Love them!!! They run large, about a half size or so... However, with 2 pair of socks, thick socks, or the fleecy inserts, they are sold. They fit perfectly and if you’re wearing them in cold weather you'll need extra warmth! But they are cute as the dickens and fit the calf really well, not all bulky looking like most rain boots.

Thanks to everyone who reviewed this product, I got the perfect pair of rain boots (Hunter originals) in the perfect size (regularly a size 8, I got the size 38) and the perfect color (Aubergine is indeed a very dark plum shade, beautiful)! And I did get the Welly socks, after all I AM in Chicago! Well worth the price!

Wonderful, classic boots - I love hunters and have been wearing them for years. I just want to clarify some of the other reviews though. A few people have said that these boots have narrow calves... this is in no way true. I am a thin 5'9" and these boots swallow my calves. If you are average they are still roomy (I have friends who own them) and have plenty of room for jeans inside. There was a photo shoot with Gwyneth Paltrow wearing them where you can see just how much room there is in them. You would have to have VERY large calves for these to be tight!!

I HEART HEART HEART MY HUNTERS!!! Seriously, within the first hour of wearing these puppies I was scaling over piles of Chicago's dirtiest snow, plunging through slush puddles almost a foot deep and loving every minute of it!!! These are one of the best investments I've ever made. If you're an adventurer like me these boots will make you smile like none other! Fun! Fun! Fun! BUT...if you live in a colder climate (like the -4 days we've been having) you'll have to double up on socks or get one of Hunter's liner socks. Rubber in snow is COLD!!! All in all, I heart my Hunter boots and I know you will too!

Need half sizes! I've had these boots for almost a year now...I absolutely love them, however, when I ordered them the size was just a tad too small, so I exchanged them for a size up, but that was too big! But I kept them anyway...I just have to wear two pairs of socks AND the wellie warmers. If they had half sizes, they would be perfect.

Manages mud, rain, with style! I wanted an at least semi-stylish rain boot for walking at my work campus, and I needed something knee-high that would protect me from mud-splashing, jumping dogs in the dog park--something I could hose off when I came home. These fit the bill perfectly! I love the aubergine which is both fun and stylish. Requirements: inserts for a little arch support and insulation, and wool socks in cold weather.

Love the Hunter Original -Aubergine - These are the most stylish way to get caught in the rain. Look and wear great. I bought my regular shoe size - 8. It rains a lot here and I just slip them on to walk the dogs or go to work. I got the aubergine color (dark purple). I was skeptical but it traditional and not bright or showy. As always, Zappos was wonderful. My order arrived quickly and well packaged.

Simple yet Stylish - I am extremely happy with my Hunter boots in Merlot. I live in Chicago, IL and they are the perfect all weather boot. They fit great with a thick pair of knee high socks. They are pretty tall, and rest right below my knee, so no snow ever gets inside the boot. As far as keeping them clean, they are so easy to wipe clean.

Love it! These boots are terrific! I'm 5'1 and was hesitant at first to purchase these boots as I read from the other reviewers that the shaft is quite tall. However, it fits me fine! The boots are a "tad" tall resulting in the opening of the boot hitting me behind the knee when I walk up and down stairs, but it's not a big deal. The style is great. Given my short stature, I don't look dumpy in them. Thank goodness!

GREAT rain boots - Review of boots: LOVE these. I ordered them as knock-around/rain-snow boot alternative to an old pair of Bean boots, and they exceeded expectation in every way: color, style, fit, quality. I am 5'9" with I think average-size calves, regular shoe size is 9. I ordered these boots in a 9 and they feel great, with light or heavy socks. They hit comfortably below my knee. My boot cut jeans fit in easily, just snug enough to keep them tucked in. I ordered both the navy and chocolate, really liked both, kept the chocolate. Color is subtle, low sheen (not shiny at all). Review of Zappos: I am a raving fan. From the first order for sandals a few years ago up to now I have had nothing but excellent service -- both online and by phone. I ordered these boots at 9:00 one night, they were on my door step the next day when I got home from work -- HOW do they do this???? Perfect for snow/slush/rain - I love these boots- perfect for the ever-changing midwest weather. When worn with the fleece socks, I'd say they're plenty warm until about 10 degrees. They're a little cold past that, I just wear them with extra socks. Normally I wear a size 8.5, so I got them in 8 so I could wear the fleece socks with them and they fit great.

The Perfect Wet Weather Boot - I ordered one full size smaller than I usually wear, per the advice in other reviews, and my boots fit perfectly. These are classic and stylish and are well worth the price - they are well-made and will last for years!

Hunter boots - I love my Hunter boots they are wonderful. I wear them in the snow and the rain and they look great with jeans. I wear a 7 and got a size 6 because they run big.

I love these! I bought the Hunter Wellies in the green color and really love them. I have thicker, muscular calves and decided to order the Men's boot instead, as it has more room in the calf. They are still not roomy--but have enough room for me to tuck my jeans into them. I also really like how high they come up.

A little sweaty - I love my Hunters in *almost* every way and can tell they are going to save me money in the long run - I was wearing normal shoes in the rain so much and I would inevitably ruin them. I'm 5'2 and they came up a little too close to the knee, but put an inch lift in them and now they look great, whether with a skirt, dress or with tucked-in jeans. The *almost* is for the fact that for some reason, my feet start sweating in the Hunters every time without fail - even if it's 15 degrees outside. I have never had this happen to me before, so it must be attributed to the boot. Maybe because it is rainproof and therefore, non-no breathable? Still, love this boot.

Super Chic - These boots are super chic...I would order a size down than what you usually wear. I also recommend biting the bullet and ordering at least one pair of wellie socks, esp if you live in a winter wonderland like Chicago. The boots are not warm at all. Also, don't expect to fit much clothing into them, esp with the socks. They are narrow, so a real skinny jean or leggings work best.

Great boots - These are the perfect boots to deal with slushy snow. They are not warm, so buy some wool socks, but your feet will be totally dry.

Cool boots - These boots are great. Not only do they keep your feet dry, they look stylish as well. Order liners with them or wear lots of socks to keep warm in extra cold weather.

Boot made for durability not for comfort - This boot was obviously well-constructed and seemed very durable. It is very snug and does not allow for much wiggle room in the footbed or "shaft" so people with wide feet, ankles and/or calves beware.

Loved the boots - Best boots, great for rain for snow. Be sure to buy the socks for the snow. A little on the heavy side, but that is not a big deal. If you are even thinking of them, buy them. Everyone has told me how cute they are!

Steppin' out with my Hunters - The boots are a must-have and worth every penny. Great fit and quality (although they run bigger than your normal size), and by far the most comfortable boots I own. (I have a bad left foot and it gives me no trouble in these shoes/boots). My Uggs are great, by not much for style when I need to be semi-fashionable for meetings and work related events. Can wear them with jeans, slacks or a skirt. Sturdy too and not as heavy as some other boot makers. My daughter ordered a pair in navy and we're looking at other colors to snap up. Great investment and addition to my wardrobe. A classic and must-have.

Hunter Boots - I received these boots quickly and they are wonderful quality. I went on a trip to rainy Ireland and was able to stay dry and cute. Very comfortable. Remember to order a SIZE DOWN. I’m normally an 8 and I bought a 7. If you wear Uggs, its very similar sizing.

Look forward to rainy days! Wow - don't know what took me so long to get these fabulous boots! They're great on any kind of sloppy weather day or even when it's not so sloppy. Be aware that you will want to stomp through every puddle! As others have said, these boots are not warm, but with thick wool socks, or the fleece liners, they will soon be your winter boots of choice!
