!! I'm not saying Ariat is perfect, but my feet haven't found anything better.

I have been wearing these terrain kind of boots since '92. I was stuffing my feet into the medium widths for black until about 4 years ago. I wore the black mediums that look good with most casual clothing till my feet just needed the wide. (My feet have problems and these are the only shoes that don't hurt or walk over the side.) But now that I have to wear wide, the only color choices are copper, distressed brown and the light one with rainbow trim. I have been asking for wide black to Ariat every year... for years. They just don't consider what goes best with clothing. As you can see the 2 year old copper in the middle are what the new copper on the end started as. The copper does not stay dark. I have 2 pair now that look like the middle.
The structure and steel shank keep the shoes wearable and sound for years. I do not walk the shoes off the soles because of the steel shanks. If they were not in these, they maybe would have lasted less than a year. I wear these exclusively now but the soles wear after 2 years.
I am only embarrassed by the color I have to choose.
There are great for endurance riding and the pack trips

I wear these everyday! Riding, training, coaching English, western, endurance... and even hiking. The hold up and they are comfortable! And my feet don't hurt at the end of the day!! (Sometimes 16+ hrs a day)

I bought these boots late last year and have worn them almost daily since! I work at a dog boarding kennel and these boots have carried me through many days work. I also wear them for riding once a week and they've held up wonderfully and broken in so nicely. The laces have worn down a bit and I'm a bit worried they might break, but the shoes themselves have stood up to a myriad of situations and haven't failed me yet.
Very happy with my purchase!

Love my new boots! I had wanted a black pair of cowboy boots and it took me awhile to actually order since I hadn't tried these on in person but they are so comfortable! I know they will be worn often.

My first pair of Terrains are now over 15 years old and worn down a bit at the heel after ranch work, hiking and general use. Decided to buy a new pair. These should last longer since I can save them for "dress up" and still get more use out of my old pair. Best boot ever. Works with my orthodics and the 6.5C size accomodates my wide feet. And BTW, Ariat is my first choice for all my boots - riding, hiking and style. The only downside is I had to hunt forever on many sites for the 6.5C size in stock. Ariat, don't make it so hard to buy your great Terrain boots!

I've been buying Terrains for years and the quality has progressively gotten worse and worse. I always have at least 2 pairs of paddock boots, and often are rotating 3 pairs. The Terrains are super comfortable and useful for me BUT they DO NOT last anymore. For example I usually wear a specific pair of Terrains twice a week. The last 5 pairs I bought separated at the seam at the ball of my foot on both boots within 9 months. That's not much wear!! I never get them wet or wear them in the mud - I have muck boots for that. I clean and condition them weekly at least once. I've even tried 2 different sizes but they still fall apart at the same place. Looking for a replacement - going to try Justin or Mountain Horse. No more Ariat Terrains for me.

I bought these 3 months ago. I had to get arch supports to put inside because these boots would kill my feet after hikes. And these boots were made for trailing and not for hiking, because I would slip climbing up a hill and onto rocks.

I looked for a while and decided to go with these boots. I am obsessed. They are beautiful and the perfect color (I got russet brown). I used the size chart online and they fit perfectly.
